The Homeless and Snow
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  Yesterday 8:19 AM    6
For these unfortunates an insufferable blizzard can mean life or death. I happened across this video (never shown in our mainstream corporate media) and was taken aback that I never gave a thought to those who try to survive living on the street. It’s hard enough during clement weather for these people to find the means of survival but in harsh conditions many of them either die are become very ill. Seeing the homeless should make us all chant “There but for the grace of god goes I” because in a greedy capitalistic society we are all vulnerable to such a fate. In a corporate culture people have no value other than the purchase power they possess. If ever you lose that means, you become useless and invisible to those who hold the reigns over your destiny.

Academy Award Snubs, Snide & Surprises
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-2-2010
This is an interesting overview of 'who's in,' and 'who's out,' and why. Of course, the ability of Hollywood and our recording and media industry (the Grammys, etc. ) to give themselves awards after awards and more awards ad nauseum can get tiresome fast And not just Acadamy Awards and Grammys, but Golden Globes and People's Choice and Emmys and Blagh Blagh. It's half the time making media and half the time congratulating themselves for it. (I heard they gave out 245 Grammys, or something) But it's all part of the Circus Act of America and good for sales, I'm sure. And almost something for everyone, a nice pic or piece of music here and there -- depending upon personal tastes. (Or lack, thereof) At least the Academy Awards still appears to only have a dozen major categories or less. Winners picked by an exclusive club. Movie and national politics all part of it all. Welcome to Hollyweird. Be sure to bring your red carpet clothes.

Obama's one true SOTU statement: "We face a deficit of trust." He forgot, "We also face a surplus of talk -- and of government." • Randy Barnett -- a Professor of Law at Georgetown, writing at Politico -- blistered the President's speech: "In the history of the State of the Union has any President ever called out the Supreme Court by name, and egged on the Congress to jeer a Supreme Court decision, while the Justices were seated politely before him surrounded by hundreds Congressmen? To call upon the Congress to countermand (somehow) by statute a constitutional decision, indeed a decision applying the First Amendment? ...this was a truly shocking lack of decorum and disrespect towards the Supreme Court for which an apology is in order. A new tone indeed." • Bradley Smith, a Professor of Law at Capital University, leveled withering criticism at the President's behavior: "... statement is false. The Court held that , which prohibits all .....

RULE BY THE RICH
Steve Savage
by Steve Savage  1-28-2010
Paul Craig Roberts, author of this article, was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration. Americans are being squeezed out of health care not only by the loss of job benefits, but also by corporate takeover of medical practice from physicians. Today medical doctors are wage slaves of corporate health providers that leverage doctors by turning them into supervisors of physician assistants, lower paid people without medical degrees who perform the services that doctors once provided. As neither doctor nor physician assistant has any independence, there is no one to represent the patient’s care against the profits of the corporation.

Posted by Dana Loesch Jan 21st 2010 Malloy : Rush, Sean, Glenn, and Bill 'Bombed' America on 9/11 By Tim Graham Wed, 01/20/2010 Radical-left talk show host Mike Malloy went on a tear again on Tuesday night as election returns poured in from Massachusetts. Malloy was blunt about the voters. To him, they said: "We want a theocratic madman as our senator." But Malloy really started swinging as he noted the headline that Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia was having talks with Rupert Murdoch about News Corp investing in his Rotana Media company. That story led to this rant about conservative talkers being the real terrorists on 9/11 (Listen for yourself here): You crazy sons-of-bitches, you right-wingers. Do you not understand that the people you hold up as heroes bombed your goddamn country? Do you not understand that Glenn Beck and Sean ....

'Apostate' Girl's Father: The Unreported Story

Thirty days in foster care in Ohio (and what good does that do?) and then they wing her to Sri Lanka. Rifka said it herself: "In 150 generations of my family no one has known Jesus. I am the first one. Imagine the honor in killing me. There is great honor in that. Because if they love Allah more than me, they have to do it. It's in the Koran...They have to do this. They just have to. Either they do that or they send me back to Sri Lanka. There's an asylum there where they put people like me, like, think I'm crazy." Bary dissolved his business in early July when it became increasingly clear that Rifqa was a true convert to Christianity. It was at that time that he waved her laptop at her and said, "You are dead to me. You are not my daughter." He told her: "I will kill you."

Reporting on independent Bernie Sanders, the Boston Globe headlined its recent profile: "Sanders a growing force on the far, far left -- Vermont senator is gathering clout as he takes on the Fed's Ben Bernanke." Polls, mind you, prove that disdain for the Fed chairman transcends "the left." As a failed regulator and architect of unpopular bailouts, Bernanke is despised by the public at large. Even within the Senate, his renomination faces transpartisan opposition from Republicans like Jim Bunning (Ky.) and red-state Democrats like Byron Dorgan (N.D.).

The Story The Media Is Missing Because It Does Not Fit Their Narrative

For government assisted health care options? We don’t recognize you. At least that is what the media claims. So the media has and is ignoring the alliance between left and right among the GOP in Massachusetts. Scott Brown is not a conservative. He makes no pretension of being a conservative. He defends Romneycare, which most conservative have rejected. He is pro-choice. But he is for less government interference in the free market and less spending. Like Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania, he is the perfect sort of Republican candidate for New England. Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund is encouraging its members to support and donate to Scott Brown.. Marco Rubio is supporting Scott Brown. RedState is supporting Scott Brown. We, well . . . I, suspect he’ll give conservatives heart burn as New England Republicans do. But all of us know he is a good, pragmatic fit for Massachusetts. He’ll vote against Obamacare and he’d vote against a second stimulus. Conservatives do know

If Vennochi treats Brown’s military service as some kind of calculated political ploy, it’s no wonder. That’s the way some of the most prominent of the relatively few recent politicians on her side of the aisle who were involved with our military have treated it. I somewhat doubt that political calculations were entering into Brown’s head when he stood in the C-130’s door for his second qualification parachute jump at the Army’s Airborne School (The first jump is easy because you don’t know what the hell is happening" it’s the second jump that’s a killer). If Brown was anything like me, he probably thought those silver wings would be a great way to meet girls. But you don’t stay in the Guard for thirty years " giving up a weekend a month, having to run every day to meet the stringent fitness requirements, taking course after course on your own time to keep educationally qualified, wearing terrible haircuts " unless you are either crazy or you have a deep and .....

That’s particularly true when the mainstream media are reporting and analyzing the news of the day in terms of right vs. left " the fallback canard of lazy journalism everywhere. Anyone looking at today’s political landscape with clear eyes can see that on issue after issue " the war in Afghanistan, the bailout, health care, the war on drugs, etc., etc. " the binary division of the debate into right vs. left obscures more than it reveals. John McCain and Maria Cantwell are joining forces to bring back Glass-Steagall-type banking regulations. Ron Paul and Alan Grayson are pushing through legislation to audit the Fed. George Will agrees with Russ Feingold that we should not escalate in Afghanistan. Howard Dean and Michael Bloomberg are both down on the health care bill. And on and on it goes. "Mollie Hemingway, posting at Get Religion takes a calm walk through the coverage of Brit Hume's ongoing altar call to Woods. She points out the irrelevance of all the coverage citing various flawed Christians in the news. And she does it without any notes of triumphalism." She writes: "I've always had this suspicion that the mainstream media thinks Christianity is basically a set of rules, mostly about sex, that are imperfectly followed by hypocrites such as Haggard and Swaggart. And in the media's defense, I think this view could be based in part on what some of the more media-friendly Christian figures teach." ___ http://google.twi.bz/xv ___ http://me.twi.bz/m | http://altacities.com

Europe's Looming Demise

It boggles the mind that such a consequential and seismic cultural shift could be mandated and put into play without so much as a murmur from the mainstream media. Why should Americans care about this? Americans have to care because this global gobbledygook is coming to our shores, thanks to our globalist president . The European human rights group called Stop the Islamization of Europe (SIOE) has been working tirelessly to expose the mass Muslim immigration plan of the Euro-Med Partnership. A statement on the SIOE Web site criticizes the secrecy of the process: "It was shocking to hear about the plans and at the same time knowing that Danish politicians and a Danish press - who is otherwise proud to be critical - has told nothing to the Danish people about this project which begins in January. This also showed clearly at the conference. Only very few politicians showed up and no media. Those politicians who showed up had obviously never heard about the

Bob Schieffer of Face The Nation ~ http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/FTN_010310.pdf?tag=cbsnewsTwoColUpperPromoArea Really, what have the Obami done well? Not the stimulus plan. Not crafting a popular and coherent health-care bill. And not instilling confidence that there are competent people who can, when bombarded with intelligence, put it together to prevent an attack or even craft a policy designed to extract information after an attack. But Bob Schieffer, not exactly a fire-breathing conservative, really laid into the Obami. The problem is not only competence but also trust. The Democrats are consumed with political spin even on national security. He notes that Janet Napolitano was getting hammered but explains that this is a symptom of a bigger issue: But she was just following the modern bipartisan public relations template in this age of information management. First, play down the problem.

Here's what WON'T happen in 2010
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  1-2-2010    3
Obama will stop blaming George W. Bush for his failures. Liberals will stop blaming George W. Bush for him failing to get them a date on eHarmony.com. After admitting that human behavior might not be causing global warming, Al Gore will get a real job. California will become a national model for state budgeting. The New Jersey Nets will waltz their way to an NBA championship. General Motors will become the world's most profitable carmaker. Despite Democrats' massive spending, taxes in America will fall. Huge new taxes to pay for ObamaCare will spur investors to pour billions into new businesses, igniting a wild economic boom overnight. Obama, America's first postpartisan president, will actually include Republican ideas in his agenda. The mainstream media will treat Sarah Palin fairly. and pundits will finally stop making stupid predictions.

Obama And His Appointees Dismantling US
merrie
by merrie  12-21-2009    3
Thomas Sowell, the brilliant conservative pundit, makes an important point for those who think these radical extremists somehow got into the White House because of a failure to properly vet them. Mr. Sowell writes, “Why should we assume Obama didn’t know what such people were like; he’s been associating with these kinds of people for decades. Nothing is more consistent with his pattern than putting such people in government " people who reject American values, and resent Americans and America’s influence in the world.” Wake up America. We elected one of the most dangerous enemies of America and he now sits in the White House, filled with other enemies of America, relentlessly going about his task of destroying the country as we know it and as the Founding Fathers intended it. You better join the forces in opposition to Mr. Obama’s vision for America because if he continues unobstructed for three more years, it may then be too late to save it.

Hiding the significance of Houston electing an openly gay Mayor
zizzy
by zizzy  12-17-2009    2
The truth is this: Houston's mayoral seat was held by a Democrat before, and a Republican didn't even have a snowball's chance of winning it this time around ... All the cities of Texas voted for John Kerry in 2004 and Barack Obama in 2008. It's not that Texas isn't dominated by conservatives on a statewide level. It absolutely is. But narratives about the conservative monolith are not only unfair, but they have the potential to create long-term damage, too. If the liberal presence in Texas is ignored and written off, it won't get the support and the hope it needs to keep plugging. And right now, as the state's demographics start to move more towards urbanity and racial diversity, liberals need all the support they can get to seize the moment and turn the traditionally red state blue . Demographic trend across the United States: Republicans only win in white-dominated rural and suburban areas. Read clip in full @ source
