POPSSuspected Anthrax Mailer Commits Suicide Ivins' brother Tom, who stressed that had not spoken to Bruce since 1985, was not shocked to hear that his brother was accused of making death threats, and he conceded the possibility that Bruce may have been the anthrax mailer.

POPSThe Do-Good Imperative How about a windup flashlight crossed with a cell phone charger? It's low tech meets high tech with rugged, toylike charm. Or charcoal made from plant waste instead of wood, developed for Haiti by MIT's D-Lab? Talk about a greener way to barbecue. (The technology might also help save endangered African gorillas. A new study published in Science links organized crime rings cutting trees for charcoal in Congo with a spate of recent gorilla murders.)

POPSAnother Leftist Icon Comes to His Senses This is a great article about the transformation of David Mamet from Liberal to Conservative. I do not know who David Mamet is but I find the story rather familiar in my own transformation and in the natural maturity of many as they gain wisdom and perspective. It gets frustrating at times seeing and hearing comments that are based on such lack of clarity. This is more evidence that the natural growth and transformation is toward a Libertarian stance founded in clear-mindedness, Conservative stance on constitutional intent, and Incrementalism as the wisest approach to societal advance in the face of fascist-progressivism.

2. "Vet" (Open on a short-haired, twentysomething YOUNG WOMAN as she puts on a white lab coat in an X-ray room. A door opens and a VETERINARIAN appears holding a domesticated white rabbit, which the VET pets as it purrs gently. She throws the YOUNG WOMAN a stethoscope.) VET: Now remember, people's animals are like members of their family. So it's important that we stress to them the gentle methods and safety precautions we employ while the pets are here in our supervision. Know what I mean? (Cut to the same YOUNG WOMAN at Abu Ghraib, smashing a prisoner in the face with the butt of her rifle, hogtying naked prisoners, posing in front of a naked dogpile of blindfolded prisoners with a "thumbs up" as a cigarette dangles from her lower lip. Cut back to the VET's office, where the YOUNG WOMAN responds.) YOUNG WOMAN: Yes, ma'am. (Accidentally laughs.) VET: What's so funny? YOUNG WOMAN: Nothing. Yeah, Be all you can be.

POPS Obama Mailings 'False'? February 24, 2008 Clinton said "every Democrat should be outraged" at two "false" mailers that Obama sent to voters in Ohio. We leave it to our readers to decide whether they should be "outraged" or not, and at whom.

POPSYOU'VE GOT SNAIL MAIL It looks like the lies, and mudslinging have become a way of life in political circles and campaigns. But of all people to use such tactics, one would imagine, Hillary Clinton could never resort to such dirty tricks. After all the lies that the republican camps had flung her way hoping to smear her husband and herself into obliteration, I would think she would have become a defender of truth. I'm very disappointed with Hillary and Bill's choice to embrace the swiftboater's dirty maneuvers to win an election. If we the people keep listening to known lies and casting our votes for those who sling such lies, we deserve what we get as our leaders. In other words, we deserved George W. Bush and we deserved his efforts to FALL THE USA EMPIRE. Please read: Reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire http://killeenroos.com/1/Romefall.htm and notice the similarities. SCARY STUFF  Click here for fact check: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/youve_got_mailers_1.html

POPSWhy I might vote for Hillary This mailer from the Obama campaign really pissed me off. If there is one area where Obama is dead wrong it is in health care. And then he has the nerve to send out a negative ad like this? I am now firmly on the fence.

POPS"Straight Talk Express" Took A Wrong Turn With This Mailer ANALYSIS FROM FACT CHECK ON MCCAIN MAILER What makes the McCain mailer misleading is that McCain himself went way beyond quietly refusing to endorse the 2003 tax cut plan. He was one of only three Senate Republicans to vote against it. The day after Bush proposed the cuts he criticized them as too generous to the rich. "It is middle-income Americans that have kept our economy afloat by buying houses and automobiles," McCain said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "I believe that they deserve the majority of the break, not the higher-income level of Americans." By attacking Romney for not supporting the 2003 cuts, McCain invites readers to believe that he himself must have supported them, which isn't true. Furthermore, McCain also voted against Bush's 2001 tax cuts, before Romney took office as governor.

POPSJohn McCain Mailer Has Mitt Romney Campaign Crying Foul
Meanwhile, the McCain campaign planned to file a complaint with the office of State Attorney General Henry McMaster -- one of McCain’s co-chairs in South Carolina -- about a Colorado-based group that is using an automated telephone polling system, Boling said. The group, Common Sense Issues, Inc., is a 501c4 nonprofit that focuses on conservative issues and has endorsed Mike Huckabee for president. Patrick Davis, the group’s executive director, said the group is independent and not controlled by the Huckabee campaign. McMaster, one of four South Carolina officials on McCain’s "Truth Squad," said he didn’t think it would be a conflict of interest if the campaign filed a complaint with his office. He said other campaigns could be affected by the calls as well and a complainant could go to a local solicitor with their complaint, not just his office. POPSIs Brijit the 'Thinking Man's Digg?' Arrington called Brijit the 'Thinking Man's Digg,' presumably because it culls stories from high-minded sources and provides short abstracts. Even if it's not all it's cracked-up to be, it still is a nice idea and could be a great source. Or, it could be yet another useless, boring social news site. We'll see...
