POPSBaring All for Climate Change Action! And I thought the French were really supposed to be prudish. Guess, you have to say they have nothing to hide in their support for positive actions for a healthy planet and climate!

POPS"Girl From Ipanema": Plenty Time To Get Toned and Tanned And I have a sneaking suspicion that after the hobnobbing is done, the IOC members will check their gift bags, look at the boxset of DVDs from Obama … Anyway, Obama probably just thinks this a fun, feel-good sideshow, stepping up for the home team. Doesn’t seem like that big a deal. What he probably hasn’t figured out is that, taken with a health-care failure, an Iran debacle, bucking the generals on Afghanistan, and that climate change thing that has “health-care redux” written all over it, being dissed by the IOC is going to make him look like an Olympic-sized loser. Can’t get anything done. Especially since the wife said it’s “gloves off” and “take no prisoners.” It’s a big gamble. This idea that you can treat not only your own top agenda items but actual serious national security concerns with less apparent interest than a big, expensive party for your hometown, and think there won’t be consequences.

POPSBrazil: Slash, burn and kill capitalism I know President Lula has hands full but the slash, burn and kill "cowboy" capitalists need some sort of lesson from the President to change their ways of have their holdings nationalized. Endangering people and the planet is no longer an option folks!

POPSCan Honduras Be Saved From Communism? in order to defend their friend Zelaya. Unfortunately, some authorities in the U.S. have fallen for that version, without really knowing what went on. Why is Obama siding with Chavez and Castro on this matter? I believe that, on the one hand, Obama is beginning to show his socialist tendencies, which were denounced during the American presidential campaign. On the other hand, Obama is letting himself be influenced by several presidents of Latin America, particularly Lula of Brazil, who is the real power behind the São Paulo Forum. Can Honduras be saved from Chavez? I think it can, but it requires the participation of all citizens, not only of Latin America, but of the U.S. as well. Honduras is facing tremendous pressures, and will not be able to bear them without the help of the world public opinion. Every article, every interview, in favor of the Honduran democracy helps to defend their institutions against Chavez’s assault.

POPSBrazil Seeks More Control of Oil Beneath Its Seas This month, Brazil’s government said it wanted the national oil company, Petrobras, to control all future development of the deep-sea fields discovered in 2007, which international geologists estimate could hold tens of billions of barrels of recoverable oil. The change would make Petrobras the operator for the 62 percent of the new area that has yet to be bid out, consigning foreign companies to the role of financial investors. That would limit their ability to help set the pace for the oil fields’ development, while giving Petrobras significantly more power to generate jobs and award lucrative contracts.

POPSFINALLY BAD
As well as it has been wished by our interior minister some months ago, we finally became bad enough to consider as criminals anyone who's in Italy illegaly, to send back to Libia anyone who tries to come in Italy without any chance to be recognized as refugee, bad enough to forbid mothers to register the births of their children, bad enough to create ghost children here, in Italy, in the same cities in which we are supposed to live and to live spending money to defeat the economical crisis. The same newspaper which is celebrating such achievement (the title in the main page: FINALLY BAD) is also giving us the chance to buy the first booklet (total=15) of "BERLUCONI, JUST LIKE HE IS - Life, achievements, battles and passions of a politician who's unique in the world" (some weeks ago we learned from the most imporant journalist of one of the 3 Berlusconi's broadcasting TV companies that he's the most popular leader in the world, after him Lula in the second place, Obama being third).

POPSCredit Crisis Caused By White People The Brazilian President may be correct on this but that is only because White Is The Color Of Wall Street. I hope he realizes that GREED with all its nasty connotations is color blind. The real sin here was to allow the "FREE" market "FREE" reign, "FREE" from oversight; And all of us, black, brown, yellow, red and white will be paying out the yin-yang for a very long time for all their FREE-ness! :-(
