POPSRingers Vs. Trekkies had to leave out a massive amount to make this fit the clipping limit T...T Intro: Hard core Lord of the Rings fans have been given a name in the past several years, since the movies premiered and gained a bigger fan base: Ringers. I guess. In an interview a few years ago on the Tonight Show, Elijah Wood described Ringers as kind of like Trekkies. And at first I thought that was kind of unfair…I mean, it’s fantasy versus sci-fi, a show versus a movie: dangit, that wasn’t just an unfair comparison, it was a…a…and then I thought, wait. Maybe…maybe…he had a point. I mean, when I thought about it:

POPSLord of the Rings origami I'm not a big LOTR fan, but I still think these are awesome. Eric Joisel creates these figures, each made of one sheet of uncut paper. The craftsmanship is extraordinary. Link via Boing Boing

POPSUGO's suggestions for upcoming superhero movie casting UGO (UnderGround Online) has a list up suggesting actors to play marvel superheros in movies that, apparently, are in consideration for being adapted to the screen. There's like 5 mentioned in the article, but because of my great fondness for Thor, this one caught my eye. I have to agree, Karl Urban would do a nice job in the role, though I also think his former LotR co-star Viggo Mortensen could do a nice take on it as well - especially if you want to go for a bit of and older, more world-weary hero.

POPSMiniature Bag End - Inspirational
To bring a fictional world only viewed by the mind to life is usually thought to be possible only by movie crews funded by large production companies -- the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Chronicles of Narnia come first to mind -- but people like Obelia medusa (from LiveJournal) prove that ingenuity, creativity and sheer will power can make virtually anything possible. I stumbled across this LiveJournal entry months ago and still find myself revisiting it to view the intricate details of such a wonderful and amazing project. I truly admire her for her dedication to complete such a project. I can only imagine the amount of time, work and effort that went into planning, researching, finding and buying supplies, and constructing such an amazing miniature recreation of Bilbo and Frodo's Bag End. I have clipped only a handful of the volume of photos from Obelia medusa's post. Please visit her page for more images. The story and in-progress photographs are also linked from her post.
