POPSCzar Obama Takes Aim at Congress
Indeed, when the original law was approved by Congress, nobody said a word about any agency of the federal government telling any business or industry in America how much CO2 it could emit. By now saying the law gives it unilateral authority to declare CO2 dangerous pollutants, the EPA is grabbing power to regulate the 85 percent of the U.S. economy that depends on energy derived from the burning of carbon-based fuels. Those fuels -- oil, natural gas, and coal -- are heavy CO2 emitters. This ruling thus renders congressional intent irrelevant. If the ruling stands, the law will then be whatever the president and his bureaucratic minions in the executive branch decree, not what the people decide acting through their elected representatives in Congress. Congressional liberals who failed to get their cap-and-trade scheme approved in the Senate are ecstatic about the EPA's ruling. There was a time when American liberals worried about excessive executive power;

POPSHunger, family homelessness on rise in U.S. cities You would think with that since the recession was going on prior to spring of 2009, that the government would have stopped the "paying farmers not to farm" and allowed a large influx of food to be readily available for those in need. Likewise you would think all the $$ we keep sending abroad to keep countries from fighting one another would be reallocated to help citizens here. I feel for all the kids that are suffering through this and should not have to be. I realize that some people got in way over their heads, but many would have survieed if they had not lost jobs. All the $$ they paid in taxes and unemployment, etc and the help they get from government is almost none, yet we keep shipping money outside the US before helping our own citizens. I just have to say WTF?

POPSJobs plan will 'jump-start' hiring, Obama says Why not just give people a hundred bucks to send you a letter attesting that you created a job for them, same difference, you blow the money with nothing in return. This guy should really paint on his clown face when he's this funny. How is giving away taxpayer money to people who caulk their homes going to create jobs you moron?

POPSEconomy: Bush's Fault... yet, The Rats Are Jumping Ship—
Members of President Obama’s own political party are charging that the White House and the Democratic Congressional leadership are not doing enough to help the unemployed and are threatening to organize a march on Washington of jobless Americans. “Obviously there’s something that’s not getting through to them,” said Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Illinois. “And we’re going to let the White House and everybody who’s concerned know that we have got people in our districts who are depending on us to deliver for them.” Rush and Kaptur argue that a new jobs program is more important than health care reform, but stop short of threatening to hold up a vote on one of Obama’s most important domestic policy initiatives. “We’re not there yet,” Kaptur said. Some of the proposals being floated by the caucus include: redirecting existing stimulus and TARP money to jobs programs and pressing for a new jobs bill, which they’re careful not to call a “stimulus.”

POPS Official Hot Air: The Obama Watch (actually 17.5 percent by the government's own numbers, counting "discouraged" workers who've quit looking for a job and counting part-timers seeking full-time), and the economy still losing a quarter million jobs per month, and 2.9 million jobs lost since Obama signed the $787 billion non-stimulating stimulus bill into law in February, the administration's economic agenda is basically a suicide mission that treats job creation like cigarettes -- something to discourage through increased regulations, more central controls and higher taxation. The basic Law of Demand principle in Economics-101 shows that consumers purchase less of something when the price goes up, and it's no different with employers and entrepreneurs when they're deciding on how much labor to purchase or how many jobs to create through business expansion or new start-ups.

POPSHumanizing Globalized Work Stopping the export of work may not be on the radar screen but getting fairness and humaneness into the exported work just got a bit easier. Your college sports teams have jobbed out the player and fan jerseys but supporting work exploitation no longer has to be part of that equation.

POPSReport: 237 millionaires in Congress
Senators’ estimated median reportable worth sunk to about $1.79 million from $2.27 million in 2007. The House’s median income was significantly lower and also sank, bottoming out at $622,254 from $724,258 in 2007. But CRP’s analysis suggests that some lawmakers did well for themselves between 2007 and 2008, even as many Americans lost jobs and saw their savings and their home values plummet. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) gained about $9.2 million. Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) gained about $3 million, Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) had an estimated $2.6 million gain, and Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) gained about $2.8 million. Some lawmakers have profited from investments in companies that have received federal bailouts; dozens of lawmakers are invested in Wells Fargo, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. Vice President Joe Biden has often tagged himself as an original blue collar man. The CRP backs him up, putting his net worth at just $27,000.

POPSUNEMPLOYMENT TOPS 10 %
The jobless rate rose to 10.2 percent from 9.8 percent in September. The jump reflects a sharp increase in the tally of unemployed Americans, which rose to 15.7 million from 15.1 million. That was much larger than the net loss of jobs, which is based on a survey of businesses. Economists say it could climb as high as 10.5 percent next year because employers remain reluctant to hire. Friday's report is the first since the government said last week that the economy grew at a 3.5 percent annual rate in the July-September quarter, the strongest signal yet that the economy is rebounding. But that isn't fast enough to spur rapid hiring, raising the specter of a jobless recovery. "You need explosive growth to take the unemployment rate down," said Dan Greenhaus, chief economic strategist for New York-based investment firm Miller Tabak & Co. Greenhaus said the economy soared by nearly 8 percent in 1983 after a steep recession, lowering the jobless rate by 2.5 percentage points that

POPSJobless Rate Jumps to 10.2% How much of that Stimulus money has gone overseas to *create* US jobs over there? I guess Ms. Pelosi will say we need to extend the unemployment benefits even more and her health care bill will be needed now more than ever. The American people can not win with this crowd. This Administration is Carter on steroids.
