POPSNo Apparent Motive for Ark. Dem HQ Murder A follow up to yesterday's report . In addition to the reaction from the Clintons, this report includes an Obama statement: Michelle and I are heartbroken to hear about the tragic loss of Chairman Bill Gwatney. We're praying for his family and friends and all who worked with him and loved him. Team McCain apparently has no reaction.

POPSThis Day in History McVeigh was born in Lockport, New York, and raised in nearby Pendleton, New York. He was the middle child of three and the only male child. He earned his high school diploma from Starpoint Central High School. His parents, Mildred Noreen ("Mickey") Hill and William McVeigh, divorced when he was 10. His parents were of Irish and German origin. McVeigh was known throughout his life as a loner; his only known affiliations were voter registration with the Republican Party when he lived in New York and a membership in the National Rifle Association while in the military.

POPS"Cynical Shyness": Violence of the Loner Don't know anything about this idea, but certainly would make sense if factored in with other markers of social inadequacy and emotional furnaces such as repressed homosexuality, sexual and social powerlessnes and so on. While the research is on the horrifying instances of killers, I wonder whether the "cynically shy" isolated loner is common to a less extreme defree degree in 'everyday' manifestations of hatred, malevolence, violent language and despair>

POPSField Guide to the Loner: The Real Insiders "Contrary to popular belief, not all loners have a pathological fear of social contact. "Some people simply have a low need for affiliation," says Jonathan Cheek, a psychologist at Wellesley College. "There's a big subdivision between the loner-by-preference and the enforced loner." Those who choose the living room over the ballroom may have inherited their temperament, Cheek says. Or a penchant for solitude could reflect a mix of innate tendencies and experiences such as not having many friends as a child or growing up in a family that values privacy." ...finally, my existence is justified, lol.

POPSGeordie, BC, Male/ Needs Rescue, Adopting/Foster home Geordie is very physical. He loves to run and play fetch. He is very good with children and people, and yet he can be quite the loner. Geordie would be great for someone with a working ranch, so he would have plenty of room to run. He is very good with other dogs. POPSJoachim Fest dies Fest was a biographer of Hitler (supposedly one of the best). His book Inside Hitler's Bunker was source material for the recent German film Downfall , which recounts Hitler's last days. I highly recommend both.
