And the people said "Sock it to them!" "And redistribute their wealth." And the people said, "Show us the money!" And then he said, "redistribution of wealth is good for everybody." clip_image004 And Joe the plumber asked, "Are you kidding me? You're going to steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" And 'The One' ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized. One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was banished from the kingdom! clip_image005 Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge, how will he deal with radical terrorists?" And 'The One' said, "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk with them and show them how nice w

An Open Letter to the Council of the American Physical Society
amgumen
by amgumen  11-2-2009
Studies of a variety of natural processes, including ocean cycles and solar variability, indicate that they can account for variations in the Earth’s climate on the time scale of decades and centuries. Current climate models appear insufficiently reliable to properly account for natural and anthropogenic contributions to past climate change, much less project future climate. The APS supports an objective scientific effort to understand the effects of all processes – natural and human --on the Earth’s climate and the biosphere’s response to climate change, and promotes technological options for meeting challenges of future climate changes, regardless of cause. FBI Demands Tattoo Shops Rat On Customers
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  11-1-2009    3
It is not merely “extremist symbols.” In addition, the FBI literature instructs tattoo shops to be on the look-out for people who change hair color, style of dress, or shave beards between visits. Suspicious people also include those with missing fingers or hands, chemical burns, strange orders or bright colored stains on clothing. Read the handout below for more absurd “extremist” indicators according to the FBI.

Mukyokai & Pacifism
emilswift
by emilswift  10-31-2009
Small weaknesses in the Mukyokai opposition to Japanese Imperialism do not bear comparison with the outright compromise of the organized churches. As previously noted, the main factor in the Mukyokai independence was its lack of organizational structure. The denominational institutions were preoccupied with administrative and organizational survival, whereas the Mukyokai were free to be responsible for their actions as individuals, and therefore to witness their faith with honesty, integrity, and personal freedom.

Stock Shock! The Movie
sahara
by sahara  10-27-2009
The movie exposes a technique known as naked short selling, which has resulted in the collapse of the stock value of some of America’s most promising public companies. Sirius XM, often labeled as one of the most manipulated stocks in the market, is dissected in the movie. “Stock Shock” interviews individual investors who saw their stock price hit a high of $9.00/share and then plummet to a horrifying low of 5 cents in 2009. “Stock Shock” has spurred a grassroots movement helping convince the SEC to enact and make permanent an emergency rule to ban abusive naked short-selling. It’s no wonder. The reviews are impressive: “Shocking and eye-opening!” “It’s an awakening. Academy Award…Stock Shock should get one,” says radio host Jim Puplava of the Financial Sense Newshour. Industry expert and shareholder activist Bud Burrell remarks: “I will give it 10 stars of 10. It is the best doc of this length I have ever seen. I think this will go into the defining literature of this sp

US Marines facing reality
notareargunner
by notareargunner  10-25-2009
They ought to read this blog, they and their inept and idiotic political masters. I had a US former Marine Sgt work for me in Namibia. He could not understand that his two year enlistment did nowhere equate to that of a 15 year regular soldier. Very few of the lessons in soldiering can be gained from the library of military literature. They are gained in the field, from those who have experienced all that service has to offer. The British made an enormous mistake when, after the Falklands, the major slice of experienced senior nco's were forcibly retired. That single instrument allowed second class senior officers to kowtow to their political masters, with disastrous procurement of everything essential from personal weapons to food, through footwear to transport. When General Jackson and his cronies were feathering their pension pots, the skills and loyalty of the squaddie were evaporating on a maelstrom of political correctness and Health & Safety. I heard not a beep out of th

Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk to give Keynote at the Boston Book Festival
shohel01
by shohel01  10-25-2009
We are thrilled and honored that Orhan Pamuk, winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Literature, will give the keynote presentation at the inaugural Boston Book Festival. Pamuk’s new book, The Museum of Innocence, is his first since winning the Nobel Prize and has been eagerly anticipated by his English-language readers. The book was published in Turkey in 2008 but the English edition will be released a mere four days before the Festival. For those who can’t wait, read an excerpt in the September 7 issue of The New Yorker.

Obama Has Won The 100 Metres at The 2012 London Olympics
merrie
by merrie  10-20-2009    4
Thus, with President Wilson alone, the Nobel Peace Prize death toll is over 50 million and counting. Occasionally the peace prize has gone to actual peace negotiators but usually, per Teddy Roosevelt, when there was nothing left to negotiate. Carlos Saavedra Lamas got his in 1936 for mediating between Bolivia and Paraguay in the Chaco War (1932-35). Both nations were exhausted, 100,000 soldiers were dead, and the Chaco was--as it had been and remains--a vast, useless weed patch. Likewise, Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan (1976) and John Hume and David Trimble (1998)--the four of them were standing around when, after 500 years, the fool residents of my ancestral homeland ran out of ammo and beer. Of course, if you go around giving prizes left and right (mostly left) for more than a century, you're bound to give some to worthy people once in a while. With the Nobel committee this usually involves the Red Cross (1901, 1917, 1944, 1963). But the Red Cross doesn't bring peace . . .

Media Ignoring Conservatives' Return to Dominance of Political Book Market
merrie
by merrie  10-15-2009    1
In September of that year, the Boston Globe proclaimed liberals "triumphant" against "conservatives' decade long hold on popular culture." Yes, it seemed such wonderful liberal values were finally en vogue. Barnes and Noble, reacting to the outpouring of Bush-bashing literature in August of 2003 announced that it would set up ‘political science/cultural affairs' tables at its stores to feature the newest partisan works. But conservatives have reclaimed their hold on the Times's bestseller page. The closest any of the top 15 hard-cover non-fiction books gets to a defense of liberalism or the Obama Administration is In Fed We Trust by David Wessel "The books from the left strike me as an obvious reaction to Bush," conservative commentator Tucker Carlson told the Associated Press in 2003. "And for people who buy them, it's a way of voting against him in an off-election year." With Bush gone, liberals no longer have a blatant target at whom to direct a coordinated

Biden and COPS (IACP program) Communitarian
AxXiom
by AxXiom  10-10-2009
Wonder why the "COPS" have gone hog-wild? Our police force is beyond federalized. Pictyure them with blue helmets and it begins to make a lot more sense. "During debates, in interviews and in his campaign literature, Biden contends he was crucial to the crime decline because he sponsored legislation in 1994 creating the Community Oriented Policing Services, or COPS, program that was designed to put 100,000 more sworn officers on the streets through 2001." http://www.sptimes.com/2007/11/05/Worldandnation/Biden_stretches_COPS_.shtml A review of the COPS-funded evaluation by the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO, later renamed the Government Accountability Office) severely criticized the authors’ methodology and concluded: We cannot agree…that their 2001 study shows that some COPS grants (hiring and innovative) significantly reduced crime because, among other things, important variables were omitted from their analyses, the analytic models were misspecified, and the sample
