Let's junk the myths and celebrate what we've got
balthazarus
by balthazarus  10-4-2008    2
Moreover, we need to become responsible versus petty humans; in the words of the article "When you see nothing but junk, create quality. Where quality is hard to find, curate it, adding your own seal of approval with a link. When you read inaccuracies and misunderstandings, add facts, corrections, context and journalism. If people on the internet get things wrong, educate them. When you hear the noise of people talking online, listen." Thumbs up.

TNH: "Some things I know about moderating conversations in virtual space"
Lexica
by Lexica  10-2-2008    1
It’s an inescapable truth that for some people, the most interesting way to participate in online discourse is to kick holes in the conversation. Others—many of them young, but some, alas, old enough to know better—have a sense of entitlement that leads them to believe that their having an opinion means the rest of us are obliged to listen to it. Still others plainly get off on verbally abusing others, and seek out conversations that will offer them opportunities to do so. Teresa Nielsen Hayden, who has been dubbed "the troll whisperer" for her moderation skills, on the dynamics of trolls and flamers, and how to moderate a discussion to encourage participation and discourage rudeness and abusive behavior.

1000% Honest Un-Biased Review of Mike Huckabee On FOX
merrie
by merrie  9-29-2008    1
Well the beginning was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. One of the WORST show openers I have seen on television in this genre in a long long time. Huck’s monologue was slow, forced, weak and COMPLETELY UNFUNNY. It was as painful to watch him beleaguer through it as it was to listen to the handful of ‘forced’ chuckles from the audience. Huck took several questions from the audience, granted none of them very ‘pressing’ or difficult, but random unrehearsed out of the blue questions none the less. He was warm, but too warm . . . even for Huck it was an over the top sense of warmth. His first guess was the lovely Elisabeth Hasselbeck just in case you were curious. Now once the conversation took place betwixt the two it was good! Huck seemed more at ease, Elisabeth was her usual self. You could tell she was genuinely happy for mike and pleased to be there, that was good. There was David Ramsey, Geraldine Ferraro and Alexis Glick (2nd in command over at Fox Business)

Who are Blue Star Families for Obama?
glennbah
by glennbah  9-28-2008    1
We are teachers and lawyers, homemakers and small business owners. We coach soccer and volunteer in our children's schools. And at the end of the day, there is often an empty seat at our kitchen table because our loved ones are serving far from home. We are teachers and lawyers, homemakers and small business owners. We coach soccer and volunteer in our children's schools. And at the end of the day, there is often an empty seat at our kitchen table because our loved ones are serving far from home. We represent all branches of the armed services. We come from small towns, and the big city lights. We are wives, husbands, mothers and fathers. We are daughters, sons, and the entire extended family that gives support during deployments. Our backgrounds may be diverse, but we are united in the cause of service to our country. We are the Military Family.

I just love how the 'mainstream' media never once mentions any of these hearings when discussing how we got in this mess in the first place. After all, don't they have producers, researchers, etc. whose job it is to find this information. The thing is, they don't want this information reported on because it does not fit in their own narrow minded world view of 'blame the Republicans and George W. Bush for everything" model.
