POPSRussian Internet Advances Russia struggles again with bringing more modern services to those who want it. They are saying that "the decrease in the internet charges is to create favorable conditions for the electronic commerce development." Yes, it seems that 21st century business is depending on the internet and computers in general for business communication and applications. I personally was surprised to read of the charges for internet service in Russia being the same or comparable to American charges for service. Russia, in my lifetime, has been so closed and proprietary about their business, that it was a pleasure to read something about the costs of services for their people. Thanks again to epheme (new clipper as of yesterday) for introducing me to this source.

POPSAmerica's Dumbest Congressmen My favorites: Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) making up an excuse to do a debate with his opponent over a satelite linkup, allowing him to read from a teleprompter Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) telling law enforcement officials to be wary of Arabs who "drive taxicabs by day and kill at night". Representative J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) approving of the nativist writings of notorious anti-Semite Henry Ford Representative Donald Young (R-AK) telling high school students that the NEA funds art depicting "buttfucking" Representative Katherine Harris (R-FL) telling voters that a Middle Eastern terorrist was arrested trying to blow up the power grid of Carmel, IN (which came as a surprise to Carmel's mayor and to Indiana's governor). Also: Harris telling her staffters that a speech they had submitted to her was "terrible"--even though it was written by herself two months earlier!
