POPSA2G | Going the IPO route in social network universe? Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn? ___ Reid Hoffman, co-founder and executive chairman of business networking site LinkedIn, has revealed that an IPO is his planned exit strategy, which would also work to the advantage of backers that include Goldman Sachs (GS) and McGraw Hill (MHP). He was coy as to the timing, indicating that it wouldn't be "anytime soon," but spectators suspect that a Facebook IPO would provide a great test case for Hoffman and his team. ___ http://google.twi.bz/Du ___ http://altacities.com

POPSIWE | Welcome the "one billionth" iPhone app Mike Schramm (RSS feed) on Dec 30th 2009 | " ... it seems like they're working as hard as they can just to keep up with what's going on over there. And that seems to be the case with their updated iPhone app as well, just released on the App Store . There's a lot of new features, but as TechCrunch's MG Sielger points out, they're very similar to what's already in the great Facebook app: a revamped UI, the ability to comment on status updates, share pictures, and so on."

POPSTypisch old netherlands thinking, cleaning your social profile friendlist! Now i understand why they are doing it. They want to stay with the core friendslist. But how do they do that? I think they sit down and make 50% emotionel choice of each friend. Yes him, no her, yes him. Good feeling, bad feeling, good feeling.... so it is at the moment choices. ONLY why do you focus at cleaning up your friend list? idiots it is waste of your time, you bring negativity to everyone and we live in the new area. When we were without internet. You can handle and relate with 100 persons. Thanks to the internet we can handle like 25000 people at onces, talk to them and learn from them.

POPS"Social Media? No Way. Social Middleware? Oh, Yes" by Alex Williams for @rww
"Middleware is computer software that connects software components or applications. The software consists of a set of services that allows multiple processes running on one or more machines to interact. This technology evolved to provide for interoperability in support of the move to coherent distributed architectures, which are used most often to support and simplify complex, distributed applications. It includes web servers, application servers, and similar tools that support application development and delivery. Middleware is especially integral to modern information technology based on XML, SOAP, Web services, and service-oriented architecture. Middleware sits "in the middle" between application software that may be working on different operating systems. It is similar to the middle layer of a three-tier single system architecture, except that it is stretched across multiple systems or applications. Examples include EAI software, telecommunications software, transaction monitor

POPSThe Granddaddy of Social Networks This post seems to have two separate thoughts and I will bring them together at the end. First, let’s talk about LinkedIn. Social networking seems to be an entirely new "web 2.0" thing, but it started much earlier. LinkedIn is a great example of early social networking that broke ground for what we have today as Twitter, Facebook, and other social media.
