POPSToxic Drywall Leaving Homeowners in Limbo "This is like the small wave that's out on the horizon that's going to continue to grow and grow until it becomes a tsunami," said Florida attorney David Durkee, who represents hundreds of homeowners who are suing builders, suppliers and manufacturers over the drywall. "This is going to become critical mass very shortly." During the height of the U.S. housing boom, with building materials in short supply, American construction companies imported millions of pounds of Chinese-made drywall because it was abundant and cheap. An Associated Press analysis of shipping records found that more than 500 million pounds of Chinese gypsum board was imported between 2004 and 2008 " enough to have built tens of thousands of homes. They are heavily concentrated in the Southeast, especially Florida.

POPSThe Dirty Dozen x 4 + 2 = US Volunteers for Afghanistan The Dirty Dozen was a good movie for guys in the 1970s. Times the dozen by 4 and a few more. House them in intolerable conditions that even civilian prisoners would not be subjected to, then offer them a way out via a tour in Afghanistan or Iraq. Forget that a bunch of the AWOLs went AWOL becuase they could not handle the stress any more or get proper treatment for PTSD - they just have to fill lsots in Afghanistan. Forget Dirty Dozen - this is Who's in Charge 7 1/2.

POPSBORN TRUE HERMAPHRODITE - Pictorial Profile  For the following four years (1979 to 1983) he lived in a sexual legal limbo, still carrying the original-and-only, valid female I.D. which now appeared both obsolete and fraudulent. On numerous occasions when asked for proof of identification, he was accused of strangely utilizing a 'counterfeit' or 'stolen' I.D. card belonging to some woman.

POPSGinsburg Temporarily Blocks Chrysler Deal Among the likely explanations for her action: * Ginsburg may have decided to share the decision on what to do with her eight colleagues, and they needed more time to think or talk about it. * Members of the Court may have decided that they wanted to give some explanation, or perhaps some may have decided to dissent and wanted a chance to prepare a statement saying so. In the meantime, it was her task, as the Circuit Justice, to impose a limited stay. * Ginsburg or the Court may be waiting to see how the Second Circuit explains its decision to uphold the terms of the sale. The Circuit Court issued no opinion on Friday, indicating that such an explanation would come “in due course,” although the expectation was that one or more opinions would emerge from those judges on Monday.

POPSColleges caught with their buildings half up This is a ridiculous situation. As the clip suggests, this would be a much more sensible thing for the UK government to invest in to help combat the recession than throwing good money after bad into the baking sector, in my view.

POPSDeaths of gamers leave their online lives in limbo This actually sounds like a great idea. I have kept a book with all my online ID's and Passwords. It really came in handy recently when a virus cleaned out all of my documents and photos folders on my computer. I had several of my ID's and Passwords in a folder .. fortunately not complete passwords. just hints I would know. My youngest daughter knows most of my ID's and passwords ... but not all of them. I think I'll look into one of these ... and the USB drive thing sounded like a good idea too.

POPSA Cartoonist's letter to Bush
How many people have had a career in pointing out the horrible and criminal things that Bush has done, futilely putting his atrocities on display before a indolent and laconic nation and an indignant and outraged world? A word of prayer for those very necessary institutions in print, and on the Internet, who are hovering in limbo, wondering if there will be any more horrible actions by the American Government to rant and rail against. Fortunately for them, despite the hope and joy Obama's victory has brought the world, he is still just human, and a politician to boot. He has an almost divine aura granted to him by the media, so unfortunately, he's destined to disappoint, whether due to the foibles of human nature, or the rabid resistance of the right-wing nutbars still in government. He's hoping he can do the best with the situation facing him, and that people remember that he's not a magician. He's just someone who listens (how long his it been since the US had a leader who does

POPSThe George W. Bush Presidential Librarium Due to an apparent lack of funding and support, the completion of the official George W. Bush Presidential Library at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas may be stalled indefinitely. As a result, the public's desire to endlessly relive Bush's greatest achievements may go unanswered for years to come—and his legacy (like America) shall remain in limbo. All hope is not lost. We at Origen & Golan Architects are proud to unveil the plans for The George W. Bush Presidential Librarium! Not only will our themed-attractions approach provide greater family-oriented entertainment than a library, but it will more accurately represent Bush's remarkable and unparalleled legacy. We ask for you support in promoting these plans among your colleagues, and welcome you to join in its realization.

POPSHow Enbarrabutting.... This is America in the 21st Century "My whole career is in limbo," said a bewildered Jim Piculas. He had been a substitute teacher in Pasco County, Fla., for eight months until his boss, Pat Sinclair, called Piculas over a complaint about his time at Rushe Middle School in Land O' Lakes. "She said, 'You've been accused of wizardry'." Piculas says the week before, he did a brief magic trick for his class: he made a toothpick disappear. A piece of tape hid it behind his thumb, and a flick of his fingers brought it back into view. He then showed students how to do the trick. "The whole thing lasted 45 seconds," he said. But Sinclair told him he would not be hired by the district again. (Tampa Tribune) ...And Presto! With the flick of a pen a teacher disappeared.

POPSWashington, Our New Wall Street ~ From Market Economy To Political Economy
by the guy who’d been working hand in glove with Paulson all along — sends the Dow up 500 points in one hour. Monday sees another 400-point increase, the biggest two-day (percentage) rise since 1987. Why? Three political events: Paulson’s weekend Citigroup bailout; the official rollout of Obama’s economic team,— Geithner and Larry Summers; and Paulson quietly walking back from his earlier de facto resignation by indicating he would be ready to use the remaining $350 billion (with Team Obama input) over the next two months. That undid the market swoon — and dramatically demonstrated how politically driven the economy has become. We may one day go back to a market economy. Meanwhile, we need to face the two most important implications of our newly politicized economy: the vastly increased importance of lobbying and the massive market inefficiencies that political directives will introduce. Lobbying used to be about advantages at the margin —
