The Soviet Union’s single party system was a failure due to it’s inability to withstand a dissident attack. The United States two-party system is simply the post-beta form of the Soviet-style political spectrum, with the guise of liberty upon it’s aging fangs. Holding Hands The word paradigm (paradigma), compounded from it’s Greek root word δείχνυμι “to show”, accurately describes the dimension between the left and right party. This paradigm requires a vice grip of social ideology held together for stability. A single party’s influence can break, without a backboard to cater towards any dissidence. Two parties can stand up against one another to create both geometrically and intellectually a more powerful structure that can withstand intense dissidence from each party for one reason: the rebellion of the first party’s ideals are reciprocated by the second.

Not So Liberating: The Twilight of Liberation Theology
Antara

"For a start, there’s little question that liberation theology was a disaster for Catholic evangelization. There’s a saying in Latin America that sums this up: “The Church opted for the poor, and the poor opted for the Pentecostals.”

Selling Their Souls For Fun And Profit
debbyski
by debbyski  12-21-2009
Gay Republicans are like any other Republicans, particularly those mean spirited souls seeking a substitute for a relationship with a heterosexual male that find safety in the twisted kind of intimacy of the denial of personal responsibility their party preaches. They can deny it all they like and they can use their gay friends as distractions but their strain of Republicanism has never been about betraying their principals, but acting on them, such as the concentration of wealth and power in fewer hands, the nation's political polarization, and the disrespect for the system of checks and balances on which our democracy is built. Those are the GOP GOALS.

They Do Things Differently in Mindinao
4ensic

Dirty politics doesn't mean breaking into a rival party headquarters, it involves killing everyone (including a dozen journalists) in a motorcade. About 7,100 of the 7,107 islands are mostly inhabited by kind, civil people. The other places are known for kidnappings of foreigners and continual civil war. There is another characteristic of that minority that is mentioned in the article. Bet you can't guess what it is...

Operation Iraqi Liberation: The Aftermath
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  11-14-2009
Remember wnen O.I.L. was changed to Operation Iraqi Freedom? Just in case you'uns haven't figured the real reason we sent our kids to Iraq, this article will give you the necessary information. More from the article follows: Before the Invasion In January 2000, 10 days into President George W. Bush’s first term, representatives of the largest oil and energy companies joined the new administration to form the Cheney Energy Task Force. As part of its deliberations, the task force reviewed a series of lists titled "Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts" naming more than 60 companies from some 30 countries with contracts in various stages of negotiation. Were Saddam to remain in power and the sanctions to be removed, these contracts would take effect, and the U.S. and its closest ally would be shut out of Iraq’s great oil bonanza. After the Invasion However, organized resistance by Iraqis and people around the world has thus far succeeded in denying Big Oil its Big Prize:

VEE Day
merrie
by merrie  11-9-2009    1
in Alameda, California, we practiced duck-and-cover as well as earthquake drills. Nothing quaint or or historic about it then. Here’s Reagan speechwriter Anthony R. Dolan at the Wall Street Journal on the power of “Four Little Words” … you remember them: “Tear down that wall” … and the earth-shaking ideas they represented as well as the action that backed them. The popular myth is that the wall kind of toppled over by itself, with a little push from people power. That of course ignores not only the prior 44 years of Cold War … interspersed with several hot ones that cost us tens of thousands of American lives … it also ignores the massive military buildup of the 1980s, the encouragement of liberation movements behind the Iron Curtain, the tough engagement with old-school Soviet leaders and, not least, the cordial engagement with a Soviet leader who realized it was time to throw in the towel. An atmosphere was finally created in which people felt like they could

Truth from the women in Afghanistan: (read the whole article for the real story) "In eight years less than 2,000 Talib have been killed and more than 8,000 innocent civilians has been killed," she went on. "We believe that this is not war on terror. This is war on innocent civilians. Look at the massacres carried out by NATO forces in Afghanistan. Look what they did in May in the Farah province, where more than 150 civilians were killed, most of them women and children. They used white phosphorus and cluster bombs. There were 200 civilians on 9th of September killed in the Kunduz province, again most of them women and children. You can see the Web site of professor Marc Herold, this democratic man, to know better the war crimes in Afghanistan imposed on our people. The United States and NATO eight years ago occupied my country under the banner of woman's rights and democracy. But they have only pushed us from the frying pan into the fire. They put into power men who are photocopies o

Malalai Joya, Afghanistan Woman Speaks Out
sahara
by sahara  10-26-2009    1
For expressing my views I have been expelled from my seat in parliament, and I have survived numerous assassination attempts. The fact that I was kicked out of office while brutal warlords enjoyed immunity from prosecution for their crimes should tell you all you need to know about the "democracy" backed by Nato troops. In the constitution it forbids those guilty of war crimes from running for high office. Yet Karzai has named two notorious warlords, Fahim and Khalili, as his running mates for the upcoming presidential election. Under the shadow of warlordism, corruption and occupation, this vote will have no legitimacy, and once again it seems the real choice will be made behind closed doors in the White House. As we say in Afghanistan, "the same donkey with a new saddle".

Two Sisters Out to Change the World – On Motorbikes
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  10-18-2009    6
♫Now, there was a time when they used to say that behind ev'ry great man, there had to be a great woman. But oh, in these times of change, you know that it's no longer true. So we're comin' out of the kitchen, 'cause there's something we forgot to say to you. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves, standin' on their own two feet and ringin' on their own bells. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves. Now, this is a song to celebrate the conscious liberation of the female state. Mothers, daughters, and their daughters too, woh yeah, woman to woman, we're singing with you, ooh, ooh. The "inferior sex" has got a new exterior. We got doctors, lawyers, politicians too, ooh ooh ooh, ooh. Ev'rybody, take a look around. Can you see, can you see, can you see, there's a woman right next to youou. We say, Sisters are doin' it for themselves, standin' on their own two feet and ringin' on their own bells. Sisters are doin' it for themselves ♫ -Annie Lennox

PETA's dirty secrets: 7 things you didn't know about PETA
Lexica
by Lexica  10-13-2009    3
More: regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents.… PETA…fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information… PETA…billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs "died for their sins."…And its infamous "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals. PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases…president Ingrid Newkirk has said that "even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it."
