Cap-and-Trade Will Cause Dems Greater Slaughter in 2010 Midterms

Just what the country needs, a tax that will restrict the economy during an economic down turn. However, Obama seems to be on a liberal suicide mission as he knows that the Democrats are going to get creamed in the 2010 midterms, so why not inflict as much liberal/socialist damage on the US while Donkeys have an overwhelming majority. Because after 2010, Barack Hussein Obama may just be without the House and the Senate. When Liberal Dreams Collide With Public Opinion
merrie
by merrie  12-22-2009    1
"What's really exceptional at this stage of Obama's presidency," writes Andrew Kohut, the Pew Research Center's respected pollster, "is the extent to which the public has moved in a conservative direction on a range of issues. These trends have emanated as much from the middle of the electorate as from the highly energized conservative right. From which we can draw two conclusions. One is that economic distress does not move Americans to support more government. Rasmussen reports that 66 percent of Americans favor smaller government with fewer services and only 22 percent favor more services and higher taxes. The second is that Barack Obama's persuasive powers are surprisingly weak. His advocacy seems to have moved Americans in the opposite of the intended direction. Obama first came to national attention in 2004 by promising to heal partisan, ideological and racial divisions. Like the other two Democratic presidents elected in the last 40 years .....

People In “Fat Cat”-Infested Houses Shouldn’t Throw Stones By Michelle Malkin

Immediately after the speech, he headed to a campaign fundraiser at the Manhattan headquarters of Credit Suisse, one of the major investment companies caught up in the subprime lending debacle. In March 2009, Obama assailed the corporate bonuses handed out by bailout recipient AIG"which had been approved by his own handpicked Treasury Secretary and AIG bailout architect Tim Geithner. But let’s not get distracted. Obama blamed “the system and culture that made them possible"a culture where people made enormous sums of money, taking irresponsible risks that have now put the entire economy at risk.” The irresponsible risk-takers at AIG donated $104,332 to Barack Obama in the 2008 federal election cycle. Since 2004, AIG has donated 60 percent of its $2.6 million in political donations to Democrats. Obama kept the corrupted cash. But I digress. “We don’t need these house of cards, these Ponzi schemes, even when they’re legal, where a relatively few do spectacularly well ...

Barney didn’t do so bad, though. Not so good at managing other people’s money, but a shrewd investor where his own bottom line is concerned. Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of Congress’ financial services committee, which oversaw the banking crisis, suffered relatively minimal losses as his net worth went from an estimated $1.3 million to $972,000, the study found. “The fact is it depends on where people had their money. In my case, I have been most heavily invested in assets that didn’t suffer major losses,” Frank said. “Members of Congress are full participants in the economy - for the good and the bad.” Here’s the net worth of the Massachusetts delegation. Obama the mortal: Democrats weep
infidel70
by infidel70  12-5-2009
This is what happens when true believers mistake a mortal for a messiah. Instead, they're using words such as "O'Bomber" to describe the president. MoveOn.org launched a petition drive against the policy. Code Pink, the group that heckled Bush officials for years, heckled Obama advisers on Capitol Hill last week. The liberal Web publisher Arianna Huffington told Charlie Rose that the policy "puts into question his whole leadership."

Correspondent Chris Reid chimed in: “The president is getting battered on everything from the economy to foreign policy. Some polls show Americans are increasingly questioning his credibility.” The report asserted that while Obama talks about dealing with unemployment, which is over 10 percent and expected to rise, he has developed “no new ideas” for dealing with the problem. CBS also cited a poll showing that only 14 percent of Americans believe Obama’s claim that healthcare reform won’t add to the budget deficit, and only 7 percent believe that the stimulus has created any jobs at all. The report also criticized the president for being “indecisive” on Afghanistan, and for returning from his recent Asian trip “with little to show for it.” An expert was quoted as describing his trip as the “amateur hour,” as he did not line up agreements with foreign countries before venturing abroad.

policies are too closely geared to Wall Street. "Quite frankly, all the gambling on Wall Street is doing nothing to put people back to work in America and rebuild our economy," he said. The tension comes amid a growing unease from Democrats as they approach the 2010 midterm elections with the unemployment rate at 10.2%. Several Capitol Hill aides said support for Mr. Geithner has frayed, but noted he makes an easy target for critics because he is considered the face of White House economic policy. Overshadowing third-quarter economic growth of 3.5% are fears about the weak state of the job and housing markets. Rank-and-file lawmakers have come under increasing pressure at home to address the shaky economy, said several Democratic leadership aides. House Democratic leaders have vowed to take up job-creating legislation in December. Mr. Geithner has played a lead role in the White House's response to the economic crisis and tried to steer a middle ground .....

The title of the lecture is: "From Ayn Rand to Ken Feinberg — How Quickly the Paradigm Shifts. What Should Be the Rationale for Government Participation in the Market?" The answer: the only rationale for Demonrats like Spitzer to seize control of the economy is that they think they can get away with it.

Economic Stimulation

by merrie  11-5-2009    1
I’m a little late to today’s economic-stimulus exasperation party. Sorry. I was busy working at my unstimulated private-sector job, which uses pulp, ink, trucks, pens, notebooks and a lot of eletronics plus electricity and employs hundreds of taxpayers directly and indirectly to tell people how the hacks are trying to shaft them in Boston. It was great. I enjoyed it. Even though, far from looking for or getting any support, we’ve had to fight the government over simple things like the freedom to enter business relationships with other news organizations that might have made us more financially viable. Thank you, Ted Kennedy, liberal lion.

Hope-n-Change Futures Are Down Across The Board

When asked about Obama’s policy agenda, in November 2008 the responses split 43/45 (Liberal/Moderate) while recently the split was 54/34 (Liberal/Moderate). These are just a couple of highlights of the questions and I encourage you to check out the interactive data for the suprising shifts in the publics attitudes, especially the priorities and the policy expectations. But based on the results it’s becoming clearer that the public perception of Obama 1 year ago is vastly different from the President the public has come to know. In fact, to use the formula of the President himself, the public thinking is, “This is not the Obama we thought we elected.” >>Read more http://powip.com/2009/10/hope-n-change-futures-are-down-across-the-board/

Thus, by virtue of his election to the presidency nearly one year ago, he believes he has the authority to establish a new paradigm to "fundamentally transform" our nation by creating "a new foundation." However, if we are a nation of laws with a national government limited by our Constitution, and, indeed, we are, then Obama has no legal authority to "transform" our government. Those who laid our constitutional foundation were very clear about its limits on government. Our Constitution's principle author, James Madison, wrote, "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce."

One of The Biggest Bait-And-Switch Acts in History

I'm thinking it's time to pronounce Obama and his agenda precisely what they are - socialist and looking to bring down the last great remaining free capitalist system in the world so as to bring it in line with too much else of a statist world. What else can one call it with any degree of honesty? Certainly liberal no longer serves. The Left abandoned classic liberalism a decade ago. And the New Left has only gotten worse. It's time to draw the battle lines more clearly, start speaking of what freedom, capitalism, individualism and self-determinism actually are and explain to people how they won't be much of anything in some new Obama-designed state. It's time to forget about compromise and begin rejecting Obama and his grand plans completely as he and they deserve for being un-American in the most important meanings of the word. Obama sold his healthcare proposal as a way to reduce costs and help the economy. But, Pawlenty says,

"Architects of Ruin"

throw out common sense and decades of experience in order to make loans that were almost certain to go unpaid. The effort was launched during the Carter administration but really gained momentum and a head of steam during the Clinton years. (GOPers shouldn't feel too smug as the Bush administration continued and even expanded the practice). "Architects of Ruin" can be advance-ordered now on Amazon.com. No doubt, it will generate a flood of negative reviews from liberals in the mainstream media and their allies in the political and academic worlds in part because of sensational tidbits like the fact White House Chief of Staff was paid "more than $46,000 an hour as a board member for Freddie Mac ." What caught my eye today, though, concerns a little known fact about a long-forgotten class-action lawsuit filed in 1994 by three young trial lawyers, one of whom just happens to be sitting in the Oval Office today as president.

G-20 Summit Begins
sahara
by sahara  9-20-2009
The speakers at the rally were diverse internationally, if not philosophically. They included Walden Bello, an antiglobalist professor at the University of the Philippines and representative in that country's Congress; James Quilligan, economic adviser to former President Jimmy Carter, former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and former French President Francois Mitterand; and Anna Pinto, program director of the Center for Organization, Research and Education in northeast India. Generally, the speakers believe the G-20 controls the global economy on behalf of banks and transnational corporations, at the expense of most citizens. "The G-20 as a mechanism to save globalization is doomed to fail," Bello said. Quilligan mocked security preparations, including plans for more than 3,000 police officers downtown, as the "biggest mobilization of security in Pittsburgh history since the French and Indian War."

And You Thought This Was All About Health Care… by Doug O'Brien

and to begin to collect on its political debt. Hot on the heels of the inauguration labor sought to cash its first big check and push the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) through Congress to eliminate the secret ballot for union organizing elections and allow strong arm tactics to “recruit” new members by putting a card in front of them and politely asking them to sign it. Poll numbers consistently showed strong opposition among the public to this idea and the administration quickly realized they couldn’t cover this check. But there are always new ways to achieve your objectives when the President is your loyal supplicant. The Service Employees International Union provided an estimated $160 million to the Obama campaign and related political advocacy groups and put thousands of its paid organizers on the streets to stump for Democrats. SEIU’s top recruiting priority is unionizing hundreds of thousands of health care workers across the nation. What better way to get .

That's the core issue here, conservative policies are INHUMANE, war, plundered economy and constitutional rights, laws that let corp. scam artists run amok... (pro-choice hate mongering) If the question was asked ... what kind of policy do Americans support without context to politics, the majority of people's answers would be "liberal" and "moderate" on issues such as job security, regulations of financial institutions, universal health coverage, education and social security. A well-regulated...

I am, in general, a liberal free-marketeer. Light and efficient government regulation is needed and in some sectors more of it than in others, but taken in a gross overall picture, I tend to agree with the maxim "the less government the better". It seems the Japanese have just decided to take a different route. I for one still think the "American model" with some adjustments for context is more honest, at a genetic level, to the human experience and thus is more likely to promote innovative solutions to problems. But I also know that, in nature, diversity is resilience so perhaps it is good that the Japanese have decided on a different course. One that, perhaps, fits their context better than the "American model" (or what they took to be the "American model") did. We will see how this plays out now that history has restarted its engines.

Obama, singing a song to himself
Roque Nuevo

To document our pessimism about the Obamoid government, Michael Barone introduces a new slant on analyzing ideologies in the US"lyrical leftism. Leftists of the past were able to mobilize people in the expansion of the state through war"Wilson and Roosevelt used their wars to take control of wide swaths of the economy. Leftists today are "lyrical" when they repudiate the state's use of force and celebrate diversity. It's just singing in the wind. This is the "basic contradiction in what the party and the liberal movement stand for," according to Barone.

Perceptions of Obama by Likely Voters
Ilsadago1
by Ilsadago1  8-23-2009
"It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obama's numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. That's because some of the President's most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote. Other factors are also important to consider when comparing Job Approval ratings from different polling firms. For more measures of the President's performance, see Obama By the Numbers and recent demographic highlights from the tracking polls. "

Climate Legislation Means Voting Against Prosperity

Some Democrats want to avoid voting on a measure that would force companies to get pollution permits, said Daniel Weiss, an energy and climate specialist for the Center for American Progress, a Washington public policy group that advises Democrats and supports a cap-and-trade system. “There is a lot of wishful thinking on the part of some senators,” Weiss said in an interview. “They want to do what is easy, not what is needed.” Put another way, they want to appear to be abiding by the wishes of the far-left liberal wing of the party that’s being lead by Obama while not actually murdering the economy, and plunging their constituents into the exact opposite of prosperity, with a carbon bill that amounts to a massive new tax on, well, pretty much everything. Plus, some of these Democrats (like, ahem, Dorgan and Conrad) come from states that are very rich in things like coal and oil. Obama's Great Race to Change America By Victor Davis Hanson

But he has earned almost no bipartisan support for his proposed legislation. After six months in office, he still blames George Bush for much of the country's problems. When Attorney General Eric Holder called Americans "cowards" for not discussing race honestly, when Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor claimed Latina judges would make wiser decisions than white male judges in some cases, and when the president himself said police had "stupidly" arrested his friend Henry Louis Gates, the public saw more of the old tired identity politics. And despite promises of a new ethics in Washington, there are still tax avoiders and revolving-door lobbyists in the Obama administration just like in any other past presidency. Third, there is a vague sense of foreboding about the future and the direction the country is going. The amount of money George Bush proposed the government borrow at the end of his presidency now looks small. "Trillion" has replaced "billion" as the common . . .
