POPSMcDonald’s Caves In To Anti-Gay Group Demands Sadly, Mickey D has decided to permit a homophobic hate group dictate their corporate policies. Giving into these boycotts does nothing but encourage groups, such as this one, to continue to strong-arm major businesses to discriminate against gays and lesbians. I am hoping my GLBT friends will refuse to do any business with McDonalds.

POPSElderly gays forging new alliances There are over 2.5 million gay seniors in the U.S. All of them have lived through the days when being gay meant facing discrimination, job loss, familial animosity, alienation of friends etc. But times have changed, and gay seniors have new recognition as important members of society. Sage, is a new organization, supported by AARP that helps gay seniors live the kind of lives to which they are entitled. Finally, elders who happen to be gay, can join us younger gays in taking our place in the new freedoms, being granted us in the ever expanding acceptance and tolerance of society. Things are far from perfect, but we are definitely getting there.

POPSFierce fight over Arizona anti-gay amendment Arizona failed to ban same-sex marriage in 2006, so now they are trying again. The religious right is out full-time trying to rev up the hatred of gays and lesbians in order to make sure we do not acquire the same civil rights every other citizen possesses. There is good reason to believe this vote will fail again, but just for the record, Senator McCain is fully in favour of this ban on gays having equal rights. Any gays out there planning to vote for McCain, puhleeze think again.

POPSOut in Hollywood: Starring Roles are Rare “The industry is persuaded that being known as gay will undermine your credibility both as romantic lead or an action star,” said Larry Gross, director of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California and author of a book on media portrayals of gays and lesbians. “They don’t test it,” he said. “We’re waiting for the Jackie Robinson moment when someone tests that assumption and discovers it’s not true.”

POPS"Democratic Iraq" promoting Islamic deathsquads against gays Reporter Peter Tatchell- Saddam Hussein was a bloody tyrant. I campaigned against his blood-stained misrule for nearly 30 years. But while Saddam was president, there was certainly no danger of gay people being assassinated in their homes and in the street by religious fanatics. Since his overthrow, the violent persecution of lesbians and gays is much worse. Even children suspected of being gay are abducted and later found shot in the head.

POPSWe Are Family "If Blankenhorn were truly concerned about the state of marriage and children in this country, he would support social policies that would really help protect children. He could also adopt one of the tens of thousands of children who languish in foster care waiting for new parents."

POPSIn Conservative Nepal, a Tribune for the ‘Third Gender’ Speaks Out This is a terrific story about a youngish man, who has decided to buck the ultra-Conservative views of his country, Nepal, and its politics, and fight, ever so gently, for equal recognition of gays, lesbians, transgendered and other sexual minorities. I love stories like these. It gives me a much more positive outlook and the inherent fairness of the human race.

POPSDancing At The Bar I'll never forget the first time I went to a gay bar with my straight friends. Bless their hearts; they loved me so much that they wanted to take me there and they knew I didn't have the guts to go alone. Such good intentions. So, it was a mixed club scene with gays and lesbians and of course the curious straight crowd. What struck me was the feeling I had when I walked through the door. It was a homecoming of sorts for me and of course I kept that to myself. I frantically looked around and wanted to see if anyone noticed my reaction, but my friends were all too busy making fun of the queers in there. They leaned over to me and said "You aren't a freak like all these people debby; you aren't!" Somehow they thought that was a compliment. But I was exactly like everyone else in that bar on the inside and when they were making fun of others, they were making fun of me too.

POPSThe Extreme-Right Way To Make A Buck "Actually, it's a little darker than that. Corsi doesn't just belong to the right's conspiratorial wing, he belongs to its racist, white-supremacist fringe. Over the last couple of years, he's written disparagingly about Muslims, Catholics and Jews, not to mention gays and lesbians. Muslims are "ragheads," the pope is "senile" and tolerates "boy bumping," and Jews ... well, you can imagine. The fact of the matter is, though, that Corsi doesn't so much aspire to participate as he does to profit. n former years, Americans' ideology was influenced by their participation in the economy. To put it crudely, businesspeople tended to find a home in the Republican Party, working men and women in the Democratic Party. Today, we have a new class, one to which Corsi and his ilk belong, whose business is their ideology."

POPSBlack-White Differences in Attitudes Toward Homosexuality and Gay Rights This article uses responses from almost seven thousand blacks and forty-three thousand whites in 31 surveys conducted since 1973 to give more definitive answers on black-white attitudinal differences and their demographic roots. Despite their greater disapproval of homosexuality, blacks' opinions on sodomy laws, gay civil liberties, and employment discrimination are quite similar to whites' opinions, and African Americans are more likely to support laws prohibiting antigay discrimination. Once religious and educational differences are controlled, blacks remain more disapproving of homosexuality but are moderately more supportive of gay civil liberties and markedly more opposed to antigay employment discrimination than are whites. Yet religion, education, gender, and age all have weaker impacts on black than on white attitudes, suggesting that black and white attitudes have different roots.

POPSWTF? Ok, this is funny, but keep those "straight" girls away from me please!!!! I think I agree with the author that they have the potential to offend! Besides, sleeping with your best friend is kinda, well . . . icky. "Don't sleep with your drummer" sounds so much more profound to me.

POPSSexuality Bias Seen "Banks said she believed the rumors were started by other attorneys in the Grand Rapids office who eventually landed jobs at the Justice Department in Washington. She declined to identify them. Monday's report also said that Goodling used an Internet search that included the words "gay" and "homosexual" to screen candidates and their backgrounds." Well now! We used to play a game in school called "Gossip". We'd line up several people and start a sentence and everyone changed it a little while whispering into each other's ear. Of course it was unrecognizable at the end and we would all laugh. The point of the game was to show the social implications of pettiness. So why would anyone care about sexual orientation at the Justice Department in the first place? Ah, back to that wicked game of gossip and backstabbing to get ahead eh? No better way than to call them lesbians.

POPSPart time MP's
Why has Andrew Alexander tried to steal my thunder? Convincing the public that if an MP writes to the local Health Authority, he/she is only doing their duty is remarkable. What makes matters worse is if, as in Blackpool, you have ineffectual Parliamentary representation, it is compounded by totally useless councillors. Much of the problem solving is local and should be undertaken by Councillors. Not so long ago,a former serviceman was working but could not find affordable accommodation. It took three years of pestering and cajoling before the Council could find habitable space for this disabled person, injured in the line of duty. Yet all around, DSS fraudsters duped the system and lived purely by their own rules. Couples open co-habitat at the tax payers expense. If you complain you are hit with the homophobia/race card. How come health young lesbians can afford taxis for every journey when truly disabled people have to use a bus pass? And anyone who had ventured down Hors
