POPSWill Tone of MSNBC Change w/Comcast Merger? I have a pretty basic Comcast package and ever since I heard people complaining that they removed the MEssNBC, I found it up on stn.#128, away from the more "regular" channels, so I'd advise one to scan their sets, you may still have it. (I can't believe I'm helping anyone find the thing;-) Anyway, I think it would be too obvious for Comcast to make it any more scarce. Maybe it's just as well to keep those nutjobs (Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, etc.) all in one place where they think they've really got something goin' on. Otherwise who knows what kind of hell they'd raise with their whining.

POPSIdiots in the News I thought the "birther movement" was a dead horse to most sane people. Well, it just goes to show you that insanity/stupidity is alive and well in good ole Georgia.

POPS And Tonight’s Winner of the Sputtering Idiotic Partisan Hyperbole Award Is… The Republicans and FOX News are not the enemies of health care. They are opposed to a massive government expansion that can only be brought about through prohibitive costs maintained by a confiscatory tax scheme, and that by its very nature will restrict individual liberties, and restrict freedom of choice in ways that the government simply has no authority to assert. The Republicans and FOX News are not the enemies of education. They simply realize that despite the fact that the federal government has over time usurped power over the field of education that rightly belongs to the states and their subject governments, there is no Constitutional authority for the federal government to continually interfere in education and foist a politically correct agenda onto the American Peoples’ children, nor is there any legal justification to supplant the parents’ rightful opinions for their own. POPSWashington cuts Wall Street's allowance But none of that stopped right-wing critics of Obama's alleged march to totalitarianism from piling on. "This is fascism," Rush Limbaugh burbled on his radio show. "They're still privately owned, but they're being run by who? Not even Obama, we're told. The freaking pay czar, who doesn't even have to tell Obama what he's doing. So he doesn't have to stop at the execs; he can limit the pay of the janitors. He can limit the pay of anybody he wants, and pretty soon it's gonna spread beyond companies that took TARP money." Fox News posted a lengthy article wondering whether Feinberg even had the legal power to set the pay caps, though there's broad agreement elsewhere that he does. "If bankers don't challenge this, if they supinely accept it out of fear of what the government will do if they do challenge ... then you have a nation of sheep," Fox's legal analyst, Andrew Napolitano, said.

POPSEvicted for Reporting Domestic Abuse To add insult to injury, this past July Cleaves-Milan received a call from a collection agency seeking nearly $3,800 they claimed she owed for the early termination of her lease. She returned home a day after telling police her boyfriend threatened to kill her to find a 10-day eviction notice taped to her door. She didn't terminate her lease early – she was given no choice in the matter. Luckily Aimco dropped this fee, but only after the Chicago Tribune inquired. This story is horrific and unfortunately not uncommon. While the Violence Against Women Act of 2005 protects domestic abuse victims who live in public or subsidized housing from eviction, the law concerning private landlords is unclear. This lack of protection for women who rent in the private market creates a disincentive for women to report abuse, trapping women, and often their children, in violent relationships with no legal recourse.

POPSACORN Video: Prostitution Scandal in Philadelphia, PA Part I
posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend, soliciting advice about a possible housing loan from workers in the Philadelphia office of ACORN Housing Corp. Previous videos showed the same pair, also posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend, visiting ACORN offices in other cities. The Philadelphia visit is significant because of a dispute over statements ACORN has made defending what took place when Giles and O'Keefe visited the Philadelphia office last summer. Supporters of O'Keefe and Giles said ACORN has lied about whether the two were thrown out of the Philadelphia office, how much time they spent there and whether they explicitly told ACORN workers that Giles was a prostitute. At a news conference, O'Keefe went through an edited version of what he said was a 32-minute visit to the Philadelphia office. "At no point were we kicked out, at no time were we asked to leave," O'Keefe said after playing the video. http://biggovernment.com/

POPSSenate Shot Down Czar-Defunding Amendment..But Good News…
“It is unfortunate that a procedural tactic” was used to prevent an up-or-down vote on the amendment, Collins said. Under the amendment, no funds would have been provided for the White House policy coordinators unless the President allows them to appear before congressional panels and that they submit biannual reports to committees with jurisdiction over their policy issues. (CongressDaily, Sept. 25, 2009) But, Tapper reports that the Senate will hold hearings on the constitutionality and history of czars on October 6, thanks to Russ Feingold, who has been pushing for it. Earlier this month the liberal lawmaker asked the White House to identify the czars’ “roles and responsibilities, and provide the judgment(s) of your legal advisors as to whether and how these positions are consistent with the Appointments Clause” in Article II, section 2 of the Constitution, which states that the President “shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate,

POPS All-Aboard America: ObamaCare's Big Balloon Ride Hullabaloo: “We were working on an experimental craft. I call it the 3D-LAV, a low altitude-vehicle for people to pull out of their garages and hover over traffic for about 50 to 100 feet. It’s in the very early stages of the invention. But this little guy decided to kept going inside the utility compartment underneath. So anyway, this little guy got inside of it. I thought he did, anyway … “ OK, that’s not exactly how Digby put it. (With a nod to Fausta, who suggested in an email that Obama may want to pump some helium into his own ratings. She notes the Weather Channel is the only one he doesn’t dominate . Maybe, but it looks like some of the gas is coming out.)

POPSCalif. Lawyer Who Challenged Obama Citizenship Fined $20,000
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of watching one of her press conferences, then you can't truly appreciate the "train wreck" that is Orly Taitz, Attorney-at-Law. Ms. Taitz is a leader in the so-called "Birther Movement," the movement that challenges President Obama's right to hold office on the grounds that he is not a U.S. citizen. The ABA Journal Law News Now reports that a federal judge in Georgia fined Taitz $20,000 for her wild accusations in court and ordered her not to pursue any further frivolous actions in court - ever. In my opinion, this should render Taitz unable to practice law. Not to be dissuaded, Taitz filed a motion for reconsideration the next day. This motion was apparently denied, the judge writing, “Counsel’s wild accusations may be protected by the First Amendment when she makes them on her blog or in her press conferences, but the federal courts are reserved for hearing genuine legal disputes, not as a platform for political rhetoric and

POPSVaccine revolt! Swine flu vaccine support crumbles as flimsy rationale for H1N1 shots becomes appare Popular support for the vaccine is crumbling by the day, and health authorities are now turning to exaggerated scare stories to try to drum up demand for their vaccines. Where scientific credibility is lacking, fear is being invoked in its place. Why the swine flu vaccine doesn't add up So why is the justification for the swine flu so flimsy? It all comes down to these five crucial reasons being pushed by the vaccine industry... but as you'll see below, each of these five reasons is demonstrably false! Reason #1) The H1N1 swine flu pandemic is dangerous and deadly! Why it's flimsy: While the infection rate of H1N1 is currently high, the fatality rate is remarkably low. In fact, it's no higher than a normal, seasonal flu.

POPSRon Clark Academy Obamacare Rap on CNN (Propaganda Video) The kids from Ron Clark Academy were featured on CNN singing a definitely pro Obamacare song . CNN made no qualms about not only letting the kids rap in favor of healthcare reform, but they also displayed the lyrics loud and clear for all to see. The left in this country has a clear and sometimes not so clear agenda, but an agenda none the less. It’s simply reprehensible that the left would stoop to the level of using school children to push that agenda. The Ron Clark Academy video on CNN proves that without a doubt. POPSNurses in Washington State file lawsuit against forced "swine flu" jab "MultiCare’s unilateral implementation of this policy blatantly ignores their legal obligation to bargain with the union," said Barbara Frye, the association's assistant executive director of labor relations. "Their refusal to bargain and to cease and desist forced us to take this extraordinary measure to seek relief from federal court," she said. The union said MultiCare’s proposed plan would require unvaccinated nurses to wear a surgical mask at all times while on duty even though there is a lack of research showing that masks actually prevent flu transmission. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/63144732.html
