While Schwenkler does not appear in the state’s voter registration database, a person by that name in November 2008 received $500 from a political 527 committee called Colorado Citizens Coalition for “communications,” according to campaign finance disclosures. The accountant for the 527 appears to be the same woman who handles the books for many other Democratic-leaning political committees.

Also, while it is the Christian's obligation to look after the widows and the poor, Paul specifically told the Thessalonians in his 2nd letter to them, that if a healthy able bodied brother will not work he will not eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10) Socialism on the other hand, not only promotes but demands that those who work will feed those who are lazy and will not work. This is not what Christ taught. Jesus did not have the Good Samaritan in Luke's Gospel tell the injured man in the road to seek a government social worker. They have turned out in droves to town hall meetings and other gatherings to ask questions or to simply object to the plan, as is their wont. We have seen push-back against the elderly on the part of Democrats, who claimed that the very people who fought the Nazis were carrying swastikas, or were only attending these gatherings in order to get on YouTube. We have even watched as representatives of special interest groups funded by seniors walk out of the very meetings which they staged, ostensibly for the benefit of those very seniors. My parents provide shining examples of the American dream: they grew up poor and never minded it, attended fantastic universities, and went on to have successful careers which neither wants to abandon, even though they are now 65. My father is a war hero four times over.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg helped swear in the 193 members of the NYC Civic Corps' first class Thursday. He was joined by Nicola Goren, the acting CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service. The corporation is the federal agency that runs AmeriCorps VISTA, which is providing the NYC Civic Corps members. They'll work full-time for a modest living allowance, health benefits and education grants. They'll help 57 nonprofit groups find more volunteers and deploy them strategically.
