POPSHe's Being Judged On The Content Of His Character....
just now finally focusing on the details of Barack Obama. To the extent that his being black was ever supposed by anyone to be "scary" to white voters, that's now disappeared for all but the most entrenched, most irredeemable outright racists. Here's my message, then: America, you need not feel guilty for being afraid of Barack Obama. It's not racist to doubt his character and experience and judgment. It's not racist to conclude that they're lacking. He has already proved that a black man can run an entirely viable campaign for the presidency of the United States. Every one of us who looks forward to a post-racist, post-racial society — one in which we've ended racial discrimination because we've stopped discriminating on the basis of race — can be proud. But we can also refuse to vote for Barack Obama for reasons unrelated to race, and we can do so without feeling any guilt whatsoever. In his own mangled metaphor from the second debate, Barack Obama is still "green behind the ea

POPSThe Years He Won’t Discuss May Explain The Ayers Tie He Denies
transparent whitewashing of the Obama/Ayers tie, the paper claimed that the pair first met earlier in 1995, “at a lunchtime meeting about school reform in a Chicago skyscraper ” That storyline is preposterous too, but it is also a marked revision of the paper’s prior account (which, naturally, reporter Scott Shane fails to mention). Why the change? The tacit concession was forced by Stanley Kurtz and Steve Diamond — whom the Times chooses not to acknowledge but who hover over Shane’s sunny narrative like a dark cloud. Despite all manner of stonewalling by Obama, Ayers and their allies, these commentators have doggedly pursued information about the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. That’s the $150+ million “education reform” piggy bank substantially controlled in the nineties by Ayers and Obama, who doled out tens of millions of dollars to Leftist radicals — radicals who, like their patrons, understood that control over our institutions, and especially our schools, . . . .

POPSMore Mud Slung At McCain (Ties to Nazi Collaborators) McCain has said previously he resigned from the council in 1984 and asked in 1986 to have his name removed from the group's letterhead. "I didn't know whether (the group's activity) was legal or illegal, but I didn't think I wanted to be associated with them," McCain said in a newspaper interview in 1986. Singlaub does not recall any McCain resignation in 1984 or May 1986. Nor does Joyce Downey, who oversaw the group's day-to-day activities. "That's a surprise to me," Singlaub said. "This is the first time I've ever heard that. There may have been someone in his office communicating with our office." "I don't ever remember hearing about his resigning, but I really wasn't worried about that part of our activities, a housekeeping thing," said Singlaub. "If he didn't want to be on the board that's OK. It wasn't as if he had been active participant and we were going to miss his help. He had no active interest. He certainly supported us."

POPSThe government double whammy As only government can do. The thing that troubles me the most is the insistence that many of these problems were caused by inner city mortgages and low-income earners. I know this is mostly hate-filled, leftist, BS propaganda meant only to further division in this country, but I have heard the same in the mainstream media. We should not forget that there are millions of people who who bought more house than they could afford and most are upper income folks. Don't fall into the cess-pool with the likes of these hate-filled morons.

POPSLeft In Dark Times - Bernard-Henri Levi Video sent to me by a Clipmarks friend. There are some things I disagree with with, for example, his quick brush with the idea that fascism and racism are necessary components of one another. I think his natural leftism makes him unable to stomach the idea that organic society is directly opposed to a pure liberalism. That aside, this is an eloquent and enlightening take on the leftist movement taking place on the world stage. Some things he says he touches on in his book: 1. Left v Liberal. What does being on the left mean? 2. Freedom v. equality 3. Can the free market be something other than the "kingdom of the greedy". ( IMO: It is created the kingdom of the greedy by the progressive legislative process, the same way the Unions were strengthened and destroy the industries they are involved in. Housing market, anyone?). 4. A return to idea of Nationalism by the Left.

POPS An American Triumph This film is thoughtcrime. By rights, it should not exist, and a decade ago could never have been made. Yet it keeps the laughs rolling while enlisting some of the industry’s biggest talents to expose every pseudo-intellectual pillar of Hollywood wisdom about the War on Terror – Samizdat with a smile. It should be celebrated on those grounds alone. Cast (in credits order) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190617/fullcredits#cast

POPS Inside Obama’s Acorn ....with a “1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism” to match. Acorn, says Stern, grew out of “one of the New Left’s silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.” The theory, explains Stern, was that an impossibly overburdened welfare system would force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.” Instead of a socialist utopia, however, we got the culture of dependency and family breakdown that ate away at America’s inner cities — until welfare reform began to turn the tide. he targets and strategy have changed. Acorn prefers to fly under the national radar, organizing locally in liberal urban areas — where, local legislators and reporters are often “slow to grasp how radical Acorn’s positions really are.” In Your Face Just think of Code Pink’s well-known operations (threatening to occupy congressional offices, interrupting the testimony of General David Petraeus) and you’ll get the idea.

POPSHugo Chavez and Our Constitution First, I think we should use the constitution that we have. Maybe we wouldn't have all the problems that we are currently having. And of course spoken like a true left wing loon, "It was capitalism that caused the ruin." No, Hugo, do your homework, it was the ruling elite in this country that caused the ruin.

POPSThe Left's Fierce Hostility to Sarah Palin's Fecundity Every woman has the "right to choose" her own path through life, but it's a lazy assumption to take for granted that most Americans find Sarah Palin's choices as freakish as our metropolitan elites do. What was it the feminists used to say? "You can have it all." Sarah Palin is a mom, and the first female governor of her state. But the enforcers at the National Organization of Women dismiss her as "more a conservative man than she is a woman". Golly. These days, NOW seems to have as narrow and proscriptive a view of what women are permitted to be as any old 1950s sitcom dad.

POPSObama and Ayers' $100 Million Piggy Bank Hussein Obama had a chance to improve the education of poor black children. Instead he poured money into radical leftist community organizations that could help him in his future political campaigns. Standard Operating Procedure for urban politicians all across the country.

POPSLeftist Economic Nonsense It was astonishing to hear Maxine Waters openly discuss nationalizing the oil industry. She was talking to the heads of America’s oil companies, and she was a little worked up, so it was also possible to say that it was just one person, speaking impulsively in a moment of anger, and easily dismissed. What left most conservatives and libertarians staring in slack jawed wonder was when Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) stood before the press and advocated nationalizing the oil refineries. While most have known about the socialist beliefs of the left, what surprised them was the matter of fact manner in which they were suggesting socialist controls over the oil industry. Finally, the socialist trifecta was complete with Obama supporter Malai Lazu, of the non-profit group Oil Change International calling for “price controls” on Neal Cavuto’s “Your World.” As she simply put it, “When Congress can set prices, Congress can set prices.”

POPSThe Extreme-Right Way To Make A Buck "Actually, it's a little darker than that. Corsi doesn't just belong to the right's conspiratorial wing, he belongs to its racist, white-supremacist fringe. Over the last couple of years, he's written disparagingly about Muslims, Catholics and Jews, not to mention gays and lesbians. Muslims are "ragheads," the pope is "senile" and tolerates "boy bumping," and Jews ... well, you can imagine. The fact of the matter is, though, that Corsi doesn't so much aspire to participate as he does to profit. n former years, Americans' ideology was influenced by their participation in the economy. To put it crudely, businesspeople tended to find a home in the Republican Party, working men and women in the Democratic Party. Today, we have a new class, one to which Corsi and his ilk belong, whose business is their ideology."

POPSCluebat Applied to the AGW Again... Content Warning, but excellent Fisking of the AGW nonsense. POPSWill The Real Barack Obama Please Stand Up? Without a TelePromTer staring him down, he's an inarticulate, bumbling mess. He lies continuously about his past and his present, including important details concerning his upbringing and personal associations. He shamelessly takes all sides of all issues, changing his public positions to suit what he thinks people want to hear -- far in excess of the boilerplate, mendacious blather put forth by most other politicians. Subjected to a rootless upbringing by a self-absorbed, radical leftist mother, and abandoned by a self-absorbed, hard-drinking philandering father, he sought refuge, meaning and personal grounding in drugs and in the hateful words and destructive ideologies of men like Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger and William Ayers. What are the odds that the Times's Nicholas Kristof will release the tape recording of that Obama interview so that language experts can determine whether or not Obama's Arabic accent is indeed "first rate?"

POPS The Left vs Free Speech The truly outrageous aspect of such comparisons is that the American left, with its Stalin-redux willingness to rearrange history, neglects to mention that, outside of Japan, all of the 20th century's great totalitarian regimes had roots on the political left. It wasn't just Lenin and Stalin whose propaganda machine prefigured MoveOn. Nazi is an acronym for "National Socialist." Read Mein Kampf. It isn't a tribute to free-market capitalism, folks. Mussolini was a populist. Mao was a leftist, as was Pol Pot. The last century's worst censors and book burners all emerged from leftist ideologies. As this column recently pointed out, Support Our Troops, Bring Them Home! disappeared from the political scene the instant Obama called for sending those troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan, instead of back to Fort Hood. For the hardcore left, the party line always trumps conscience. MoveOn isn't new - it's just Pravda with poor punctuation.

POPSMore on Obamanomics Obama's economic plan also calls for mandating a "living wage." He plans to saddle retailers with a $10 minimum wage indexed to inflation, along with a mandate to provide seven days of paid sick leave to workers. Obama assumes business owners will just eat the added costs.
