It is always in your best interest to retain an experienced South Florida divorce lawyer like myself, who is sensitive to your situation and needs I am focused on helping my clients resolve divorce disputes through mediation. The advantages of mediation include: it is voluntary and non-binding; the parties control the scheduling and can expedite resolutions, if desired; the process may be less stressful than a trial or other court hearing; and mediation is generally more cost-effective than contested litigation. If matters cannot be resolved through mediation I have the knowledge and expertise and supporting staff to litigate all matters before the trial judge. Pope Quits: Says One Billion Catholics Are Wrong
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-28-2009    1
Jesuit priest Hal Head heads up a group of former priests and nuns who made similar decisions to marry. "I'm very happy the Pope has decided to lead from the front in this issue," he said. "There are too many back door men among us," he concluded. Rank and file Catholics are uncertain how the Pope's resignation will affect local congregations, but many are certain the change was long overdue. Bill Phaser, chief of the Marmet, West Virginia Knights of Columbus group, told me, "Priests are real men, just like us. It's high time for all men to be real men, and altar boys to be terrified."

New Haven Firefighters Testifies on Judge Sotomayors Senate Hearing
merrie
by merrie  7-16-2009
Sotomayor has defended the Ricci decision, saying that she and her colleagues were bound by precedent. Kyl challenged that argument, saying, You will not acknowledge that even though the Supreme Court said theres no precedent you still insist, somehow, that there was precedent there that you were bound by? Sotomayor replied that the high court choose to adopt a different test in its review of the case. Continuing Kyls questioning, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina challenged Sotomayors intent. Mr. Ricci has a story to tell, too, and the court has gone, in the opinion of many of us, into the position of societal change, he said. Identity Politics The question of identity politics has dominated the hearings all week. Do you embrace identity politics personally? Graham asked Sotomayor Thursday. Personally, as a judge, I dont embrace it in any way with respect to judging, she replied.

Confronting the anglo white male dominance
kelsoweikal
by kelsoweikal  7-15-2009
Looks like Judge Sotomayor is going to pass through. She deserves it. But the whole process is shedding light, once again, on the inability of our national power structures to welcome perspectives that are not in the majority. The burden is always on the outsider to learn to navigate the dominant structure. I sure wish that would change.

The Dictatorship Regime Lead By Supreme Leader
merrie
by merrie  7-3-2009
By doing so, the regime lead by supreme leader Ali Khamenei, hoped to silence the last remaining (moderate) opposition leaders who themselves count as prominent figures of the Islamic regime, and complete his grand scheme of creating an Islamic state rather than a republic. However, this so called election 'coup' failed as the courageous people of Iran took to the streets to let the world know what is happening and make their cries for justice and basic rights be heard throughout the globe. Once again, a dictatorship has failed to tame the brave and free people of Iran. The Islamic regime has lost all credibility. This is the beginning of the end for this corrupt, backward and violent regime.

by ratilfar  6-19-2009
From the article: But Meese was known above all for his unbending belief that the conservative movement needed to change the culture of the Supreme Court. He famously declared in 1985 that judges should be "expected to resist any political effort to depart from the literal provisions of the Constitution." Later, he would suggest that it was within the power of the president to circumvent Supreme Court decisions. And we now know were that kind of thinking has lead us. Iraq War anyone?

Helping Mahmoud
merrie
by merrie  6-15-2009    2
How naive those words sound in retrospect. Presidential wishful thinking has crashed head-on into Islamofascist reality. Mousavi, of course, whose candidacy (unlike so many others) got the stamp of approval of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, is no moderate at all.he vowed during the campaign to continue Iran's nuclear program. Moreover, as Thomas C. Reed and Danny B. Stillman note in their newly published history of nuclear proliferation, "The Nuclear Express," "Pakistan's A.Q. Khan first began to transfer uranium enrichment technology to Iran in 1987" — in the midst of Mousavi's 1981-89 tenure in power. Any Obama-Mousavi version of the Camp David Accords would have preserved Iran's widely dispersed, tough-to-monitor nuclear program in some form, through which it can produce fuel for a bomb.

Obama Administration to Supremes: We are Above the Law ~ Supremes to Obama: Go Pound Sand
merrie
by merrie  6-9-2009    1
Fortunately, the high court ruled this afternoon that the administration is full of s*** and that indeed it does have the authority to delay the Chrsyler sale. Ahead of the decision, Chrysler LLC and the federal government warned such an intervention might lead to the liquidation of the automaker. But Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in a brief order, said the court will extend a temporary stay put in place by an appeals court "pending further order of the undersigned or of the court." The administration -- who always seems to be in a hurry, whether it's spending trillions of dollars on useless government pork, destroying the health care system, or simply nationalizing automakers -- argued that the delay would scuttle the deal. But dissenters were equally clear-cut on reasons to oppose the deal. The bankruptcy laws were written so that companies could dramatically overhaul themselves, becoming leaner and more efficient enterprises.

Frankfurt School Reigns Supreme at Notre Dame
merrie
by merrie  5-19-2009    6
Hours of conversation, study, and prayer with my peers in ministry taught me that we want the Catholic community to lead the work of creating a just society," says Claire Noonan. The Program Organizer for Social Justice and Next Generation at Call to Action in Chicago, she creates educational programs and sustained action campaigns focusing on sweatshop labor. Oh, brother, there's that word "Chicago" again. Now, in my mind "social justice" has always been a codeword for Marxism, or in this case, the ecclesiastical equivalent, "Liberation Theology." Of course many Jesuits have been unfortunately drawn into that false ministry. But where is any reference to Catholic, or even biblical teachings? The Jesuit School at Berkeley is a member of the Graduate Theological Union, which has many ties to the Frankfurt School. Jenkins also attended Oxford University, and Oxford has also been penetrated by the Frankfurt philosophy.

The problem that former Senator Coleman has is he lost fair and square," Elias said. "He lost because more people voted for Al Franken than voted for Norm Coleman. No amount of lawyering or sophisticated legal arguments is going to change that." Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, a Democrat, said he would welcome an appeal, saying he thinks the state's highest court could provide closure. The appeal must come within 10 days after the final order from the three-judge panel that presided over the seven-week trial.

Kentucky courthouse poster of Ten Commandments sickens the ACLU- they send a bill to the homeless and poor people in Kentucky for nearly $400,000. Meanwhile, ACLU is demanding new chefs for Gitmo, the qualified ones, not just the ones from France. Prisoners also need new prayer rugs, Tivos, access to their weapons, and iPhones to confer with their terrorist leaders.

Correspondingly, it invokes hostility towards those believed to have caused the pain and misery of others."

Will Geert Wilders Show His Film on the Koran?
merrie
by merrie  2-18-2009    1
That's about to change with the expected television premier on January 25 of an un-named film by a leading Dutch politician Geert Wilders dealing with the Koran. Wilders in the past has compared it to Hitler's Mein Kampf and wants it banned; the film will likely make arguments along these lines: "With this film I'm trying to show not only in words but also images exactly what I mean," he says. Unlike the British, American, Danish governments or the Vatican, the Dutch government has prepared. It has adopted a two-track policy of (1) trying to stop the screening and, should that fail, (2) getting ready for crisis mode. An article in today's Volkskrant, "Vrees voor rellen rond Koran-film van Wilders" (translated as "Fear of riots over Wilders' Koran film") provides some details. First, the government is trying to shut things down: FULL ARTICLE http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2007/12/will-geert-wilders-show-his-film-on-the-koran.html

Supreme court to hear Alaska man's DNA appeal

As for Osborne himself, he was paroled in 2007 after serving 14 years on the rape case. Six months later, he was arrested on new charges stemming from a home invasion robbery. In January, he agreed to a plea deal that calls for another 16 years in prison. He's 36 years old and has been incarcerated most of his adult life. He never expected his request for a DNA test to end up before the U.S. Supreme Court. He doesn't expect that it will make much difference for him. "I just hope it helps somebody, somewhere down the line, somehow," he said in a jailhouse interview.

The World Government Agenda Goes Public, Obama to Lead U.S. into EU Model
blueridge
by blueridge  12-8-2008    3
The "war on terror", global financial crisis, and global environmental agenda provide three perfect (and all grossly exaggerated and manufactured) pretexts as an excuse to justify it. Obama will lead the U.S. into World Government, and their craft has already started with his Managing Global Insecurity (MGI) team: Aware of the political sensitivity of its ideas, the MGI report opts for soothing language. It emphasises the need for American leadership and uses the term, “responsible sovereignty” – when calling for international co-operation – rather than the more radical-sounding phrase favoured in Europe, “shared sovereignty”. It also talks about “global governance” rather than world government. This IS the CFR dream agenda of which all the candidates were apart of through their membership. This is why Obama platformed for presidency overseas, in Berlin Germany in particular and in France near the Eiffel Tower (the hearth place of the global Masonic orders).

Good on them. However, several states cast votes that they'll eventually regret. In California, Prop. 8 wins . Marriage equality is dead in California -- the same is true of measures in Arizona and Florida. In Arkansas, gays are banned from adopting or becoming foster parents . That's a shame -- literally. These are attitudes we'll all look back at with shame.

Helps Raise Albuquerque's Fraudulent Vote Share To 30% Good thing the Supreme Court has just ruled that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner doesn't need to reconcile the 200,000 mismatched registrations that she had been hiding. Obama paid $800,000 in good money for ACORN's Ohio services and even went to the trouble of concealing it from the FEC. It would be a slap in the face not to allow those tireless fraudulent registration efforts to blossom into fraudulent votes, especially now that New Mexico has shown beyond a doubt that it can work. Weighing Parole For Killers
debbyski
by debbyski  7-14-2008    5
I guess we could argue that there should be no parole for killers, and that would be a black and white argument. I'm sure black and white feels pretty damn good to the victim's families. One thing I would like to say is I think some on CM feel as though clippers must agree 100 percent with the clip or we wouldn't clip the article. Not true, at least in my case and I welcome polite, concise, adult conversation on any clip. Opposing views are always welcome and can lead to meaningful dialog and in the spirit of that, I feel this clip asks the reader to dig deep on the concept of forgiveness in our society. Is that concept worth considering? The answer can be a very complex one with good arguments on both sides.
