POPS Code Red In Washington D.C. Today; “This bill must be stopped!”
Also: The Dems now expect the CBO scoring of the Reid plan that no one has seen to look good once the Medicare expansion is thrown under the bus. And: After all the sound and fury, Joe Lieberman is now reportedly on board with Demcare. Update: Heeeeere come’s MoveOn! Steamed at the Democrat majority over negotiating with Joe Lieberman, the nutroots will hold their own “emergency rally” today at 1pm Eastern today to lobby for nationalized health care. Wonder if unhinged Jane Hamsher will show up to burn Sen. Lieberman’s wife in effigy. Update 11:49am Eastern: Lieberman talking to press right now. Says Demcare plan is now “heading in the right direction.” GOP Sen. Susan Collins is standing by him, smiling, through his remarks. Ok, Susan Collins speaks. She can’t see voting for the bill in its current form. “It’s still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” She says she won’t support it even with amendments intended to improve the bill (that no one has seen, of course).

POPSfox dfends news clip croppings: calls them "selective fractivity" On May 1, O'Reilly Factor guest host Laura Ingraham played a portion of Al Gore's congressional testimony as a preface for Ingraham to deride Gore for what she deemed to be large profits he makes from his Global-warming efforts. The edited out portion included Gore's statements that in fact he donates-..........the rest of this is at the source I have decided to do some selective fractivity myself- and just plan on not watching Faux News ever.........how's that for selective

POPSPalin Says No Thanks to Some Stimulus Money I can't attest to every fund that's being offered the state in the stimulus package will be used to create jobs and stimulate the economy, so I'm requesting only those things that I know will. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MANDATED BY CONGRESS - IF the stimulus plan was designed to stimulate (which is was not) include the language and regulations to prevent abusive use of the funds. Kudos to Palin - an honest politican (I know - it makes you far left kooks puke - good!)

POPSLaura Ingraham: America is already less safe under Obama Today, as Steve Benen notes, Thiessen went even farther over the top at The Corner in proclaiming Barack Obama "the most dangerous man ever to occupy the Oval Office." Hysterical and silly doesn't begin to cover it. As Jason Zengerle adroitly observed, "You almost get the sense guys like Thiessen are hoping for an attack so that they can blame Obama when it happens." Indeed, claims like these actually invite domestic terrorist attacks, since they announce to terrorist organizations that Obama will be especially politically vulnerable to divisive right-wing attacks if they pull off another major event; Obama won't have Bush's right-wing Mulligan. This in turn will further motivate them to pull off such an event. It makes America a much more inviting target to strategic-oriented terrorists like Al Qaeda (which, since 9/11, has been largely content to focus on its own back yard).

POPSVideo: Why Hasn't Obama Fired Howard Gutman? "So you are judging her parenting skills," Ingraham said. "You're saying you don't think she's a good parent for doing this job." "I'm saying the proper criticism is not that it's a woman or man – it doesn't matter whether it's Todd or Sarah," Gutman said. Gutman explicitly goes to great lengths to avoid offending women voters. He is obviously more afraid of vanquished opponent Hillary and her PUMAs than his own boss, Barack Obama: Obama should have fired Howard Gutman immediately for his insubordination, instead he has a spokesman issue a typically flaccid warning: Obama spokesman Bill Burton, asked to respond to Gutman's remarks, said "Obviously these comments do not reflect our frequently stated views that families of the candidates should be off limits." Gutman directly challenged the leadership of Obama and gets away scott free with an emailed apology to a reporter Obama fails yet another mind-boggling simple test of his authority.

POPSTalk Radio Goes After McCain...........If McCain Wins, He Won’t Vote McCain>Back-room "electioneering"in W.Virginia? If McCain wins, he won’t vote Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 04:18 PM The Atlanta Journal-Constitution With presidential primaries rolling toward evening rush-hour, much of conservative talk radio — led by Rush Limbaugh — has convulsed at the thought of John McCain as the Republican nominee, and is pushing its listeners to Mitt Romney.

POPSIs Hillary a Feminist? - Cheney ask in 2000 Jealous much? I was more disturbed by the comments that followed, how amusing it is to see sexist bigots refer to Hillary as a bigot, etc. A little more on the "2nd Lady", in 2000 she was mentioned as a possible conservative female pick for Republican Vice Presidential nominee on the George W. Bush ticket. The appointed head of the nominating committee was her husband, Dick Cheney, then the CEO of Halliburton, Inc., who eventually emerged as Bush's choice. She repeatedly spoke out against violent and sexually explicit lyrics in popular music, picking up on an issue originally made famous by former Vice President Al Gore and his wife "Tipper". Nice to know she learned something from Tipper Gore.

POPSCheney Orders Media To Sell Attack On Iran
MORE; The issuance of orders for Neo-Con mass media arms to push for an assault on Iran also puts the U.S. on red alert for a terror attack, whether real or manufactured, which Dick Cheney has already promised will immediately be blamed on Iran no matter who the real culprits are. On August 1st, 2005 the American Conservative reported that Cheney had tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan involved a massive air strike on Iran which included the use of nuclear weapons. The publication reported that, "The response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States," meaning that any such attack will immediately be blamed on Iran and any evidence to the contrary will be buried. The London Times reported on Sunday that the Pentagon had finalized plans for a 3 day blitz designed t

POPSRepublicans Trot Out Same Tired Lies Predictably, the Republicans rehash their own brand of swill by lying to the faithful in Atlanta. Using the bludgeon of fear they resort to the same stale rhetoric that has worked for them in the past. The same rhetoric that the rest of the country is beginning to see as manipulative and hypocritical.

POPSLaura Ingraham Lies The snippet below is from her web site. Do you see any mention of bribes? I don't remember Brownie being accused or convicted of taking bribes. Lest you think it was just a mistake by her webmaster, Laura could be heard crowing the same half-truth on her syndicated radio show this morning.

POPS24: Torture Nation With the help of the hit TV show, 24 , torture has reached pop-culture (even punchline) status in America. Mayer helps show how Charles Krauthammer's near-non-existent "ticking clock" scenario has been popularized by "24" in such a way as to normalize torture in the public consciousness. In five seasons of "24", there have been sixty-seven torture scenes, and all of them are portrayed as effective, productive, and justified. Military cadets, weaned on '24", now tend to see nothing wrong with it. Soldiers in the field have internalized the show's ethics. One witness to this is Tony Lagouranis, a former army interrogator in Iraq. He tells Mayer that some soldiers in Iraq just replicated the "24" scenes in real life - even though torture is still nominally illegal under American law for the regular military (the Bush administration has created a special CIA torture unit to do the job instead).
