The Obama opiate: Crisis deepens, crowds cheer
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-3-2009
"The destabilization of Iran, a product of massive US covert operations (and overt political manipulation) continues unabated, built upon the pretext of “restoring democracy”—a “stolen election” hoax, and an aggressive “color revolution” spearheaded by Anglo-American surrogates, aspiring puppets, and hordes of intelligence assets and so-called “liberals” touting “democracy”. The Iranian corridor remains critical, for the control of Central Asian and Middle East energy, and the Anglo-American empire is intent upon controlling it. A blatant coup in Honduras has been carried out in the classic fashion, according to the same intelligence playbook that has been at the core of US-Latin America policy since the Iran-Contra era; the same destabilization tactics used in recent years to topple the governments of Venezuela and Haiti. Domestically, Obama has endorsed the continued surveillance of the American people, and an even more ironclad electronic police state. While the average Ameri

post-ideological political philosophy." . . . . . . . To glimpse at the warped worldview of our media elite, look no further than a news "analysis" by Steven Hurst of the Associated Press, who compared Obama favorably to ... Mikhail Gorbachev. Apparently, like Gorbachev, Obama presides over a corrupt and crumbling empire: "During his short -- by Soviet standards -- tenure, he scrambled incessantly to shed the ideological entanglements that were leading the communist empire toward ruin. But Obama is outpacing even Gorbachev." The leftist media look at Obama and see themselves. There are no "ideological entanglements." They're just out to make the world a better place, insisting that America needs to shrink itself into a smaller, quieter, less "judgmental" partner, and do so while the Western hemisphere goes off a left-wing cliff.

The Problem Is Empire
katsteevns
by katsteevns  9-3-2008
(cont.)I am campaigning for and voting for Barack Obama not because I agree with him on every foreign policy issue but because I think we need to unleash the energy of those who fight for justice and housing and healthcare and jobs and the environment here at home. The Obama movement is registering and mobilizing millions of new voters, young people, working class, people of color and poor. The mere fact of their being mobilized will create a pressure for new priorities on the economic home front against the present priorities of militarization abroad. The fact that Obama rose to his present position on the tide of antiwar sentiment forces Obama and the Congressional Democrats to pay greater attention to our needs at home or pay a political price. If he expands the quagmires in Afghanistan and Pakistan, we will have to oppose those wasteful wars as well.

Chávez budgets $250 million for ‘alternative’ groups
topsailangler
by topsailangler  11-24-2007
The draft was the first time that the government publicly included in the Foreign Ministry’s budget these types of spending plans for programs to promote Chávez’s ideology abroad. Chávez is ”making use of the enormous amount of money that comes from high oil prices to buy support from Latin American countries and promote anti-American initiatives,” said Peter Hakim, president of the Inter-American Dialogue, a Washington think tank… For Latin America, it includes plans to consolidate ALBA, Chávez’s response to the free-market treaties promoted by the United States, and a strategy to “neutralize the actions of the empire, strengthening the solidarity and the public opening of organized social movements.” In Central America and Mexico, the draft says the Venezuelan government expects to ‘’strengthen alternative movements” in “the search for an erosion from the imperial domination.”
