POPS'Entourage' in the Sky While the HBO/Virgin deal has some scratching their heads --an Entourage first-class ride complete with champagne and Entourage-branded eye masks is, after all, a bit over the top-- the licensing agreement has some obvious benefits for both parties. For HBO, in flight showings offer a captive audience. And for Virgin, its a way to differentiate itself from rivals and appeal to its core savvy, sophisticated demo.

POPSGreen technology creating 'green collar' jobs I stand strongly behind my belief that if this country committed ourselves to becoming energy independent with the same determination that we committed to putting a man on the moon, that we could do it and we could create millions of new jobs in the process. It would be an enormous driver of economic growth and strengthen our leverage in the Middle East because we would no longer be reliant on their oil.

POPSBloomberg's Wind-Power Talk "Can you put windmills off the coastline? That is highly likely." "I can seriously imagine offshore , but in terms of actually urban turbines in Manhattan, we are a ways off from that," said Valerie Strauss, spokeswoman for Albany-based Alliance for Clean Energy New York.

POPSDisabled Vets Shun McCain in Las Vegas Still obsessing over the privatization of the VA for some reason, John McCain is poised to lose the veterans' vote for good. In fact, in response to his Saturday speech to the DAV, Iraq War veteran and double-amputee Tammy Duckworth had this to say about McCain's proposals: "John McCain has said that improving veterans' health care would be his top domestic priority as President, yet he has repeatedly voted against increased funding for veterans health care. And now he offers up an plastic card option that will lead to privatization of veterans health care. No one knows how to help and heal veterans like veterans -- had I ended up in a regular hospital after returning from Iraq, I would lost my arm. McCain's plan will only hurt the VA and our veterans more than they are already hurting."

POPSIf You Use an Electronic Toll Pay System, READ THIS Great article about the use of EZPass, FastTrak, or any other system you use to electronically pay road/bridge tolls when you go through the toll both. Apparently they can easily be hacked and your account compromised. Best bet they say is to keep it in the Mylar pouch it comes in, but most people I've seen have it stuck to their windshield permanently. If that's you, apparently there's also a device you can buy that deactivates it and prevents access to information until you flip the switch. Read the article for more details.

POPSObama In Knots Over Cheney ----a vote that could be viewed as endearing if he hadn't more recently flipped on it as well. And as the Hot Air link provided by the inestimable Jim Geraghty at Campaign Spot notes, Obama explained in a Las Vegas TV interview this week that his vote on that bill was motivated by the fact that "this was the largest investment in alternative energy in history." So which is it Senator? Is Obama's complaint about the NEPDG merely grousing about process (a process complaint that led to wasteful federal litigation in which the Vice President ultimately prevailed)? Or is Obama-wan Kenobi playing gutter political games, trying to tar McCain with guilt by association with Cheney? (An association that isn't particularly supported by the record and with which, by the way, I would be more than happy to be "tarred.") Either way, it doesn't jibe with his "the One" narrative.
