Hacker Infects School Video Systems with Socialism Virus
foxyarse
by foxyarse  9-15-2009
"They're trying to force our kids to stay in school so they won't be able to go to work. Who's going to get the jobs at McDonald's if our kids are forced to stay in school? I'll tell you-Mexicans, that's who." A Fox Fruitcake monitor said schoolchildren were particularly vulnerable to the virus. "They're very impressionable," the monitor said. "If they're exposed to radical socialist ideas that brainwash them, they may come to believe that slacking off isn't the way to succeed. The results would be catastrophic." Other parents feared the virus would have even more severe long-term consequences. "It's insidious," said Watt A. Nutt of Memphis. "Once it's in the schools' video systems, it can take over the whole curriculum and start indoctrinating our kids in hard-core Communist ideas, like the world isn't flat, and 2 + 2 isn't 5."

Workplace Safety for Kids
darkeforce
by darkeforce  8-30-2009
The common knowledge is that kids have to learn for themselves to not get hurt, but that doesn't need to be the case. Wouldn't parents rather that their little ones learn to be aware of potential accidents without suffering pain and/or needing a trip to the emergency room? Larry Wilson thinks they should.

Christian nutballs aim to change history for Texas schoolchildren
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  7-25-2009    4
Aside from the obvious violation of the First Amendment, where the separation of church and state is established, Texas needs to be reminded that our public education system is established to teach our children the truth, not hearsay. It is unconscionable for our public school system to be used to rewrite history. There is no historical evidence that our founding fathers ever intended the US to be a Christian Nation. Texas, if you can get your kids into church you can teach whatever religion you think is appropriate, but keep it out of our schools, because believe it or not, not everyone holds your ideas of what this country was founded on. Any school board that gives credence to the likes of the so-called ‘expert’ Reverend Peter Marshall who preaches that Hurricane Katrina and defeat in the Vietnam war were God’s punishment for sexual promiscuity and tolerance of homosexuals has got to be so far in the dark ages that they don’t want to be taken seriously and is lost to all re

"House Subcommittee Cuts Funds for Abstinence Education"
kris_tea
by kris_tea  7-14-2009
"For more information & to contact your lawmakers, visit the National Abstinence Educations Associations Web site (http://www.abstinenceassociation.org/advocacy/action_alerts/aa_070109_two_significant_action_alerts.html)." The only method proven 100% to protect against pregnancy & STDs & they want to do away with it. Such is the logic of our politicians these days. Lack of morals & self-control run rampant in DC & in today's youth. Heck, sexually speaking, our society's morals & self-control has been increasingly declining since the 60's.

Kids need reading, 'riting, 'rithmetic – and RECESS!
Lexica
by Lexica  5-22-2009    3
“We should understand that kids need that break because the brain needs that break.” And many children are not getting that break. In the Pediatrics study, 30 percent were found to have little or no daily recess. Another report, from a children’s advocacy group, found that 40 percent of schools surveyed had cut back at least one daily recess period. Also, teachers often punish children by taking away recess privileges. That strikes Dr. Barros as illogical. “Recess should be part of the curriculum,” she said. “You don’t punish a kid by having them miss math class, so kids shouldn’t be punished by not getting recess.”

Permanent Youth Indoctrination....................?
davboz
by davboz   4-6-2009
Remember youth likes to rebel. A couple generations later kids will see this as the rigid status quo that it is and resist, responding to the nature of their human spirit which calls for freedom to formulate their OWN GODDAMN VIEWS OF THE WORLD! If all seems lost in our lifetimes, we can at least hold out hope for the distant future and the instincts which gave birth to America in the beginning. Which ~ as those with eyes still to see are able to ~ is what is being repressed and demonized by the current powers.

Twitter and Social Media to be Taught in Schools
onlinedesign
by onlinedesign  3-25-2009    2
If kids need to learn about history, they can just Google it! All kidding aside, really the debate going in UK schools is that kids will not learn to appreciate the Art of Reading for what it is... One of the comments made an excellent point: Why teach Twitter & SM to kids when they already know how to work the Internet better than we do! Well, if they alter the curriculum, it will be the biggest change the school system has seen in over a decade. I say Twit lil Tweeters!

Schools cultivate green living
jatfla

This really made me angry. "Educators" are already doing this. My 9 yr. old G-son looked at me like I was an ax-murderer when I told him we did not recycle. This is pure propaganda aimed at our children to indoctrinate them into the current environmental cult. As a Christian, I believe we have a mandate to care for our portion of this Earth and do it wisely. But this kind of "education" infuriates me. I just read an article in our local paper where our Jr. College chose not to include this in their curriculum....probably because of finances or perhaps, common sense. Schools are a place of learning reading, writing and arithmetic (simplistic, I know), not indoctrinating our children.

Start-Up Teaches Math to Americans, Indian-Style
Nerfzilla
by Nerfzilla  11-4-2008
“If you don’t get mathematics to the highest level you possibly can in high school, your career options shrink dramatically in the 21st century,” Mr. Compton said. “Our society basically tells girls they’re not good at math. I was determined that was not going to happen to my daughters.” Mr. Compton and Indian Math Online’s co-founder, Suresh Murthy, hired a team of math teachers and software developers in India to build the site and its curriculum. At first, the site was meant for their daughters, but soon friends started asking if they could use it and word gradually spread. It has lessons for students in grades one through 12 and offers several packages for $12.50 to $20 a month. Two-thirds of the students using it are children of Indian and Chinese immigrants. Mr. Murthy’s children are an example. “He grew up in India, and he worried about his daughters falling behind in the global competition to be educated for the 21st century,” Mr. Compton said. The site’s curriculum is

Sex Ed Teacher Answers Student Questions on Masturbation, Parents Seek Criminal Charges
digitalsistere
by digitalsistere  5-31-2008    155
This type of fear based mentality on the side of parents and school administrators is a large part of the reason teens struggle with sexual issues. Parents don't want to talk about it...prosecute teachers who try to answer the students questions...and yet we ask "Oh my! What has happened to our youth? Where have we gone wrong?" These parents need to be sued for utter stupidity. Don't attack a Sex-Ed teacher for trying to answer legitimate questions! If they want to control the minds of their children...HOME SCHOOL them in a church basement somewhere and mind the shackles please, they tend to come loose with time and age.

Chuck Norris on hit list

Check out what Mr. Norris is doing for kids. "It is what I have been doing for more than a decade with my "KickStart" program, which began in Houston, Texas, teaching 150 at-risk children martial arts as part of the PE curriculum. Since that time, our program, which instills discipline and respect and raises self-esteem, has grown to serve more than 6,000 youngsters year round at 37 schools in Dallas and Houston, Texas. To date, KickStart has graduated more than 50,000 students with many going on to college and becoming successful in their own right."
