POPSPotential Anchor Team Ladies and Gentlemen...the next Todd and Trish survey their news kingdom. No, but seriously--if Keith Olbermann can do it...

POPSThe MSM goes off the deep end Even Jonathan Alter of Newsweek, whom I’d normally consider in another galaxy on the responsibility scale compared to Olbermann (it’s relative), said that, perhaps, the Ayers talk from the McCain campaign is putting lives in danger. Olbermann asked why Palin doesn’t just “cut out the middle man” and call him a terrorist. In fact, Sarah Palin does not think Barack Obama is a terrorist: She worries he doesn’t appreciate the greatness that is America, or he’d have better friends. By late in the evening Olbermann had left no candidate’s mortality alone, saying that during the debate, McCain “did not look like a well man.” MSNBC is not a well network. But don’t infect the rest of us, or give crazy people any ideas or encouragement.

POPSThe Saddest Sad Songs Of All Time! I picked a few of my favourites. See the list and lyrics at the site. I couldn't get through life without music as a backdrop. Where would we be without it? If you need a rest from politics, just copy/paste a title and go youtubing . Even sad songs can make you happy. I heard this song when I was a little girl and my Dad told me it was about a dog (that probably drowned) and I bawled my eyes out! I still do! :D   Anyway, remember. Jumping off cliffs not allowed! . ;) Clip Song (Not sad, even!)

POPSObama Campaign Ignoring NBC Cease-and-Desist UPDATE NBC blasts clip as 'outrageous' and demands Obama camp cease running it altogether "We have engaged the Obama campaign on the legal front and demanded that they stop using the ad," Gollust says. "To date they have not complied. Their response was to put a tagline at the end of the ad. However, that is not good enough, and we continue to demand they cease and desist using this outrageous ad." The tagline reads "NBC and MSNBC did not cooperate in the making of this video" and flashes for three seconds at the end of the ad. The spot has been seen more than 566,000 times, and features the image of Tom Brokaw and voice of Keith Olbermann announcing a mock victory for Sen. John McCain. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/nbc/obama_campaign_ignoring_nbc_ceaseanddesist_96105.asp?c=rss

POPS911tm - Republicans believe 9-11 is their trademark.
At THEIR OWN CONVENTION, they used it AGAIN as a prop to bolster their standing amongst the American voters. A PROP OF FEAR! This party of disservice has no shame and they will go on and on lying, misconstruing and whatever it takes to keep power. They care not for this land that so many have died for. They live, breath and sustain only with one objective, to stay on the course of power whether or not they destroy the very thing they wish to control. It's time for all who THINK, who truly want the best for our country because we know it will belong to so many who will come long after us, to say ENOUGH! If this actually does not happen this election time around we may be a country so weakened by the avaricious blunders of the right-wing, we will become easy pickings for the power brutes of the world. Our epitaph will read... HERE LIES A ONCE POWERFUL, PROUD COUNTRY, BROUGHT DOWN BY THE UNSCRUPULOUS, WHO LIVED UPON ITS VERY SOIL, WHILE TURNING IT TO STONE. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSOil Drillers and MMS Chicks "During the Bush years, the agency has faced harsh criticism for failing to vigorously pursue millions of dollars in outstanding or potential royalties. One controversial program, called royalty-in-kind, allows energy companies to pay the government in gas and oil, instead of dollars. According to the inspector general's report, the royalty-in-kind office of the MMS was rife with ''substance abuse and promiscuity.'' Certain fun-loving employees were known as the ''MMS Chicks'' by energy firm employees, who would generously invite the women to lively social events. Oil and gas companies named in the reports are Chevron, Hess, Shell Pipeline and Gary-Williams Energy. They paid for MMS workers to attend PGA golf tournaments, Major League Baseball and football games, ski trips, a Toby Keith concert, paintball-shooting events and ''treasure hunts,'' whatever that means."

POPSGiants and Jets Fans Join Uproar Over Stadium's Nazi Ties The company insured the Auschwitz death camp and had a chief executive serving in Hitler's cabinet. The company is on the short list of those vying to slap their name on the Meadowlands stadium in New Jersey via a lucrative sponsorship deal. The "NMSC has undertaken a rigorous due diligence effort," said spokeswoman Alice McGillion. "NMSC management and the teams' owners became sensitive to Allianz's history." After weeks of vetting the company, ownership is convinced that Allianz has done enough to correct its past, said a source close to the negotiations. Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum, secretary general of the North American Board of Rabbis, agreed that although survivors' sensibilities are understandable, a naming deal is legit. "I have found Allianz to be receptive, to be sensitive and a friend of the Jewish people today," he said. "We need not live in the past."

POPS7 ways to cope during this campaign season Before we take part in one of the most important elections of our life time, it is time to take a breath, to reflect, to take stock and BREATHE in some fresh air of positivity. STOP watching MSNBC, and FOX and STOP visiting Clipmarks (just kidding) and think about these 7 things... well, some of them don't apply specifically, but when I clipped this, it DID take away some of the anxiety I felt after watching Pat Buchannan and Keith Oberman

POPSMSNBC Is Buzz Flashes "Media Putz of the Week" I have always preferred MSNBC for cable news coverage, as they seemed to be the least influenced by right-wing threats. Unlike Fox, who claims to be "Fair and Balanced" when in fact they are Republican shills, MSNBC was far more able to claim that mantle. However, it appears that MSNBC is getting nervous because the two hosts they have who are more left than right, have been garnering complaints from the Republican Committee and the McCain campaign. Compared with remarks that O'Reilly or Hannity make on a regular basis, Olbermann et al, are quite mild. And then again, Olbermann has been, up til this week, the only truly lefty commentator, while FOX is ALL Conservative ALL the Time. But MSNBC has demoted Olbermann as well as Chris Matthews because the RNC did not like the fact that they questioned Sarah Palins qualifications for office. My God, is there nowhere fair minded people can turn any longer?

POPSOllie North And That Afghan Airstrike As my colleague Anderson wrote at Newshoggers: It is entirely unclear just what North did to “corroborate” US military claims of Taliban deaths, but his efforts to bolster the military stance appear about to go down in the same flames that killed 90 Afghan civilians. While doubtful, perhaps the US military should rethink their reliance on the fantastical stories of a known bullshit artist and pathological liar, someone who by all rights ought to be in prison. I wonder if we’ll see North answer questions about what he said and why he said it on FOX? Somehow, I doubt it. Keith Olbermann covered the airstrike massacre during his Bushed! segment, its disastrous diplomatic aftermath and North’s involvement on Monday: “Realising that a) he’s not a journalist b) he’s not independent and c) his eye-witnessing includes seeing things that aren’t really there, the US military has now reversed its stance…”

POPSMSNBC Removes Matthews And Olbermann From Anchor Seat So this new move is supposed to offer Olbermann and Matthews more freedom of expression. Olbermann’s strong left views and his harsh exchanges of words with other MSNBC hosts have been in the headlines all summer. He had no sympathy when GOP expressed anger at Internet news about Sarah Palin’s personal life. He also sarcastically dismissed Republican pundit Pat Buchanan on the air, after Buchanan said he thought the GOP had been enlivened by Sarah Palin’s vice presidential nomination. Moreover, he also couldn’t help mocking his own colleagues. As Joe Scarborough was discussing the positive developments in McCain’s campaign, Olbermann could be heard in the background, saying: “Jesus, Joe, why don't you get a shovel?” Representatives of New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and, more recently, Republican presidential nominee John McCain, have objected to NBC executives about the two commentators.

POPSFerraro, Quayle, Palin Roll Call story points out that the controversy around two VP picks, Dan Quayle in 1988 and Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, had little electoral impact those years. As in the stock market, though, past political performance is no guarantee of future results.
