POPSPoll: Americans want KSM tried in military court I can't believe that it's not 10-for-10 for the death penalty if found guilty. And yes, most Americans believe these guy will get a fair trial. But how much is this going to cost the taxpayers by having it in a civilian court as opposed to a military one? Are there going to be TV cameras? Every Arab television in the world is going to be tuned in to this circus. And finally, why doesn't the majority opinion rule anymore? and I'm talking about incidences such as this. Obama & Holder had to have made this decision on their own.

POPSAfghan insurgents pushed into base.... The press is having a holiday with this. This sort of thing happened a lot in Vietnam. What the press isn't saying is that likely HUNDREDS of enemy were killed trying to take over this base. This incident tells me: 1. What idiot chose such an indefensible location for a fire base??? 2. Thank you American press for telegraphing to the enemy our intent at withdrawing from the base, thereby emboldening the enemy and creating this opportunity to kill our soldiers. 3. Expect to see more of this as we withdraw having insuffient force to protect our troops - thank you Obama for helping spill our troops' blood due to your indecision. 4. Finally, recall all the times George Bush flew into Baghdad to visit our troops and generals. When will the coward Obama pay a visit to Afghanistan ??

POPSThe Bizarre Saga of the Arctic Sea, Not Another Climate Post One is tempted to chalk this ex post facto claim that the ship had not been lost to Russian ego, which over the years has moved Moscow to claim that intelligence and competence were behind no end of stupid and incompetent things. But then why this?: The saga also took a bizarre new twist when the ministry disclosed that the ship’s captain had tried to pass off the Arctic Sea as a North Korean vessel when it was intercepted by the Russian Navy. This is the first time that investigators have implicated the crew in the mystery. FP Passport's Joshua Keating asks the right question: "Who gets caught and then claims to be from North Korea???"

POPS7 in 10 Americans Back Diplomatic Relations with Cuba One of the most idiotic, decades long US foreign policy has been the Cuba embargo and not having an official diplomatic relationship with Cuba. It has done nothing to change the political situation in Cuba. It has torn families asunder (those who reside in Cuba and those who reside in the USA). And it is simply unneighborly. Cuba is a mere ninety miles from the USA. Yet we keep this policy in place just to assuage a few influential Cuban ex-patriots who reside mostly in South Florida.

POPSSeafood Dinner In The Age of Obama Federal Reserve's move to print money shows perilous policy failure Michael Stutchbury, Economics editor THE AUSTRALIAN IT'S an ominous day when the world's economic superpower starts printing money to buy its own government's debt. "Who's going to buy the bonds?" Paul Keating asked two weeks ago. Who would finance a US budget deficit forecast to swell to $US1.7 trillion ($2.5trillion) thisyear? Now US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke has revealed part of the answer: the central bank itself will buy $US300 billion of US Treasury bonds and pay for them by electronically printing the money. The extraordinary move immediately pushed down long-term US interest rates, which set the benchmark for mortgage rates in the nation. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/business/story/0,28124,25212624-643,00.html

POPSBush popularity rating purportedly lowest in history History will be kind to President Bush. Like Winnie Churchill who was discarded by the ungrateful Brits immediately after WWII, Americans have forgotten how Bush prevented any terrorist attacks on the homeland for 7 years. Americans will miss his strong leadership once the attacks resume under the obamanation

POPSPoll says race won't be big factor in USA vote
7 out of 10 doesn't sound that good but the pollster points out this goes both ways. I think McCain's age is has the greatest prejudice; old people say this as well. This also points out another problem: Media Driven Issues. The media has just been making up one issue after another than is not an issue to nobody else but them: media fabricated issues...and often just to raise hackles or excitement and thus have more people tune in. With race, it's been called: The Bradley Effect. (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_effect ) It basically means white folks will hide their racial prejudice when polled, thus polls will be off. But that was 26 years ago. Times have changed. There is NO Bradley Effect anymore (well...if so, certainly much much less) This is shown -- documented by elections of other Afro-American candidates in the 21st century, like in a race for governor in 2006; polls were fine. POPSMcCain's Better Half, Number Two
Cindy McCain, played a role in the Keating Five S&L scandal, and just as her husband was rehabilitating his reputation, she was caught stealing drugs from her nonprofit organization to feed her addiction to painkillers. She has a fortune that sets the McCain's apart from most other Americans, a problem in a presidential race that hinges on economic anxieties. She can be imprecise: she has repeatedly called herself an only child, for instance, even though she has two half-siblings. Those close to her say she aspires to be like another blonde, glamorous figure married to an older man: "Diana, the Princess of Wales" . Carol McCain, (1st Mrs) worked in the Reagan White House as an event planner. She had stood by her husband during his captivity in N. Vietnam, never passing word of her debilitating car accident, (more about her... http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/carol.asp ) a few years after their reunion, McCain told her, he was leaving her for a younger, richer woman.
