POPSBeware kids, while you’re singing his praises, Obama wants to get rid of Summer vacation While I think that it is a good idea to talk about modifying the 180-day, September-June school calendar that has become as much an American tradition as fireworks on the 4th of July, I don’t quite see the need for this to become a national issue, or for the Federal Government to mandate that schools modify their calendars based on a decision made by a bureaucrat in the Department of Education. As with most things in the education field, this is a matter best left to school boards at the local and state level and to the parents of the children being educated. But then again, what the hell does Obama care about American tradition....unless he's apologizing for it....

The Iranians burn American Flags, Chant ‘Death to America’ in the streets and kill our soldiers in Iraq all because they are pissed . . . . . . During that meeting in The Hague, U.S. delegates passed an informal note to Iranian officials seeking information about three Americans then missing or detained in Iran. Last month, Iran released one of the Americans, Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi, who was tried and convicted of spying for the United States. Obama and other U.S. officials have said they do not expect to see much movement from Iran until after the country holds presidential elections in the middle of the month, but have sketched a rough deadline of the fall by which they hope to see positive responses to their overtures.

POPSObama invites Iran to July 4th picnics I think this is an excellent idea. This is part of what diplomats are supposed to do, throw parties and make polite gestures. We've had eight years of bush /Cheney siccing "diplomats" like John Bolton on the world. The whole idea of diplomacy is so that we don't have to use the army. POPSObama's Hillbilly Half-Brother Threatening To Derail Campaig Since Cooter's emergence on the national scene, the Obama campaign has downplayed the brothers' relationship. A statement issued last week by Obama's top adviser, David Axelrod, claimed that the two lived together only for a brief period in 1981, shortly before Barack left to attend Columbia University and Cooter had to drop out of chicken-killing school because an air conditioner fell on his head. "I thought we would be able to escape controversy by leaving the country for a week and visiting Iraq and Europe," an unnamed source in the Obama camp told reporters. "Little did we know that Cooter would command just as much attention back home by getting drunk with the Russian ambassador, lighting off fireworks, and crashing Obama's campaign limo into a creek in the Ozark Mountains."
