POPSCIA Removed from Interrogation functions I think this is what this clip indicated. Prior to this, right away, the new President Obama said No More Torture, and some other positive things to reverse Bush era abuses (restoring proper judicial requirements for wiretaps, etc.) But now, instead of saying the CIA, the military and others must abide by proper standards and USA law...it more dramatically removes the CIA from this role of interrogations. Another good step in restoring our laws and principles.

POPSPapua New Guinea - police brutality & sorcery killings There has been an increase in reports of sorcery-related killings over the last year. "It's clear that the government is not doing enough to protect its own citizens and maintain the rule of law," said Apolosi Bose, Amnesty International's Pacific Islands researcher. "The police and judicial authorities have to step in immediately before another person faces this kind of vigilante violence." Amnesty International pointed out that the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) is often unable to enforce the law; "People often don't trust the police or the judiciary and instead blame events on supernatural causes and punish suspected sorcerers," Bose said. "Relevant authorities should step up efforts to curb vigilante violence and raise awareness in communities about ways in which people can legitimately seek justice.

POPSIntelligence Investigations Should Target Top Deciders I understand the urge to appear to be going on partisan witch hunts, but if those in the previous administration who willingly violated our constitution repeatedly are not brought to justice, it will happen again. And again, and again, and again...

POPS"Court Declares Part of the Patriot Act 'Unconstitutional'" continues: Because of the ruling, the government will now be forced to justify individual gag orders before a court, instead of casually wielding the power of a blanket gag as the Bush administration has done since the blindingly fast passage of the Patriot Act in Oct. 2001.
