POPSN.Korea still wants recognition as nuclear state Let's see! They probably have at least one working smoke detector. And it works because of a very small amount of radioactive material. We can give them the nuclear club status based on this possession of radioactive material. Not for anything else!

POPSAll Politicians Are Alike With just one speech tomorrow night you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics. You will teach them what they've always heard is true -- that all politicians are alike. I simply can't believe you're about to do what they say you are going to do. Please say it isn't so.

POPSLet gays serve openly... NOW. In an attempt to allow homosexual service members to serve quietly, a law was created that forces a compromise in integrity, conflicts with the American creed of ‘equality for all,’ places commanders in difficult moral dilemmas, and is ultimately more damaging to the unit cohesion its stated purpose is to preserve.

POPSObama to Meet High-Powered Aides for Afghan Review
were the top ranking civilian officials expected for a bracing session on a war some supporters fear could swamp Obama's presidency. War commander General Stanley McChrystal, who warned in a leaked report that the conflict could be lost within a year without more troops, was also due to to take part, either in person or by video link-up, the White House said. Other top military brass included were General David Petraeus who heads US central command, Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of National Intelligence Admiral Dennis Blair. CIA chief Leon Panetta was also due to take part, along with Richard Holbrooke, the US envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as the US ambassadors to Islamabad and Kabul. Obama warned after meeting NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Tuesday that the United States could not fight the battle in Afghanistan alone, in remarks apparently aimed at European partners.

POPSZbigniew Brzezinski To Obama: Shot Down Israeli Planes If They Attack Iran
In an interview with the Daily Beast, Brzezinski was quoted as saying, "They have to fly over our air space in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?" Currently a professor of American foreign policy at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Maryland, the former White House official added, "We have to be serious about denying them that right. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back, or not." Lt.-Gen. Ashkenazi maintained, however, that Israel will do whatever is necessary to defend itself when the time comes. "Israel has the right to defend itself, and all options are open," said the IDF Chief of Staff. "The IDF's working premise is that we have to be prepared for that possibility, and that is exactly what we are doing." With regard to the cooperation between the IDF and the U.S. Armed Forces that would be essential should military intervention become necessary,

POPSConservative Op-ed: "Time to Get Out of Afghanistan", Propaganda War Starts Note there is a neoconservative (William Kristol) reply to this op-ed below the article at source (because it scares them, really), which also proves that Obama has continued the neoconservative agenda in this "war on terrorism", whether that term is used or not. (Miraculously again, Bin Laden allegedly made a new video or post, which the MSM and Drudge also made sure you saw, while they did not link to this Op-ed of a well known conservative columnist). Conservative policy writers at Cato Institute are also calling for an end by exposing Myths about Afghanistan (here) . Myth #1: Both al Qaeda and the Taliban Are Our Mortal Enemies You can use Will's Op-ed to take action with your Congressmen (especially if republican) at Just Foreign Policy (here).

POPSMuslims Watch Our Feet, Not Our Lips Muslims are no different than any of us - they have been lied to enough to kknow that it is people's actions that count; not what they say. The General hits ot right when he says that each time we diverge from our central American values - we get in trouble with everyone, not just muslims.

POPSThe Women's Crusade In the 19th century, the paramount moral challenge was slavery. In the 20th century, it was totalitarianism. In this century, it is the brutality inflicted on so many women and girls around the globe: sex trafficking, acid attacks, bride burnings and mass rape. Yet if the injustices that women in poor countries suffer are of paramount importance, in an economic and geopolitical sense the opportunity they represent is even greater. “Women hold up half the sky,” in the words of a Chinese saying, yet that’s mostly an aspiration: in a large slice of the world, girls are uneducated and women marginalized, and it’s not an accident that those same countries are disproportionately mired in poverty and riven by fundamentalism and chaos. There’s a growing recognition among everyone from the World Bank to the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff to aid organizations like CARE that focusing on women and girls is the most effective way to fight global poverty and extremism.

POPSObama Betrays Freedom Again " Take this hypothetical: imagine that Barack Obama announced that he was going to hold a referendum on legalizing a third term for himself. Imagine that even his attorney general, Eric Holder, advised him that it was illegal. Imagine that the Supreme Court ruled that holding the referendum was unconstitutional. In spite of that, let's imagine that Obama coerced the FEC into holding the referendum anyway. Then - let's further imagine -- we found out that Venezuelan strongman Chávez (who has pulled off a similar power grab in his own country) was financing the referendum. What should the Joint Chiefs do in such a case? And if they removed Obama from office, would they be destroying the Constitution or preserving it? "

POPSWhite House Not Moving on DADT “Sometimes the legislative process doesn’t move that quickly,” Gibbs responded.” What I love about that line is the perfect illustration of Obama’s priorities. He can pass a Porkulus bill in 3 days - and in VIOLATION of his own campaign promises about public transparency and accountability - because Pork is a priority for him. Destroying capitalism is a priority. Helping gay men and women? Not so much. Fix your own problem Dems. Save the blame game for another day.

POPS Obama Considers Detaining Terror Suspects Indefinitely Defense Secretary Robert Gates, at a hearing last month, hinted at the administration's deliberations, saying that there were "50 to 100 probably in that ballpark who we cannot release and cannot trust, either in Article 3 courts or military commissions." Mr. Gates and the commanders worried that the pictures would spur new anti-American violence in Iraq and Afghanistan. The administration's move to block the release of military detainee photos was welcomed by Republicans in Congress and by some military family groups but condemned by the ACLU and others.

POPSPeople Are More Comfortable With Ignorance "Polls now show that the majority of Americans support openly gay service — a majority did not in 1993 — but there have been no recent broad surveys of the current 1.4 million active-duty service members. A 2008 census by The Military Times of predominantly Republican and largely older subscribers found that 58 percent were opposed to efforts to repeal the policy; in 2006, a poll by Zogby International of 545 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans found that three-quarters were comfortable around gay service members. Mr. Gates, for one, has expressed skepticism about how accurately polls reflect true opinion on the policy. “To get people’s real feelings about it, you have to have almost a one-on-one private conversation,” he told reporters last week. “I think it’s very difficult for people to speak in front of their peers on this issue. The germane question, he said, was, “Can you work with people who are different from you?”

POPSPakistan follows US orders, now they will be paid In reality the situation is much more complex. The border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is taken somewhat lightly by long time natives to the region. Both sides of the border is dominated demographically by the Pashtun people. The border which was instated by the British Empire split this population in half between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and today the Pashtun people have no homeland.

POPSU.S. military pushed back against torture regime Then-Captain and now-Rear Admiral Jane Dalton told the (Senate Armed Services) committee that her staff discussed the military's concerns with DoD General Counsel Jim Haynes, one of the architects of the program, and that he was aware of the military's objections. Haynes, meanwhile, testified that he didn't know that the military was opposed and had written memos to that effect. He later qualified that denial to say he wasn't "sure" that he hadn't been made aware. His deputy, Eliana Davidson, also told him his torture project "needed further assessment," but Haynes, again, said he didn't recall Davidson telling him that. (Joint Chiefs of Staff) Chairman Richard Myers met with Haynes, Dalton told the committee, and returned to tell her to kill her review on Haynes' order. It was the only time Dalton had ever been told to cut short a review, she told the committee.

POPSAdmiral says war veterans will suffer for years The government better ante up on this and insure they take care of our Vets. This prediction from the Adm is nothing different from what our Vets faced in Vietnam. In both cases there was no reason to send our troops into harms way and it sounds like again our government is not going to help those who were sent there to fight. This is another example of the absurdity of how those in top power of the government use our military and just toss aside those who have erved their country. We all need to help these folks returning home.

POPSCheney's JSOC: Secret "Executive Assassination Ring" This is hot news! Talk about a "rogue government" that executes leaders (i.e. terrorism, to change political governments) at will! Here is the meat from Hersh's credible mouth: "Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths. "Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. If THIS does not make the MSM news (outside NY TImes with Hersh), we know Big Media is part of the elite propaganda over the American people. Note Hersh said "I have not WRITTEN about this yet"--or the NY Times would not PUBLISH it maybe! Now the Cat is out of the proverbial bag.
