POPSEnd Times A-Coming? A recurring argument lodged by theists against atheists is their inabilitiy to understand how non-believers can exist in a world of no god-given purpose. Theists seem incapable of comprehending the simple (to me at least) idea that each of us fashions our own purpose and meaning in life. This article touches on that aspect of thought.

POPSUS Religion and Homosexuality: The Pew Survey Great news that a slim majority believe that someone's sexual inclinations are none of their business. But almost as much people who oppose abortion oppose homosexuality, which means that homosexuals are more likely to get wider acceptance as fetuses in the US than as adult human beings.

POPSMother dies after refusing blood She was only 22 years of age. Her surviving husband now has to live with that decision too (and two motherless children). The article is not clear that she would have lived if she received it, according to her family... not according to the doctor. At least it was her own decision and consequences, and not a decision to deny children of needed medical treatment. It's still sad.

POPSPaganism revival in Greece ... the one-hour ceremony has achieved the near-impossible task of unnerving Greece's powerful Orthodox church. Since Peppa's performance 10 days ago, hierarchs have redirected the venom they usually reserve for homosexuals, Catholics, Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, masons and the "barbaric" Turks at the "miserable resuscitators" of the degenerate dead religion. In fire-and-brimstone sermons priests have slammed the "satanic" New Ageists and fulminated against their idols.

POPSRwanda's Resurrection of Faith 2004 article in the Christian Science Monitor about how Rwandans are turning away from Catholicism and traditional Protestantism due to the local churches' complicity in the genocide and embracing Islam and less established Christian denominations.
