POPSPalin, aside from being a woman... Obviously a lot has been said about the fact that McCain picked a woman as his VP. That is no doubt an interesting fact that can be interpreted in a few different ways. But putting that aside, i think the facts that matter most are those in this clip. These come from a comment by debbyski and i think they represent the reasons people will or won't support her. I would certainly be shocked if anyone who voted for Hillary would support Palin based on these specific differences in beliefs and policies.

POPSObama and The Secret Society It's interesting to read some of what other people are finding out themselves when considering Obama...many come to realizations about the possibilities if he will be voted in as our next President.

POPSLou Dobbs: Media 'in the tank supporting the Obma candidacy" HANK SHEINKOPF, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST: Good for democrats, not so good for the nation in the long term. Barack Obama is interesting, he's new, therefore he is news. OK. The fact that a black man can reach that pinnacle of success, raise the amount of money, run this kind of organization, beat Hillary Clinton is big news. At some point there has to be some fairness in the discussion. The problem here from the beginning is from day Obama showed up, I was wondering when the reporters will start chiseling his face on to Mt. Rushmore and the guy hadn't even won the nomination yet. That's the danger here, Lou. And people know it and they're not stupid. Average guy says wait a second, I want news and he isn't getting it.

POPSThe Extreme-Right Way To Make A Buck "Actually, it's a little darker than that. Corsi doesn't just belong to the right's conspiratorial wing, he belongs to its racist, white-supremacist fringe. Over the last couple of years, he's written disparagingly about Muslims, Catholics and Jews, not to mention gays and lesbians. Muslims are "ragheads," the pope is "senile" and tolerates "boy bumping," and Jews ... well, you can imagine. The fact of the matter is, though, that Corsi doesn't so much aspire to participate as he does to profit. n former years, Americans' ideology was influenced by their participation in the economy. To put it crudely, businesspeople tended to find a home in the Republican Party, working men and women in the Democratic Party. Today, we have a new class, one to which Corsi and his ilk belong, whose business is their ideology."

POPSDownload YouTube Videos as MP4 Files
Save the following link as a "bookmarklet" by dragging it to your Links bar (in Firefox, Safari) or right-clicking and adding it to your favorites (in Internet Explorer, Opera): to download the MP4 files, you need to use the same URL like for FLV files and append "&fmt=18": http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=ID&t=SIGNATURE&fmt=18 ID is the video's identification value, SIGNATURE is a value that prevents you from downloading the file just by knowing the ID. You could create this URL by looking at the source code of a YouTube page, but it's much easier to automatically generate it. When you want to download a YouTube video, click on the bookmarklet and you should see a new option below the embeddable code. Because YouTube doesn't send the right MIME type, you shouldn't click on the download link. Right-click and select "save link as" or "save target as" and enter a proper name for the video. Make sure to use the .mp4 extension when you enter the filename. YouTube's MP

POPSWomen who play casual games feature These clips are from page 2. Interesting things on page 1 are that Kohlman plays games for pain management, and that her regular hours of play are in the morning, eg. from 7am - 9am where people have a few hours to themselves. The lesson that putting the player in a situation where they don't know what to do bores, confuses and turns people off is consistent. The focus on stress shows that reaching a wider audience that she represents may involve evaluating "stress" in your gameplay design. If storylines and repeat play are boring, and competitiveness is stressful, what are the incentives to play? Gameplay is mentioned as the #1 reason to play, do I infer that's the Theory of Fun style buzz of skills improvement and mastery? This article doesn't explicitly say. Perhaps the "ridiculousness" could also mean visual humour and cute animations and expressions that aren't overly burdened with Story are a type of reward?

POPSExpert concerned by DIY genetic tests While DIY gene tests may have their place, often they can only highlight a factor, or give a likelihood rather than a certainty. I would think they would also tend to be used by people who expected to find problems. It being hard for their view of the results to be either objective, or subject to comparison with other possibilities and cases. I have trouble imagining a better test than family history, and the fact remains, that despite any number of tests our genes wont change.(Yet?) An interesting thing I heard which is somewhat related particularly with the statistics regarding the likelihood of cancer from any number of sources, is that by the age of 85 50% of people will have had some form of cancer. (One of the side effects of living for another generation.) I can't be sure of the accuracy of the figure, but it makes me feel more comfortable about smoking. At least if I'm going to get cancer, I can get it doing something I enjoy.

POPSThe 'Healthy' Office Of The Future In recent years companies have been putting a lot of time, effort and money into encouraging their employees to get fit and, more important, cut health care costs. But does the next step include a re-engineering of the typical office? It could happen sooner than you think. Dr. James Levine, a Mayo Clinic endocrinologist, is reporting that after six months, 18 employees in an office with walking tracks, desks attached to treadmills and games lost 156 pounds - an average of eight pounds each. Perhaps even more interesting - despite the lack of traditional desks and seating - no productivity was lost and revenue, in fact, rose.

POPSRuby Tuesday Blows Up An interesting turn for Ruby Tuesday, abandoning both its past and its planned future in an attempt to avoid the same fate as Bennigan’s. Will “simple, fresh American dining” be enough of a differentiator to lure diners into the revamped chain—and can the advertising change perceptions quickly enough to boost sales performance.

POPSThe Many Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide When it comes to hydrogen peroxide therapy there seems to be only two points of view. Supporters consider it one of the greatest healing miracles of all time. Those opposed feel its ingestion is exceptionally dangerous, and only the foolhardy could think of engaging in such behavior. Before either condemning or endorsing hydrogen peroxide, let's take a real close look at what we're dealing with.

POPSOil "Jump" Dow "How High"? But more notable than the recent consistency of the general counter-trend (i.e. stocks move up when oil moves down and vice versa) is the strength of the magnitude correlation. If you were to predict that stocks would move in perfect opposition to oil prices (offset downward by 1%), you could map the price movement of the Dow fairly well over the last two weeks. This is particularly interesting if you think the commodity fever has finally broken and the oil bubble has plenty more deflating to do. Bear in mind that at $121 per barrel, we've receded to May 2008 levels, but we're still more than 50% higher than we were just a year ago, so there may be a lot of room below.

POPSGlobal Warming caused by sunspot cycles says David Icke There are many interesting views given by this charismatic speaker but I took interest in his point that Global Warming is caused NOT by carbon emissions and industralisation and related activities. He showed a graph that related global temperature to sunspot cycles. It is something that scientists need to take into account and rebut or are they not telling us the whole truth? Would be glad to hear from some scientists or those who know this topic enough. I have a POLL at my forum at http://forum.mikeang.net or more directly to the post at http://bigbro.mikeang.net (though that is about big brother - but would be glad to have your opinion).

POPSThe Obama Doctrine This is an article from The American Prospect that I found on del.icio.us, now that I've been frittering around with Clipmarks. The detail in the article belies the notion that Sen. Obama doesn't have a plan in mind should he take office on the now-familiar "Day One". Despite being an Obama supporter myself, I often wonder whether other supporters (and opponents, for that matter) are paying close attention. I mean, people DO realize that Obama is supporting an escalation of the conflict in Afghanistan, while at the same time reducing American forces in Iraq. Just a thought. Interesting article. Read the WHOLE thing.

POPSTwentieth Century War Death Toll During the second quarter the death toll increased exponentially. Notice the dramatic change coinciding with dropping of the first atomic weapons! I thought this was very interesting when I heard the fact on the History Channel. I went right to Google to see it for myself.
