POPSObama's Health-Care Gamble Amazingly this is coming from Newsweek's Howard Fineman. He goes on to say: "The effort to jam the bill through Congress made the public dubious. Most Democrats voted for a version of the bill on the first round without having read, let alone digested, its thousands of pages. As the Christmas Eve vote approached, desperate last-minute stocking stuffers appeared in the small print, such as a $1.2 billion payoff to the state of Nebraska that secured Sen. Ben Nelson's reluctant vote." There's much more and it's indeed very telling. Get a grip Capitol Hill and "start over". Nobody wants it as is.

POPSAmplify'd from CureToday.com | Mantle Cell Lymphoma Classifying non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) can be confusing because there are so many types. The World Health Organization system is often used. It groups NHL by the appearance of the lymphoma cells, the chromosome features of the cells, and the presence of certain proteins on the cell surface.

POPSPage 148 Of The Health Bill Will Allow Government To Determine The Care You Get ...... after this ridiculous bill has been passed, that will determine what is and what isn’t an acceptable health care choice for you, or your doctor. I’ve spoken about the other side of this before. Both the House and Senate versions of the health care bill create insurance exchanges that all Americans must by their health care through. The government controls what insurance plans are offered on those exchanges. Now, per this part of the bill, your insurance company can only pay out to health care providers who meet the government’s standards for providing care. Meaning, for instance, that if the government should decide to stop covering mammograms for women younger than 50 then you won’t be able to buy a plan which covers that, or go to a hospital which gives such screenings. The same goes for all sorts of treatments, drugs, medical devices, etc. If it isn’t government approved, you won’t get it.

POPS Code Red In Washington D.C. Today; “This bill must be stopped!”
Also: The Dems now expect the CBO scoring of the Reid plan that no one has seen to look good once the Medicare expansion is thrown under the bus. And: After all the sound and fury, Joe Lieberman is now reportedly on board with Demcare. Update: Heeeeere come’s MoveOn! Steamed at the Democrat majority over negotiating with Joe Lieberman, the nutroots will hold their own “emergency rally” today at 1pm Eastern today to lobby for nationalized health care. Wonder if unhinged Jane Hamsher will show up to burn Sen. Lieberman’s wife in effigy. Update 11:49am Eastern: Lieberman talking to press right now. Says Demcare plan is now “heading in the right direction.” GOP Sen. Susan Collins is standing by him, smiling, through his remarks. Ok, Susan Collins speaks. She can’t see voting for the bill in its current form. “It’s still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” She says she won’t support it even with amendments intended to improve the bill (that no one has seen, of course).

POPSGenetic Diseases & Pedigree Dogs Can't help wondering about how our obsession with genetic health solutions compare to natural selection and biodiversity? I can't help but feel most of the time humans are particularly short-sighted seeing such a brief, brief, brief glimpse in the grander vaster scheme of things and hence make decisions, rules, laws based on this - with results that are life depleting rather than life enhancing (to ALL LIFE).

POPSHarvard study: Computers don't save hospitals money More; Himmelstein said that only a handful of hospitals and clinics realized even modest savings and increased efficiency -- and those hospitals custom-built their systems after computer system architects conducted months of earch. He pointed to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Latter Day Saints Hospital in Salt Lake City and Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis as facilities with some success in deploying efficient e-health systems. That's because they were intuitive and aimed at clinicians, not administrators. Programmers of the successful systems told Himmelstein that they didn't write manuals or offer training. "If you need a manual, then the system doesn't work. If you need training, the system doesn't work," he said.

POPSYour Obamacare Future - lots of government CYA, and dead people The trust, which has a budget of £250 million and more than 700 beds at its main hospital in Basildon, has repeatedly pledged to improve but failed to do so, the CQC's report said. “This Government has set up a labyrinth of bodies and inspectors which are meant to ensure high quality standards in our hospitals but it simply isn’t working. This is yet another case where a hospital has passed the test on paper but where real patient safety has clearly been compromised.”
