The cost of daily living, from buying food to getting medical care, will become difficult for all but a few as the dollar plunges. States and cities will see their pension funds drained and finally shut down. The government will be forced to sell off infrastructure, including roads and transport, to private corporations. We will be increasingly charged by privatized utilities—think Enron—for what was once regulated and subsidized. Commercial and private real estate will be worth less than half its current value. The negative equity that already plagues 25 percent of American homes will expand to include nearly all property owners. It will be difficult to borrow and impossible to sell real estate unless we accept massive losses. There will be block after block of empty stores and boarded-up houses. Foreclosures will be epidemic. There will be long lines at soup kitchens and many, many homeless. Our corporate-controlled media, already banal and trivial, will work overtime to anesthetize

POPSThe Presidency and The Constitution But all that protects the Constitution is the oath we swear to it. After decades of manipulation and mischief, we are getting a preview of what a post-constitutional government would look like: the Supreme Court makes policy, the White House takes over industries, the Treasury Department and IMF appropriate taxpayers dollars, and elected representatives divest their powers to unelected judges and bureaucrats. The dangers of our experiment in extra-constitutional politics are nearing a critical mass.

Während der zweite Weltkrieg dazu diente - jedenfalls geschickt dazu benutzt wurde - die US-Währung zum verkappten globalen Steuereinzugs- bzw. Tributeintreibungsinstrument zu machen, (wovon die Wachstumstheorie einen Teil ausmacht) dient die heutige globale Finanz- und Bankenkrise im Prinzip denselben Zwecken wie die grosse Krise vor 80 Jahren : der Einstimmung der Massen auf Krieg gegen die von beauftregten Agenten unterschiedlichster Ideologieen und Grade für an deren Elend "Schuldige". Diesmal sind die USA für diesen dritten Krieg erstaunlich hochgerüstet. Und es geht um die Erhaltung des USD-Tributimperiums - allein darum! Warum denn sonst wurde den nach 1940 geborenen Schülern Europas als Tugend eingebläut, nicht über Geld zu sprechen? Sie hätten verstehen gelernt, dass Geld ein Machtmittel und kein Zahlungsmittel, schon gar kein Leistungsentgelt ist. Niemand wäre so blöd gewesen, sich für das bisschen Geld versklaven zu lassen. Heute ist's zu spät. Die Falls ist zugeschnappt!

POPSHedges--It’s Not Going to Be OK his critiques of American capitalism, his warnings about the subversion of democratic institutions and the emergence of the corporate state. He does not hold out much hope for Obama. “The basic systems are going to stay in place; they are too powerful to be challenged,” Wolin told me when I asked him about the new Obama administration. “This is shown by the financial bailout. It does not bother with the structure at all. I don’t think Obama can take on the kind of military establishment we have developed. This is not to say that I do not admire him. He is probably the most intelligent president we have had in decades. I think he is well meaning, but he inherits a system of constraints that make it very difficult to take on these major power configurations. I do not think he has the appetite for it in any ideological sense. The corporate structure is not going to be challenged. There has not been a word from him that would suggest an attempt to rethink the American imperium.”

POPSMore of the same? I don't think it's true, but it amazing that McCain is viable considering the economy, Katrina response, Iraq and ever other thing this administration has touched. I realize McCain has distanced himself from a lot of this, but he certainly hasn't done so on Iraq...

POPSFrom the Mouth of Mossad: Pax Americana will continue beyond Iraq The former head of Mossad verifies the Iraq war is for Israel's benefit (for which Americans must die in proxy wars) and the agenda for a PAX AMERICANA (per the neoconservative agenda) will require U.S. military presence and more wars well beyond Iraq. (Article is somewhat dated, but oh so relevant in exposing the long term plan). And if a democrat takes the White (washed) House, watch for another "catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor" to continue and expand the war theatre in the Middle East and beyond. Both parties are beholden to the Israeli lobby (including Pelosi and Obama and Hillary) and will be provided with cover for promising to end war when in fact they will expand it (just as Wilson and FDR did in WWI and WWII).
