POPSDying to get to the USA We arrest and charge those trying to leave water and food for those who risk their lives crossing the desert to get here. Prior to 1848 - this was their ancestors land but we draw a line and say die if you cross without permission. From space, you cannot see those lines - just one earth.

POPSDetainees at Club Gitmo Getting H1N1 Vaccine Before You Well, why the hell not.....they already have personal chefs, cable TV and free movies. I'm sure that between prayer time on their new prayer rugs and beach volleyball tournaments they can manage to fit the vaccinations into their grueling schedules. How about we send the liberals down there to administer the H1N1 personally since they already have such high regard for those murdering terrorists.....

POPSLand Use Comparison - Solar Panels vs Feeding Pets I was quite amazed by this at first. Yet, when I thought about a bit longer, it did not particularly surprise me. It is just another one of those things that sits right under our noses, that we miss. "Can't see the forest through the trees" type of thing.

POPSGreyhound Racing Will Break Your Heart. After watching the video at the end of this clip, I cried for 30 minutes. But these critters need all the witnesses and help they can get. If you are so inclined, there's a petition at the website that you can sign to help end this vicious cycle. Gotta go, so I can look into what's involved in adopting one of these dogs. Sheesh! it's the last thing I need, another critter... Oh well!

POPSBeef recall after cow abuse investigation This story and the one below about fluffy chicks being ground up alive makes me feel ashamed to be part of the human race. How anyone could sit down to a leg of lamb knowing that a gentle creature had to suffer and be deprived of its life merely to satisfy 5 minutes of a human desire to eat flesh is beyond me. "Man in his arrogance thinks himself a great work. More humble, and I believe true, to consider himself created from animals." Charles Darwin.

POPSLatin Americans Ditch US ‘War on Drugs’ Reform campaigners have long argued that criminalization enriched drug cartels, fuelled savage turf wars, corrupted state institutions and filled prisons with addicts who presented no real threat to society. The US used its considerable influence to keep Latin America and the UN wedded to hardline policies which kept the focus on interdictions and jail sentences for consumers as well as dealers. The "war" was first declared by the Nixon administration. It’s about time more countries began viewing drug abuse as the medical problem it is. For some encouragement in support of this new direction look to Portugal who in 2001 decriminalized drug use and possession. Dealers are still jailed and subject to fines but users are sent to rehab and many don’t even use anymore. POPS “We The People” Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel is the “Special Advisor for Health Policy” for your administration. Emanuel wants doctors to look beyond individual human needs and consider “social justice.” Within his twisted mindset, it’s perfectly humane to suggest that doctors center their focus on hard, cold calculations that place more value on bureaucratically-defined budgets than people. The money could be better spent elsewhere, they are told. " View YouTube Presumptuously, Dr. Emanuel believes that communitarianism is above reproach. It should guide decisions on who gets care. Such detached opinions lead him to say that medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens. For example, he would not provide health services to patients with dementia and other serious mental challenges. Excerpts from The American Thinker: “Manufactured Healthcare Crisis,” by Jim Simpson "

POPSWhat Side Are They On? A declaration of war against common sense? What this question says, in the context of this commentary, is that anyone who stands for an ethical America is on the wrong side. When I ask the question “what side are they on?” I mean it as asking why is America becoming a terrorist nation? Why do we have to keep rehashing the ethics of torture? The common sense is that we all want an America that is free from terrorism. We are all on the same side. The common sense is that the use of torture turns the torturer into a terrorist. It can have no other effect. The common sense is that torture is not the only way to get info out of someone. There are more humane methods. We have intelligence gathering protocols in place that have been working for decades without the use of torture. Why is anyone defending the use of torture now? What has changed that now makes it okay for America to compromise its ethics?

POPSCongreesman Rogers on Health Care reform Someone who seems to know what's IN the bill and how it will apply to the majority of us. I'm for reform but not at the expense of taking away personal choices, penalizing businesses, dictating (aka. suggesting/helping) to our elderly and bringing on massive restructuring. As someone has suggested, I don't think our health care programs are as *sick* as Washington would like us to believe. The elimination of fraud and some tort reform, plus returning illegals to wherever they came from (in a humane way) would go a long way to beginning to make some significant improvements.

POPSObama Health Care Endorses Cannibalism
who energetically supported a plea from a 1972 Andes airplane crash survivor where 16 soccer team mates lived after 72 days of dining off the corpses of their companions until help arrived. Obama embraced survivor Jose Louis "Coohe" Inciarte in his efforts to promote organ donation as a key stone of his revolving health care plan. "No longer will you have to lament the humane death of your grandma," the President said, " for her heart will live on!" A Fox news reporter was shouted down when he attempted to link this comment with tribal Zulu warriors practice of eating the raw heart of vanquished enemies killed in battles. Outside the front yard was filled with protesters with hastily made signs proclaiming "Don't Eat My Grandma"....and other signs commenting " Eat Shit, But Not My Sister!" Rahm Emanuel was said to have jumped all over the opportunity to promote the new policy, in part encouraged by the recent arrest of New Jersey Rabbis accused of trading in fresh kidney

POPSBoycott PETA, Not Michael Vick Showing it has no class and will stop short of no immoral act, PETA continues to equate cruelty that includes the killing of animals to The Holocaust. PETA forced its 2003 "Holocaust on your Plate" exhibition that juxtaposed human Holocaust victim images with images of factory farming. I don't care if it was a Jewish man who lost relatives in The Holocaust who created the exhibit. That fact does not make him infallible, nor does it justify a repulsive comparison. It only shows PETA's moral low ground. And it shows unfortunately the waywardness of the Jewish man who was exploited by PETA. Plus, many Jewish organizations and Jews feel the same way I do.

POPS10 years ago at the Humane Society... Now I wish I could go home and hug my two shelter kitties. I don't know what was going on with their previous people that they wound up at the shelter, but I am grateful every single day that they're now home with us. "Never living in cage again: Priceless."

POPSDear Mr. President: Clean Up This Inhumane Mess; Now! You did not create this ugly mess of detention centers that has all the earmarks of being as bad as Walter Reed was for veterans. Place a priority on it and clean up and establish visible and enforceable rules of humane conduct in pubic and for-profit private facilities!

POPSDolphins do good without even trying - smile Great story of what a young girl learned from an encounter with a dolphin. Wouldn't it be nice if wannabe nature engineers "learned" as much from their encounters with nature. Then we wouldn't really have to worry about alligator-tomato mutants eating Cleveland.

POPSMy great job Ken White is the president of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. More: It is, in fact, both hard and wonderful to come here every day. Wonderful animals, smiling and happy, leaving us for their new homes. Wonderful animals, brought to us ill and injured, being made well by caring and compassionate staff and volunteers so that they then, too, can find their new families. Wonderful people, staff and volunteers, working to make a difference. Wonderful people, coming to us to help us save these thousands of wonderful lives. To be a part of that, to know that every day has that as its purpose, it is truly wonderful. Hard and wonderful, and I am grateful for the opportunity.

POPS"Does Ted Kennedy Deserve His Extended Cancer Care?" I don't know enough about Senator Kennedy's condition, but I would suppose that he has "a recurrent disease or ... a terminal progressive disease." That would be the case if his brain cancer is not curable. In the socialist Netherlands Kennedy would be a perfect candidate for passive euthanasia. Has anyone raised this question with Senator Kennedy? I know it seems to be in bad taste to even mention it. But if ObamaCare passes in the coming weeks, you can be sure that that question will be raised for you and me, and our loved ones. And no, we will not have a choice.
