POPSBest Documentary EVER: Never shown in USA !!! Amnesty International has publicly confirmed that a fear of violence directed at their staff forced the organisation to withdraw 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' from their recent film festival in Vancouver, Canada. In an article in the Guardian newspaper (http://www.guardian.co.uk/venezuela/story/0,12716,1090788,00.html), an Amnesty spokesman said the organisation had been forced to pull the film after staff at their Venezuelan office expressed fears for their safety if the film was screened. Prior to this, Amnesty has received a series of representations alleging that the film had distorted key events. These representations were rejected. The film was only pulled after the safety fears were raised. The Guardian confirmed that the campaign to halt screenings of the film is connected to opponents of the Venezuelan government.

POPSBush loses another client state. From 1980 to 1993, Honduras bought oil from Mexico and Venezuela as part of a pact aimed at offering cheap oil to debt and war-ridden Latin American countries.

POPSRussia Moving into U.S. Backyard Thanks to the arrogance of the Bush/Cheney foreign policy with Venezuela, we now have talk of nuclear reactors being built in Venezuela with Russia's assistance. Relations between U.S. and Venezuela have been deteriorating for years and as a result Russia is extending its reach around the world. If we had maintained better relations with Russia, this would not cause Americans much concern. But the reality is that we now have two oil rich nations trading nuclear technology and weapons that are not motivated to work with the U.S.

POPSCSM "America, stop waving the nuclear threat at potential adversaries" The US should use its nuclear arsenal for deterrence only and preserve the 'taboo' on nuclear weapons use. They both essentially said they would engage international reprobates – something this administration has repeatedly baulked at doing. Remember, Vice President Dick Cheney said, "We don't negotiate with evil. We destroy it." A tougher question is whether the next president would threaten to use nuclear weapons against a foreign enemy. Obama recently told the Associated Press that he would not use nuclear weapons "in any circumstance" involving civilians. Clinton once again criticized his foreign policy position saying that she didn't believe that "any president should make any blanket statements."

POPSChavez - More Like Castro Everyday Nevertheless, Mr. Chávez appears pleased with the circumstances, illuminating another way in which he resembles Castro: Both men are narcissists above all else, and both have been driven by an intense desire to rule as the omnipotent caudillo. The welfare of the nation is beside the point.

POPS Venezuela Has Won, Si ! Voters in Venezuela defeated a contentious referendum that would have given President Hugo Chávez sweeping new powers, the Election Commission announced early Monday.

POPSThe Joke's On Presidente Hugo Chávez "Lo Sentimos" The holdings are part of a strategy by which the Venezuelan government infuses dollars into its dollar-starved, overheating economy. The system -- which relies on selling structured notes made up of the sovereign debt of other South American nations -- allows Venezuelan banks and individuals to buy dollars at the official exchange rate of 2.15 bolivars, about half the black-market rate. With annual inflation at 34.5%, analysts say the bolivar would be considerably weaker without the structured note sales. The Finance Ministry could hold the notes to maturity instead of unwinding them in the hope the underlying bonds recover in value. But there is a high risk that they depreciate further. The fund in which the notes are held, Fonden, finances many of the projects that Mr. Chávez touts as part of his socialist "Bolivarian Revolution."

POPS Poll Says Chavez Loses Venezuela Referendum Lead A student movement has emerged to lead the anti-Chavez campaign, amplifying the condemnation from traditional opposition parties, the Roman Catholic church, rights groups and the defectors who say the reforms are authoritarian. Chavez, who refuses to scrap term limits for other officials, would have to leave office in 2013 without the law change. He urged Venezuelans to see vote as a referendum on him. This year, Chavez has hurt his standing by shutting an opposition TV station and failing to end some food shortages. Amanda Aguilar, 17, was in line at 5:30 a.m. waiting for a food store to open to buy her single, rationed carton of milk. The student from Chavez's home-state of Barinas hopes the referendum will force him to change or force him out of office. "All this lining up ends come December 2," she said.

POPSObama born to Muslim Martians!
Hey, believe that and I've got a bridge on the MOON to sell ya! Good Gobbly Goop, there are too many gullibles in the USA. Sometimes, I get a notion to post on the Internet, something so outrageous, that only a person living on some mountaintop without any info at hand and with an IQ of minus 10, could believe. Just to see how breakneck fast it would go from computer to computer. Then I’ll sit back and listen to the, collective shouts of the 'Uninformed" yelling, "I TOLD YOU SO, I KNEW OBAMA WAS A DIRTY WHATCHAMACALLIT!" We sure are a nation of nincompoops (Well, too many, anyhow.). It's scary, that countless "informationally challenged" will vote for a USA president, based on rumors and negative hearsay of the opposition. What's so stressful, is that not only they, will live with the consequences but the rest of us who have half a brain will also have to live with their boneheaded mindsets. Just for fun, let's have another 8 years of Dubya to see what how low we could go.

POPSIt's their M.O. Similar tactics apparently by Google to purge Conservative blogs. Do not believe this cannot happen in the USA. When you have those suggesting high gas prices and the catastrophic effects are a good thing if it leads to a wind turbine, then we are already half-way there and the rationalizations are endless. A window to the mentality of the radical Left.

POPSNOT Available In 'free nor fair' USA "Colombian President Alvaro Uribe apologized for his country's cross-border attack on rebels to Ecuadorian counterpart Rafeal Correa, who accepted Uribe's apology and shook hands with Uribe. Later on, Uribe shook hands with his Venezuelan and Nicaraguan counterparts Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega"

POPSChavez Threatens Shut-off Of Oil To US One of these times he's really going to do it, even if only for a couple of days, at a time when it could be a critical moment. Won't that be ducky? Funny thing is, I can't blame him. Doesn't mean I like it or him, but I can't blame him for standing up for his country.

POPSAmerica: Don't Wait For Pelosi, Seize Our Energy Future Now!
Only today, they have energy as a weapon. One premise of the new Putin Doctrine is that oil prices will stay high and that Russia, with its plentiful reserves, can use oil profits to fund its global ambitions. This is where Congress comes in. Since President Clinton refused to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 1995, Democrats have stood in the way of any rational energy plan. Today, we pump just 25% of our oil; 40 years ago, it was 60%. We send about $900 billion a year overseas to buy oil, money that helps fund Russian and radical Islamic mischief. This is a problem. Now for the good news: The U.S. is the world's largest potential oil supplier — with as much oil, the Institute for Energy Research says, as has been used by the entire world over the last 150 years. Just offshore, we have 86 billion barrels of crude. The U.S. Arctic region, including Alaska, holds 30 billion barrels. In the Far West, we have more than 800 billion barrels of shale oil.
