POPSWill Dog Fighting Videos be Protected by Freedom of Speech? If the Supreme Court rules to uphold the conviction of Stevens, the law will be reinstated and animals will once again be protected from people who make money from their suffering. It seems like it should be an easy decision for the Supreme Court, but since the concept of free speech has come into question everyone from book publishers to movie producers, photographers, artists and journalists have gotten involved. They have taken animal cruelty out of the equation and replaced it with their own interests that they believe will be damaged if Stevens loses. Even the ACLU has gotten involved. The New York Times went as far as filing a “brief” in support of Stevens. They said, “The 1999 law imperils the media’s ability to report on issues related to animals.” Media publications cite that they are concerned that hunting and fishing magazines will be censored and general reporting on animal issues will be limited.

POPSTeens Club for Animal Rights These days there are too many bad things that our children can get into...lack of supervision, boredom, low self esteem, peer pressure can all contribute. That's why it's important for them to know what goes on in this world and what part they can play in making a difference. By giving them a voice in something they believe in, is one way to keep their minds occupied. Nothing could feel better than knowing that they are saving the lives of animals...Humane Teen Clubs should be encouraged in our homes and in the schools..Our children need to learn that they can make a difference, everything is not hopeless ...I would be proud to know my child or grandchild joined in the fight against animal cruelty around the world and in their own community

POPSSave Whales--Not Whaling There are such extremes in how whales are viewed by humans. Some people pull out all the stops to save one or two stranded or misdirected whales (i.e. the mother and calf in the Sacramento River) while elsewhere they are viewed as something to be shot with an exploding harpoon and slaughtered.

POPSMilitary Uses Pigs in Trauma Training The idea is to work with live tissue. You get a pig and you keep it alive. And every time I did something to help him, they would wound him again. So you see what shock does, and what happens when more wounds are received by a wounded creature. My pig? They shot him twice in the face with a 9-millimeter pistol, and then six times with an AK-47 and then twice with a 12-gauge shotgun. And then he was set on fire. I kept him alive for 15 hours. That was my pig.

POPSFur for Fashion is Inhumane I've always thought that fur was a tacky clothing accessory. Needless to say I was disgusted when I learned how many animals it required to make a fur coat. There is more information at the site infurmation.com, including some information about dog and cat fur. Do these poor animals a favor. Wear your own skin--not theirs.
