Behind Bars the Drama Of Drew Peterson Continues...
Delilah1234
by Delilah1234  11-2-2009
It should be interesting as Will County prosecutors present facts during the trial while Peterson's defense team of chicken, hot sauce and thighs mixes an enlightening concoction of documents in an attempt to exclude hearsay testimony when the murder trail for Kathleen Savio begins.

Picky Vicki Gourmet Barbecue Sauces & Rubs
TommysGuns
by TommysGuns  10-1-2009    1
For the past 5 years I have been purchasing my sauces and rubs from Picky Vicki's. They are one of the few places that offer gluten free, preservative free products. This is such a relief for people who are sensitive to food allergies. My favorite is the Xtra hot sauce, it's great on all kinds of meat.

Pepper Plant hot sauce, BBQ sauce, and more
Lexica
by Lexica  5-23-2009    2
Serving Suggestions POPCORN - Add a teaspoon of your favorite Pepper Plant hot sauce to a 1/4 cup of butter, melt and pour over hot popcorn. SPREAD - Add Pepper Plant to mayonnaise to taste. Use this to enhance potato salad, spread on sandwiches, or use as a dip for raw vegetables and seafood. BEAN DISHES - Spice up your secret recipe or add to canned chili. Can save lima beans or string beans your kids avoid. COCKTAIL SAUCE - Mix Pepper Plant with catsup, horseradish, and a squeeze of lemon. Great for deep-fried shrimp or seafood. Super for dipping French fries. STIR FRY - Cook in equal amounts of Pepper Plant and sesame oil for a California-Pacific Rim sensation. SOUPS - Make Pepper Plant your secret ingredient in home-made soup. OK, you don't' have time, so let Campbell do the work. Spice up canned vegetable soup, tomato soup, or cream soups.

Hot Stuff in a Squeeze Bottle – Sriracha hot sauce
Lexica
by Lexica  5-20-2009    2
A piece of trivia: Sriracha is the hot sauce of choice in most penal institutions because it comes in a plastic bottle rather than glass. And the cap is green so the bottle as a whole looks like a ripe pepper: green cap, red body. Love the Sriracha. Love it. You can't have proper pho without Sriracha.

I think the pineapples & red peppers ought to be be chopped up as a spicy chutney myself, the bun should be lightly toasted, and the Vidalia onion should be shredded up in home made coleslaw topping, but that's just me.

This Is Why You're Fat (a food blog)
Spiritualmonkey

The Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt looks delicious and I could probably go for 2.5 days after eating one before I ate anything else. And that's including some heavy-duty kettlebell swinging You KNOW there are American's out there, right now, having their second one of the week. Shoveling 10 lbs of food into your face does not count as exercise if you burn X calories but ingest 3X worth in the process.

'Warrior Gene' Predicts Aggressive Behavior After Provocation
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  1-23-2009    1
The PNAS paper is the first experimental test of whether MAOA-L individuals display higher levels of actual behavioral aggression in response to provocation. A total of 78 subjects took part in the experiment over networked computers (all were male students from the University of California–Santa Barbara). The results support previous research suggesting that MAOA influences aggressive behavior, with potentially important implications for interpersonal aggression, violence, political decision-making, and crime. The finding of genetic influences on aggression and punishment behavior also questions the recently proposed idea that humans are “altruistic” punishers, who willingly punish free-riders for the good of the group.

Can i have the Barack Obama doll and ice cream?
balthazarus
by balthazarus  1-10-2009    5
“I absolutely love the man.” The margins are sky-high: a T-shirt that costs between $5 and $7 will retail for $15 to $25. “There has never been a better time to be in this business,” he said. “My biggest concern is running out of merchandise. You can’t give Bush stuff away at the moment but anything with Obama’s picture on it is walking out of the store.” The market for Obama products, added Mr Warlick, has been worth as much as $250 million since the start of the campaign

added 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce to the mayo for more flavor. I did not make her "House Seasoning" either, I just threw in some garlic powder, salt and pepper. You may also want to run the cornbread stuffing through the food processor for a finer crumb or beat them up with a pestle like me. If you do not have "Cornbread Stuffing Mix" in your country you may use seasoned bread crumbs instead. Serves 6.

recipe: persimmon salsa
Lexica
by Lexica  11-3-2008
From the description of the persimmons ("should fall out of their skins"), I think this recipe uses Hachiya persimmons (the acorn-shaped ones that get soft when ripe), not Fuyu (the shorter, squatter ones that stay firm even when ripe).

recipe: spicy lime & cilantro soup
Lexica
by Lexica  10-18-2008    1
I'm currently trying (with only partial success) to fight off the Death Cold-Flu-Just-Kill-Me-Now thing that's going around our area. Tired, achy, low energy, not very hungry, and not able to stand up for too terribly long without getting dizzy -- so what to eat? This soup is just the ticket. Quick, easy, and mostly pantry-based (except for the lime juice and cilantro), its tart spiciness is exactly what I need when I'm sick and there's nobody around to go get takeout hot & sour soup. ;-)
