POPSThis Reminds Me Of... The neighbours tree has a shrub with bright red berries just like these. During the past two weeks, there has been this cheeky bower bird who screeches until I come outside. It then hops about till he finds one of those juicy berries, squawks once more and then flies off.

POPSMy Frog Friends I love frogs and since moving to this current dwelling space I have utterly chuffed by my frog friends that regularly visit or are drawn by the outdoor light. This is "George" he is the biggest, then there is a middle sized one I have not yet named and a smaller one again which I have not named. When the moon is high and I "feel like an insomniac" I go outside to look at the stars and the moon if it is bright, sometimes "George is on my chair" and we share it briefly before he hops off. I genuinely have a preference for wildlife in their "free state" not cultured, not cultivated, not behind bars, with ample habitat to allow them to thrive so that I can continue to enjoy their presence in my life. I love wildlife allowed to BE FREE - as they were born to be just like you and me.

POPSFlorida woman rescues good ol' boys from gators I love the last photo. "Don't worry, fellas, I got this one under control. You two just stay there at arm's length – make that, at extended arm's length – and I'll take care of it. Couldja give that cord a tug, though? I've got the gator, you just pull the handle."

POPSBar review: 15 Romolo, San Francisco More: The vibe: Understated yet masculine, with reclaimed Douglas fir tables and muted hues of gray and brown. A corner jukebox stocks everything from Johnny Cash to M.I.A. The crowd: A flawless blend of sweet (wayward innocents from the Broadway strip) and tart (the almighty league of cocktail nerds). Best seat: Though Baird and Smith apparently wanted the space to have "egalitarian seating," where there's no best seat, the tables next to the windows that overlook Romolo alley are the best in the house, especially on warm nights, when you can gaze out at the North Beach street scene. Killer app: The 15 Romolo folks have dubbed their food seasonal carnival fare, with such tidbits as smoked pork sliders ($6) with cabbage slaw, jambalaya croquettes ($4) and funnel cakes ($5) sprinkled with powdered sugar. The crispy dogs ($6) feature Fatted Calf franks wrapped in corn tortillas and fried.

POPSAnderson Valley Boont Amber Ale The Boont Amber Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville, California pours out a deep, rich, reddish amber with good clarity and a two finger, off-white head that hangs around for a few minutes. On the nose aromas of black tea, malty grain and a subtle sweetness. In the mouth flavors of sweet malt balanced by pine and flowery hops that show more towards the end. Some iced tea like flavors too with a touch of spice.
