POPSWhat does it mean to be an American? This 10-year-old boy gets it More: After asking his parents whether it was against the law not to stand for the pledge, Will decided to do something. On Monday, Oct. 5, when the other kids in his class stood up to recite the pledge of allegiance, he remained sitting down…Each day, the substitute got a little more cross with him. On Thursday, it finally came to a head… Will was sent to the office… At the end of our interview, I ask young Will a question that might be a civics test nightmare for your average 10-year-old. Will's answer, though, is good enough — simple enough, true enough — to give me a little rush of goose pimples. What does being an American mean? “Freedom of speech,” Will says, without even stopping to think. “The freedom to disagree. That's what I think pretty much being an American represents.” Somewhere, Thomas Jefferson smiles.

Adkisson made statements that because he could not get to the leaders of the liberal movement that he would then target those that had voted them into office. Adkisson stated that he had held these beliefs for about the last ten years. Adkisson's manifesto also cited the inability to find a job, and that his food stamps were being cut. POPSA quiet voice for gay marriage Many of these former spouses -- from those who still feel raw resentment toward their exes to those who have reached a mutual understanding -- see the legalization of same-sex marriage as a step toward protecting not only homosexuals but also heterosexuals. If homosexuality was more accepted, they say, they might have been spared doomed marriages followed by years of self-doubt. "It's like you hit a brick wall when they come out," Brooks said. "You think everything is fine and then, boom!" Carolyn Sega Lowengart calls it "retroactive humiliation." It's that embarrassment that washes over her when she looks back at photographs or is struck by a memory and wonders what, if anything, from that time was real. Did he ever love her?

POPSCarrie Prejean’s Attorney Responds to ‘Inaccurate and Misleading’ Rumors If you just read what those on on the left, particularly the gay left, and in their MSM echo chamber said about Carrie Prejean without hearing the beauty queen’s actual words, you might have thought she had slandered gays, saying that the reason “homosexuals” weren’t worthy of state-sanctioned married was because we were perverts, incapable of relationship. I'm gay, and I don't believe she smeared me. or the gay community. Ratilfarts is an idiot. What the hell he knows is beyond me. Don't listen to that dumbass. Prejean just articulated how she defined marriage — which is how all societies have defined the institution since time immemorial, by gender difference.* By the way ratilfart, you are a pig.

POPSTown Hall protesters are nativists, not racists More: Just consider how utterly stupid and idiotic conservatives seem to serious Democrats when they smugly tell each other that progressives and Democrats are all really “fascists” because they support a variety of mild social-democratic polices. Within their closed ideological bubble the conservatives feel quite certain that they have achieved a deep psychological insight by recognizing that latent Adolph Hitlers lie just beneath the surface of everyone from Teddy Kennedy to Robert Redford and Jane Goodall. They actually sit around and pat themselves on the back for their penetrating aptitude at psychological analysis. This is exactly how stupid progressives and Democrats appear to culturally conservative Americans when they label as “racism” beliefs that these Americans know are in reality vastly different and more complex.

POPSIf God Had Wanted Me To Be Accepting Of Gays Here, let's start with the basic facts: I hate and fear gay people. The way they feel is different from how I feel, and that causes me a lot of confusion and anger. Everyone knows God is all-powerful. He could easily have given me the capacity to investigate what's behind those feelings rather than tell strangers in the park they're going to hell for holding hands. But God clearly has another path for me. And who am I to question His divine will? Compassion, tolerance, understanding, basic decency, the ability to put myself in another person's position: God could have endowed me with any of those traits and yet—here is the crucial part—He didn't. Why? Because the Creator of the Universe wants me to demonize homosexuals in an effort to strip them of their fundamental human rights.

POPSLet gays serve openly... NOW. In an attempt to allow homosexual service members to serve quietly, a law was created that forces a compromise in integrity, conflicts with the American creed of ‘equality for all,’ places commanders in difficult moral dilemmas, and is ultimately more damaging to the unit cohesion its stated purpose is to preserve.

POPSTime to End 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' Official Writes Sure. Please declare yourselves openly so that people serving along side of you can decide how to deal with this. There are more important things to think about other than whether the person next to you is queer or not when you are in combat. I have my opinions and I don't envy those who choose to "tell". But .... get rid of the law. It's deceitful and hypocritical.

POPSGay in Iraq The first comment in response to this article : webparent, Tulsa (8/17/2009 7:29:30 AM) "While I do not agree with such measures I also do not agree with homosexuality......these Sunni's are following the way of the curan and the bible. Maybe people should reconsider not being gay. Whether its their choice or not is irrelevant. They can make a change. If nothing else they can be celibate. It is not the natural way of life nor is it in god's will. I and others will pray that this torture stops and new choices are made." Read more at source...

POPSGovernor's Race Erupts Over McDonnell's Past Views:Ladies drop the shoes and go back to the kitchen In the thesis, "The Republican Party's Vision for the Family: The Compelling Issue of The Decade," McDonnell described working women as "detrimental" to the traditional family. He criticized a U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing contraception for unmarried couples and decried the "purging" of religion from schools. He advocated character education programs in public schools to teach "traditional Judeo-Christian values," and he criticized federal tax credits for child care expenditures because they encouraged women to enter the workforce.

POPSAre You an Islamophobe? If you answered most or all of these affirmatively, you are a vile Islamophobe and deserve to be beheaded as the quran instructs. If you answered one third or more of them affirmatively, you are a borderline Islamophobe and need to receive brainwashing to become a full-fledged dhimmi.

POPSThe Asshole Behind Prop 8: The Bishop of Oakland, CA We know all this because as homosexuals and their supporters were wondering how this all came about, Cordileone gloated about his work in an interview with an obscure Catholic radio network. He bragged about how gay men and lesbians never saw him coming & called gay marriage a Satanic plot by "the Evil One" to destroy morality in the modern world. Now, Cordileone's work has been rewarded, and the Vatican has made him the most important religious figure in the East Bay. Alameda County is one of the most liberal and gay-friendly parts of the world; it arguably has the most lesbian residents in the United States, & voters here rejected Proposition 8 by almost 62 percent. & the man who leads some 400,000 Catholics from his new Lake Merritt cathedral... just got done taking the right to marry from every gay man and woman in the East Bay. Dear Bishop Sal: fuck you. Quite sincerely, A married, het Oaklander.

POPSLutherans to Allow Sexually Active Gays as Clergy The same-gender couples I know live in love and faithfulness and are called to proclaim the word of God as are all of us. - Rev. POPSFed Up God "To Turn Buddha" Asked whether He felt guilty for abandoning his followers who have ridgedly followed the ancient text book 'The Bible' for centuries, God replied sheepishly "I never finished reading it if I'm honest...It got a bit boring half way through so I just skipped to the end. I prefered Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code'...that was pretty cool". Whether God's decision to move on will destroy Christianity remains to be seen, but in these initial stages the Vatican, at least, seems calm. A spokesman said "To be honest, we are pretty sure we can blag our way through this, we've been making shit up to justify our attrocities for years..."

POPSWhy won't opponents of same-sex marriage make predictions on the record?
More: You would think they would react like Albert Pujols when presented with a hanging curveball. Yet none was prepared to forecast what would happen in same-sex marriage states versus other states. Maggie Gallagher, president of the Virginia-based Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, has declared that losing this battle "means losing American civilization." But she politely declined my invitation. Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, has been equally dire… When it came time to offer more specific predictions, Kurtz was missing in action. I e-mailed him twice and left a message on his office voicemail. After two weeks, I'm beginning to lose hope. The only person willing to talk was David Blankenhorn, president of the Institute for American Values…When I talked with him, though, he declined to predict what tangible bad things will occur in same-sex marriage states.
