I was one of those getting dive-bombed yesterday. Awesome! They kept playing buzz the tower. It was great being able to show the kiddos. They thought it was neat when a few landed on us. I counted about 7 different species on the front of our home. I couldn't couldn't keep count of how many there were total, but there was a lot.

It is famous saying, “First impression is the last impression”. It is quite true when you take some one to your dream home. The wonderful exterior siding with lower maintenance and increase energy efficiency could be one of the ways to beautifying your home. Today there are several manufactured exterior siding materials which offer the promise of low or no maintenance.

far right leader Geert Wilders stuffs UK and enters legally, Sieg Heil!
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-18-2009
Geert is determined to prove he is not a racist or Islamaphobic and that he just hates the thought of Islam and Muslims taking over the "Master Races"! He only wants Holland to be Dutch, Germany to be German, France to be French, etc, and the UK not to be an American Colony! (too late, oops!) Anyway Geert and his SS are busy preparing for the invasion of the Isle of Man claiming the Dutch discovered it long before the Manx Cat and want's it back! The Isle of Man will then become a Muslim no-go zone (yes!!!!), a true celtic state, fly the flag of Oranje (pissing the catholics off in Northern Ireland!) and Margaret Thatcher will become the new Prime Minister holding hands with Mijnheer Geert Wilders over a "lekker kopje hollandse koffie en weed cake" (translation = nice cup of Dutch coffee and a piece of real Dutch "weed" cake!)! "Tot Ziens and see you in the UK" Geert smiled!

It's the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. It's another chance for people to call the US a terror state and Truman a war criminal. Or it's another chance for a lot of people to realize that they're alive today because of the A-bomb"not just the millions of US troops who were slated to invade the Japanese home islands, either. There are their descendants as well. Then there are the millions of Japanese who survived because of the A-bomb, and their descendants. And"as this article makes clear"there are many more millions of Chinese and other Asians who survived once the Japanese surrendered"and their descendants. But…who really cares about so many Asians anyway if the point is to blame the US? As for the Japanese themselves, they have always blamed the correct person for the A-bomb: the emperor. His policies brought this destruction down on their heads, nothing else. Then again, the bomb also saved lived in Europe since it prevented Stalin from taking over nations in Western

A life revealed: "The Afghan girl", seventeen years later
Lexica
by Lexica  7-17-2009    2
More: In the mid-1990s, during a lull in the fighting, Sharbat Gula went home to her village in the foothills of mountains veiled by snow. To live in this earthen-colored village at the end of a thread of path means to scratch out an existence, nothing more. There are terraces planted with corn, wheat, and rice, some walnut trees, a stream that spills down the mountain (except in times of drought), but no school, clinic, roads, or running water. Here is the bare outline of her day. She rises before sunrise and prays. She fetches water from the stream. She cooks, cleans, does laundry. She cares for her children; they are the center of her life. Robina is 13. Zahida is three. Alia, the baby, is one. A fourth daughter died in infancy. Sharbat has never known a happy day, her brother says, except perhaps the day of her marriage… "I want my daughters to have skills," she said. "I wanted to finish school but could not. I was sorry when I had to leave."

Saddam 'feared Iran more than US'
tabsey
by tabsey  7-3-2009
So in the end he was just an excuse to do what daddy and the boys wanted. His crimes against human rights sit comfortably with those of the invaders. The anger many of us felt at the lies, is now justified. Along with the attitude that all politicians lie. Not healthy. And now we watch as the oil is finally given to the lobbyists' employers.

Parallels: The lefties in general criticize the invasion of Iraq, supported Hussein's right to continued dictatorship, sent protesters (and elected officials) to Baghdad decrying the U.S. invasion, declare that the U.S. deserved September 11th and that it's Tony Blairs fault that London's mass transits were bombed, and continuously praise Castro for his excellent management of Cuba (great health-care and schools, natch). And when push came right down to shove in the 2004 election, Bill Clinton advised John Kerry to drop support for gay marriage (you know, Bill Clinton, the "first black President" who signed the Defense of Marriage Act and who utterly caved in on the gays in the military issue; his wife, apparently, suffers from the same lack of conviction).

Cheney tied to cash theft and possible murder in Iraq
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  6-17-2009    1
The case against Dick Cheney just keeps getting better. One of the biggest threats to American freedoms is now being tied to a ‘spoils of war’ cache and a murder. This is the only place I have heard this charge, so the source is a bit suspect. But given the state of ‘fairness’ of our main stream media I am not surprised that this is the only source. On November 14, 2005, “In one of the worst intelligence fiascoes carried out by the neocon administration of Iraq under Paul “Jerry’ Bremer, Saddam Hussein’s chief money mover and financial adviser was beaten to death by US interrogators in Tikrit after the U.S. invasion. After Samara was occupied by US forces, it was discovered that Abu Seger lived in a home on the Tigris River just 200 yards from the main U.S. military position in the city. It did not take long for U.S. troops to break down Seger’s door and haul him off to a detention center.”

When the Minutemen 'go tactical' for dollars: Forde intended gang to rip off dealers
ratilfar
by ratilfar  6-14-2009    4
Indeed, it's starting to look as though Forde may have been organizing basically a low-rent version of The Order: an ideological army turned into criminal moneymaking operation. Only this time, anti-immigrant nativism instead of white supremacy is the ideological driver. And when The Order crumbled in flames, it exposed all kinds of criminal dealings on the far right.

You Can't Hear The Jackboots, But This Is Still Oppression
merrie
by merrie  6-14-2009    2
prying officials be empowered to force their way into the homes of parents who prefer to educate their sons and daughters at home. This is our all-powerful State's angry response to a growing rebellion, by mothers and fathers who are sick of seeing their children bullied, neglected and mis-educated in the state education system, and rightly think they can do a better job. How can the commissars in charge of the Western world's worst schools be fit to judge how well a parent is teaching her own child? The pretext for this invasion of privacy is a baseless suggestion that home education could be used as a cover for child abuse. But these are not subject to Comrade Balls's new inquisition. Why not? Because they don't challenge his desire to march all children into egalitarian comprehensive sausage machines, notorious as they are for violence, ignorance and drugs. peter hitchens ~ daily mail.co.uk
