POPSParents' fury as failed asylum seeker who killed 12-year-old girl in hit-and-run
They may as well give passports out in lucky bags because that is all they are worth. I cannot believe the judge's decision and that he thinks it is right for him to stay here. Is he on another planet?' houston Paul and Margaret Houston are furious that Ibrahim can remain in the UK The 39-year-old engineer, from Darwen, Lancashire, added: 'If I thought he was genuinely sorry, I would have stood up in court and said I didn't want him to be taken away from his children.' All Ibrahim's applications for asylum and citizenship had been rejected at the time of the accident. POPSThe poor pay the most No matter what the nature of loss, either natural disaster or acts of terrorism and war, it is always the poor that pay the most. The rich have more insulation in the form of greater resources, often more dispersed in the economy and geographically. A poor person has one house, a rich person may have multiple houses, more likely to be insured against loss. The poor also don't have the same means of escaping danger as the rich do. They can't flee the country, they can't fly away on a plane, or speed away in their cars.

Terror gripped my heart and stomach, the darkest of darkness. Then I had a clear thought of my wife and three-month-old daughter, and was overwhelmed by sadness as I felt the parachute lift from my back. I'd opened it without even thinking, just as you might instinctively hit the brakes in a car, and experienced a brief sense of hope. This is going to hurt a lot, I thought, or
