Washington Politicians Consign Our Republic to The Scrapeheap of History
merrie
by merrie  12-20-2009    1
The failed sixties-retreads who burned flags and tore up draft cards are now in office and the those who choose to serve our country are tolerating the hippies' nonsense because the press is overwhelmingly fixated on this new form of communism. And what does the Republican leadership do when confronted by a rabidly confrontational Democrat Party with a decidedly Marxist agenda? Offer watered-down versions and claim to be representing our interests. That is capitulation; capitulation to the media, to the Democrats and of their own ideals. What we need is a firebrand of a leader who is not afraid to confront the enemy on their own turf. I say the enemy because those who endeavor to consign our way of life and capitalism to the scrap heap of history I consider enemies of the republic and guilty of treason. Every Democrat and every Republican who votes in the affirmative for that sham of a "health care reform" bill will, in my opinion, be guilty of treason ....

The Opinuary Column: Freedom isn't Free (or Alive)
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-6-2009
It fought its addiction to Crystal Meth (Cheaper Than Coke But Still Not Free) and Tobacco (the first carton for soldiers was Free, but after that, not so much) with grit and determination, which it had in buckets (buckets that were Free but had to be returned when it was done with them). In the weeks before its death, the Opinion was often observed meditating on a litany of uncomfortable realizations: it had discovered that its apartment wasn't Free, its bar tab wasn't Free, its groceries weren't Free and, having failed to appear in court on misdemeanor charges, it suffered the additonal ignominy of facing the fact that indeed, not even its DUI was Free ($250.00 just to post bail!). Its only words to the judge were these: "In the bastardized yet immortal phrasings of Kris Kristofferson: Freedom's just another word for something that isn't free..." Family of the deceased Opinion are asking that, in lieu of flowers (which aren't free) that each and every one of us do our part to d

California's most conservative county sucks up the public assistance by the bucket
Lexica
by Lexica  6-30-2009
Assemblywoman Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, chairwoman of a legislative budget conference committee, ordered up a report last winter ranking which of the state's counties send the most tax money per capita to the Capitol, and which ones consume the most in health and other services. It showed that conservative counties - like Modoc, with 49.9 percent Republican registration, the state's highest - generally consumed the most, and liberal counties sent in the most. Marin County was No. 1 in contributions, at $4,793 per person, and San Francisco was No. 3 at $3,578. Modoc was No. 2 in consumption at $2,216 per person, and conservative Tulare was No. 1, with $2,223. "I don't think voters in the conservative counties understand the connection between the service they are receiving and the votes their representatives are making," Evans said…In Modoc, the way it works is that if the cuts being proposed go through, near-catastrophe will reign.

About Compassionate Conservatism
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  6-19-2009    2
I know Bush was crazy with the spending, but that’s not really an excuse for Obama to airdrop gasoline on a wildfire. The conservative blogosphere really should start a fundraiser to buy everyone at Daily Kos helmets to keep them from hurting themselves. That’s compassionate conservatism right there. In Africa, newborn sons are named after George W. Bush. Yet his legacy to this country is the election of a black man — whose father was a true son of Africa. Bush saved over a million lives in Africa from HIV related illnesses. If that kind of compassion is "a contradiction in terms," or troubling, perhaps the bar is set too high.

Insect Plague: They Hate Rock Music
merrie
by merrie  4-26-2009
So people in Tuscarora use the only tool they know to convince them to take another path without killing them: Hard rock and heavy metal during the day, since at night the critters sleep—while they are not eating the fellow crickets that die during the march. And while there's no scientific evidence that strong sound waves like those produced by the likes of Kiss and Metallica, the thing is that it works for them.

After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate taste. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can have those. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. And since you hate guns and you hate war, we'll take the firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. But you are going to be responsible for finding a biodiesel vehicle big enough to haul them around. We'll keep the capitalism, the greedy corporations, the pharmaceutical companies; we will keep Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have the homeless, the homeboys, the hippies and illegal aliens. We will keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, the greedy CEOS and all of the rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and we'll let you have NBC and Hollywood.

this is funny but personally I think the Hippies had it right. The problem they had was leadership. pooooor leadership! If they had some cleancuts, with suits, ties, degrees and such leading them, they just might have pulled it off. Timothy Leary and all those like him nailed their on caskets. Unfortunately.

Standard Carbon Footprint Analysis Featured On CNN
merrie
by merrie  1-27-2009
Standard Carbon footprint analysis featured on CNN Thursday, November 6th, 2008 On Election Day, CNN Headline News interviewed Standard Carbon’s Brendan Woodward to discuss the carbon footprint of the presidential election. In the full interview, political hypocrisy was discussed as both candidates have proposed cap and trade regulations, but not chosen to follow them on a voluntary basis. The climate change impact of the two candidates was large-requiring the equivalent carbon offsets of more than 18 square miles of new forest to grow for 10 years. For Barack Obama, this would have required about $700,000 to purchase enough carbon offsets, or a mere 1% of his 3/4 of a billion dollar campaign budget. Air travel, commuting, office space, paper, direct mail, meetings and event, fundraisers, and get out the vote activities http://standardcarbon.com/resources/?p=76 "Gaia" Re Gaia http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/345AA76F-4352-4015-9846-1D3D3E6302FF/
