POPSSen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) Embraces Communist Van Jones
For a time, Jones had been politically radioactive to Democrats but Gillibrand’s decision to work alongside him appears to bring Jones’s political exile to an end. Gillibrand, who had a reputation as a moderate Democrat before entering the U.S. Senate, has been steadily tacking to the left since being appointed to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton so it’s no surprise that she is cozying up to her party’s radical left-wing. Gillibrand was one of only seven senators who voted against de-funding the radical leftist group ACORN known for its decades of involvement in election fraud. At the time she defended her vote, telling the New York Post through a spokesperson, “The truth remains that thousands of New York families who are facing foreclosure depend on charitable organizations like ACORN for assistance.” “Van Jones is a globally recognized, award-winning pioneer in the green jobs movement. He also happens to be a super fun speaker so this will be a very ....

POPSObama Could Dump Biden for Clinton as VP in 2012 ..... of Clinton admirers, give Obama more of a pragmatic luster, and shunt the gaffe-prone Biden aside. And it would theoretically discourage Clinton, a former senator from New York, from challenging Obama in the 2012 primaries, Democratic insiders say, because as vice president she would be considered Obama's heir for 2016. Clinton would be 69 that year, the same age as Ronald Reagan when he won the presidency in 1980. As for Clinton, she has said that she doesn't plan to serve as secretary of state longer than four years, but so far she has expressed no interest in another presidential run. She was the favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 but lost to Obama after a long series of primaries and caucuses.A White House strategist attributed the speculation about Biden and Clinton to "cocktail party chatter" and said Obama is "very pleased" with Biden's job performance. http://www.usnews.com

POPSObama Prays for Civility. Gets Criticized. This clip takes a humorous spin on yesterday's event, President Obama appearing at a political 'Prayer Breakfast.' In other articles it's noted the President called for more civility in our politics (lots of luck). Finally responded to those idiots who say he's not an American citizen (good luck) and on the most serious point: Ask Uganda to not approve the death penalty for homosexuality. This 'humorous,' clip makes a point that others would try to hide: USA right wing wacko groups, under the guise of being missionaries and/or Christians, have been pushing Uganda in this direction for decades. Just like they did in several South American countries. Sometimes affiliated with the 'International Republican Institute," or groups like 'The Family,' (aka The Fellowship) that also been in the news a lot.

POPSWe Don't Need No Stinkin' Trial! A famous movie line is from a Mexican bandit who is asked for his badge (he had claimed his gang to be lawful police). "Badges!? Badges!?" the bandit says. "We don't need no stinkin' badges!" Bang. Bang. It seems we just can't afford any 'stinkin' trial,' for this accused terrorist, KSM. I mean, opponents say, What if he's found innocent? (one problem) What if he uses the trial to say something? (2nd problem) What if having a trial makes us a target? (another problem) Can we afford a trial? But he's already been in jail 8years, isn't it a little late? He's been tortured a lot, which we can't admit? Trial? We don't need no stinkin' trial. Bush tried to set up fake kangaroo court military tribunals. They failed Maybe we should just cut his tongue out, break all his fingers and encase him in an Iron Mask. The Sheikh in the Iron Mask -- like that French story. Then the mystery would be forever: Who is this guy? What did he do? Any evidence? We

POPSMister Speaker ..... Mark Steyn As to the content, I think there are several broad stylistic problems that, cumulatively, lead to a bigger one, identified by (of all people) The New York Times's Bob Herbert: Mr Obama is in danger of being perceived as someone whose rhetoric, however skillful, cannot always be trusted. Why is that? Well, look at the SOTU opening. It's eloquent, but in a cheesily generic way, as if one of his speechwriters was sent over to Barnes & Noble to pick up a copy of State of the Unions for Dummies: They have done so during periods of prosperity and tranquility. And they have done so in the midst of war and depression; at moments of great strife and great struggle. It’s tempting to look back on these moments and assume that our progress was inevitable " that America was always destined to succeed. But when the Union was turned back at Bull Run and the Allies first landed at Omaha Beach, victory was very much in doubt.

POPSClinton signals not a 2-term Sec. of State I believe she won't return or run for the Presidency. The problems are astronomical in both arenas and neither Obama or Ms. Clinton are up to the task. I think she is ready to join Bill as a *voice* on the circuit, be a fund raiser and back away from the spotlight. I know many think that's impossible for the person we know as Hillary; but she's probably done. She may even resign after the 2010 mid-terms.

POPSNow Al Qaeda sends women suicide bombers to target West Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the former British student accused of trying to detonate a bomb on a plane over Detroit on Christmas Day, told the FBI several other people trained with him in Yemen. The warning came as Britain's security threat was raised to 'severe' - the second-highest level - ahead of two London conferences on Afghanistan and Yemen. They will be attended by leading figures from 60 countries, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The threat level was raised after MI5's Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre noted an increase in so-called 'chatter' suggesting an attack was more likely. However, Home Secretary Alan Johnson said there was 'no intelligence to suggest that an attack is imminent'. Britain is also introducing 'no-fly lists' to prevent people assessed as a security threat from boarding aircraft, while direct flights between Yemen and the UK have been suspended. POPSFrom China: "The Google Farce" “The U.S. campaign for uncensored and free flow of information on an unrestricted Internet is a disguised attempt to impose its values on other cultures in the name of democracy,” the editorial reads. “The U.S. government’s ideological imposition is unacceptable and, for that reason, will not be allowed to succeed.”

POPSKudlow Should Run Against Schumer In November
Kudlow is known to have beaten an addiction to cocaine which almost derailed his career. Schumer is addicted to special interest campaign contribution and that’s a bigger problem today. Kudlow is the kind of candidate who could raise tea party money across America . Kudlow could also command the Republican and Conservative nominations and might even be able to petition his way on the ballot as the Libertarian party nominee. Kudlow was mentioned as a possible candidate against Chris Dodd last year. Kudlow owns a home in Connecticut. Chuck Schumer is a corporate whore who was whole-hog for the expansion of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and is as responsible for the sub-prime mortgage crisis as anyone in America. Now he has crowned himself the King of New York, deciding who can and cannot run for public office. More and more New Yorkers are fed up with this self-serving schmuck. POPSIs the Haiti Rescue Effort Failing? And there is a deeper fear -- a political fear. With President Aristide, the man the US considers too radical for its tastes, anxious to return, there is fear that a possible revolt against the lack of help could turn angry and political. Hillary Clinton keeps telling the Haitians that we are their friends -- but many doubt it.They know that Aristide's Lavalas party is the most popular in Haiti and wants a more profound transformation than the US wants to allow. It had been banned from taking part in scheduled elections next month, that are likely to be canceled now. Haiti's president Preval is weak and dependent on US largesse.

POPSPolitical Prescience Hurtfully Poo-Poo’d
I could be wrong because I didn’t comb the entire blogosphere, but I think the scoop for rallying Republicans nationally to support Scott Brown to become the 41st Republican senator, able to stop Obamacare with a single filibuster, belongs to Prof. William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, and Hill Buzz, the blog of a group of moderate Democratic gay men in Chicago who campaigned for McCain/Palin after the nomination was stolen from Hillary. That’s fine. Legal Insurrection and Hill Buzz have been all over this, as ConLesb notes, with hard-hitting bloggage throughout the month of December. To the extent they rallied support, they are welcome to the bragging rights. My job is not to support, rally, cheerlead or fire up anyone’s base. I just blather about what is, was and might be … though I’ll admit as a professional Tabloid American I prefer a good electoral gutter fight to a coronation. And as ConLesb notes, despite my having somehow morphed into a right-wing warmonger .....

POPSScott Brown: Obama Not Invited To This Party Some polls are showing the Senate contest far closer than any pundits expected, and Coakley in danger of losing her clear shot at the historic seat. Coakley said yesterday she hasn’t heard from the White House. “I welcome his support, but we’ve got a lot of support here in Massachusetts (and) I think he’s got a lot on his plate in Washington,” she said. Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs said yesterday that the president had no plans to visit Massachusetts, even though he realizes “there’s a lot at stake in the election.” But sources said Coakley is pushing for a Sunday event with Obama as the race remains glued to the national spotlight. “We would love to see Obama any time,” said Boston City Council President Michael Ross, a Coakley supporter who attended her event at Dorchester’s Kit Clark Senior Center yesterday. “Any time the president of the United States comes it will remind Democrats to get involved.”
