Vitamin Water?
mavathlete
by mavathlete  6-12-2009
There's nothing wrong with treating yourself to a snack. It's important to do so with eyes wide open. Vitamin waters are marketed as healthy alternatives to soda. The distinction for most brands is not nearly as clear-cut as the marketers would have you believe.

(cont.)About 1,444,920 new cases of cancer were expected to be diagnosed last year–while 559, 650 people were expected to die from the disease, according to the American Cancer Society. file under "unclear on the concept"... or maybe "corporate tools of evil"?
Lexica
by Lexica  6-13-2008
Don't eat fat-free, sugar-free, low-carb ersatz food-like products. Eat food, not too much, mostly plants. Don't take "fat-burning enzyme" pills, waste your money on a Thighmasater, or think that time on the Wii Fit will make you healthy. Walk places, climb stairs, chase your kids or grandkids or nieces & nephews around, go for a run, play basketball, or anything else that's real movement and activity. There's no substitute for the real thing, and the world would be a much poorer place if there were.

Cola - Bad for your health?
mickfinn
by mickfinn  1-24-2008
The authors of the study say more research is needed, but their findings support the long-held notion that something about cola — the phosphoric acid, for example, or the ability of cola to pull calcium from bones — seems to increase the risk of kidney stones, renal failure and other conditions affecting the kidneys. Do your favorite snacks make the grade?
sidegik
by sidegik  4-2-2007
"HEALTHIER GENERATION Do your favorite snacks make the grade? Find out today at www.healthiergeneration.org/ProductNavigator. Thanks to the Navigator, a free online tool from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, finding nutritious and low calorie snacks has never been easier. The products featured in this easy-to-use tool meet the Alliance’s School Snack Food Guidelines, so schools can ensure the snacks they serve are healthy options for students and staff. But you don’t have to be an educator to get a lesson in healthy snacking. You can create your shopping list of healthy snacks, print it, and take it with you when you purchase your snacks from your distributor or your local wholesale store."
