POPSAhmadinejad: Israel Is Doomed Ahmadinejad used an Arabic word, ismihlal, that can also be translated as destruction, death and collapse. "Nations of the region hate this criminal fabricated regime (Israel) and will uproot this fabricated regime if the smallest and shortest opportunity is given to them," Ahmadinejad said Wednesday in an address broadcast live on state television. He spoke hours after President Bush arrived in Israel for the anniversary celebrations.

Some of these sound very familiar. Such a person as this is invited to speak at our *universities* to present their ideologies and anti-Americanism...and then those who disagree with them rise up in response and protest and are called intolerant, racists, ignorant, backwards, etc... This is called sowing the seeds for our own destruction. The very freedoms that make us great are being used to bring up (and out) the very worst from within us.

POPSMcCain’s Assault On Reason: Dr. Roy W. Spencer So, here we are with bad science ready to support bad policy decisions that will lead to bad economic times ahead, and no presidential candidate who is willing to ask the hard questions. While we hate to be pandered to by politicians, in this case I can only hope that they really are pandering — that this is hot air and not prospective policy.

POPSHate Limbaugh or Limbaugh's hate! Dangerous or Laughable? (I chose both but the former rather than the latter is more direct... One Dangerous Dude!) ~~~~~~~ It was no surprise that Limbaugh would call for riots at the Democratic National Convention in Denver to embarrass the Democrats. Limbaugh -- and his fellow purveyors of hate on the airwaves -- are dangerous demagogues whom pro-democracy Americans too easily dismiss as poltroonish shills for the entrenched powers. It's a regular staple of the millionaire right-wing echo chamber to use the explicit or implicit language of violence. In fact, the entire "frame" of everyone from Sean Hannity to Bill O'Reilly to Rush Limbaugh is to convince their listeners that people who don't agree with these "pundits of patriotism" are the enemy and dangerous to America. POPSOne Bite for Me, One Giant Leap for the Chocolate Box
No one was going to obstruct the destiny of this little chocolate delight: my mouth. While it was shaped, the nut placed inside had my name on it, and so forth, untill it reached my home where I picked it out from the rest of the golden sun-balls which are probably written for members of the family, unless I get to them first that is. By the time I had reflected over this little chocolate’s epic journey, it had disappeared from my hand and it was all over really- one of the best chocolate experiences to data where I ate and simultaneously marvelled at a gift from God that had my name on it. I must admit I was tempted to go for another bite and revisit the journey in more detail, but perhaps tomorrow. I hate to over-indulge and hey, if my name is written on one of them (or even all of them), then it’s surely destined to be mine. It’s just a matter of mouth-watering time. *from the source I was in Belgium last summer, redefined chocolate for me. Gained 2 kg too =/

POPS It's The Stupid, Stupid--The Media gets a FAIL
Nevertheless, we get nonstop coverage of this man for two solid weeks from major television, radio, and newspapers. And yet the worst of the lot, television, when confronted with the fact that they were complicit in disseminating Pentagon propaganda by using retired generals as paid shills for the Iraq war effort, has less to say about it than Bill O'Reilly on the difference between a loofah and a falafel. Part of the problem is that modern news editors hate "policy," because "policy isn't news." But in times like these, it isn't hard to make a case that, yes, policy is news--but today's media is too vapid and too hard up for rapidly vanishing eyeballs to care. Four months in a row of job losses on the edge of recession calls for some sort of policy change (and the president is doing the Charleston trying to avoid saying the R-word). Gas prices are skyrocketing toward the $4/gallon mark, and two of the three presidential candidates are saying that cutting the gas tax--in effect, giv

POPS Dumb as We Wanna Be
By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN he goes on: Are you sitting down? Few Americans know it, but for almost a year now, Congress has been bickering over whether and how to renew the investment tax credit to stimulate investment in solar energy and the production tax credit to encourage investment in wind energy. The bickering has been so poisonous that when Congress passed the 2007 energy bill last December, it failed to extend any stimulus for wind and solar energy production. Oil and gas kept all their credits, but those for wind and solar have been left to expire this December. I am not making this up. At a time when we should be throwing everything into clean power innovation, we are squabbling over pennies. These credits are critical because they ensure that if oil prices slip back down again — which often happens — investments in wind and solar would still be profitable. That’s how you launch a new energy technology and help it achieve scale, so it can compete without subsidies. The

POPS Keyboards 'dirtier than a toilet' Wow! This is just dirty! I hate it when people eat at their desks... more so if they don't wash their hands after eating, or eat oily/fried stuff while typing... Just disgusting! What's interesting though, is that the study says "compared to men, on average women have three to four times the amount of germs in, on and around their work area". ! Who'd ever think that possible!? heh

POPSPlease Send More Complaints
Otherwise how will our taxpayer-funded hate police manage to keep their cozy sinecure? Happily, beginning on July 1, under Ontario's "human rights" reforms, Commissar Hall will have far greater powers to initiate prosecutions. Under the new proposals, " 'hate incident' means any act or omission, whether criminal or not, that expresses bias, prejudice, bigotry or contempt toward a vulnerable or disadvantaged community or its members." "Act or omission"? Of course. The act of not acting in an insufficiently non-hateful way can itself be hateful. Whether or not the incident is a non-incident is incidental. I quote from "Concepts Of Race And Racism And Implications For OHRC Policy" as published on the OHRC website: "The denial of racism used by so many whites in positions of authority ranging from the supervisor in a work place to the chief of Police and ministers of government must be understood for what it is: an example of White hegemonic power over those considered 'other.' POPSGut Check Time for White Americans "The Wright affair has such resonance in this campaign because Wright has shown himself to be the kind of black person that white people don't like. He brings out our prejudices. Yes, I said "our" prejudices. Part of it is Wright's ignorance and part of it is his arrogance and part of it is that he talks louder than white people would prefer and part of it is that he uses the sing-song cadence they associate with other black ministers they have grown to hate over the years such as Jesse Jackson. Obama is none of those things (OK, maybe a little arrogant at times), so Wright has been brought to the forefront as a substitute punching bag.

POPSThings Americans don't like to talk about Read the whole article, it is illuminating to say the least. I thought this passage said it best: " If you listen to a lot of conservatives, they'll tell you that the difference between them and us is that conservatives love America and liberals hate America.... They don't get it. We love America just as much as they do. But in a different Way. You see, they love America the way a 4-year-old loves her Mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad, and helping your loved one grow. Love takes attention and work and is the best thing in the world."

POPSThe fine line between our public & private lives online Here is another article about how public and private lives are no longer being separated on the web. I have discussions about this all the time with my friends and peers about the etiquette and propriety needed online, especially in a field where so many kids can find you if you are not careful. Our behavior online is so important now because, as I have recently experienced, it is so easy for my students to find me online. I have resorted to putting a lot of things "private" or "friends & family only" and am using a social networking blog site that has privacy options. I also wonder about when or if there will ever be a line between private and public life. It is disappearing. Insurance & employers are penalizing individuals who smoke AT HOME and employers are viewing individuals MySpace or Facebook pages. When does it stop? Will it? When is it viewed as encroaching on individuals rights or lives?

POPS"A Camera, 2 Kids, & A Camel" The Work of Annie Griffiths Belt "As a photographer I have learned that women really do hold up half the sky; that language isn't always necessary, but touch usually is; that all people are not alike, but they do mostly have the same hopes and fears; that judging others does great harm but listening to them enriches; that it is impossible to hate a group of people once you get to know one of them as an individual." (Annie Griffiths Belt) "A Camera, Two Kids and a Camel" is a photo memoir of her life, that discloses the secrets of a peripatetic life...revealing in often hilarious detail how she managed to juggle two children, bulky cases of camera equipment and everything needed for a nurturing family life as she traveled to far-flung destinations around the world. An award-winning photojournalist and mother of two has lived a life we only dream about...to see and share the world with your family.

POPS Obama And The Tale Of Icarus You know, I have been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ since 1992. I have known Reverend Wright for almost 20 years. The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church. They certainly don't portray accurately my values and beliefs. And if Reverend Wright thinks that that's political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn't know me very well. And based on his remarks yesterday, well, I may not know him as well as I thought, either. (transcript of Obama's response to Wright's remarks. POPSRush Limbaugh Still Disrupting Democracy!
Anyone who has read my clipmarks knows, I do not like Limbaugh. Proof of this is in several videos I had made to expose how despicable this man and all his mental crap is as he spreads lies and ignorance across our airwaves. RUSH LIMBAUGH YOUTUBE VIDEOS by thethinkingblue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k1jvS4FBlI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIxz4LURIv4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgkK5PbliHQ and this one which youtube removed. http://www.youtube.com/v/_7kXEftfAu0 But I retained the Limbaugh block-headed comments here: :http://www.thethinkingblue.com/limbaughcomments.html Why anyone would listen to this annoying windbag and BELIEVE him is hard to explain. I guess there are just too many misinformed Americans who would rather HATE than try to understand what is really going on while they are busy despising, loathing and detesting instead of LEARNING. Listening to Gushing Rush is so much easier than investigating the TRUTH and he really can rile and incense you to NO END...
