POPSA Guide to Understanding the Tactics of the Southern Poverty Law Center in the Immigration Debate It is therefore essential that we thoroughly examine and respond to the charges and the motives of those leveling the accusations. This publication is designed for the media, legislators and others who are actively involved in writing about or formulating immigration policy. Its purpose is to provide: * An overview of the unscrupulous tactics now being used in the immigration debate which distort factual reporting and limit meaningful debate. * A summary of FAIR’s 30-year record of advocacy on immigration. * An examination into the SPLC’s motives, terminology and techniques used against FAIR and others. * An objective third party analysis of the SPLC’s tactics and motivations. * Conclusions and suggestions for fair reporting and open mindedness.

POPSCarrie Prejean Goes Down. Literally! Of course, all of this should have little effect on her career. If anything it will add fuel to it with the way Americans are infatuated with hypocrites and fallen angels. Vivid Entertainment Group, which specializes in adult films, made an offer of a million dollars to Prejean back in May to make a movie for them. Seems she might be a natural. This could only raise her value in the porn market. Practice makes perfect. I'm curious as to how all the rightwing Prejean backers will spin this and find a way to blame this on everyone but Prejean. I might even turn on Fox News to check it out. With Prejean's looks and attitude, she may end up with her own show over there since credibility isn't a factor in Fox's hiring practices. And for those of you who don’t remember who actually won the Miss California Pageant, her name is Tami Ferrell from Malibu. How soon we forget those with actual morals.

POPSGOP House members call for investigation of Muslim political activity Just to underscore how extremist the House GOP caucus is, this hysteria is all based on a new book entitled "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America." That's the source which these House members are using. In fact, one of the GOP House members, Rep. Sue Myrick of North Carolina, wrote the foreword to the book. One of the two authors of that book, Dave Gaubatz, maintains this website, where he's hawking the book through Paypal. In 2006, Gaubatz created a project called "Mapping Sharia in America", the purpose of which was to create a comprehensive map of every mosque and Islamic school in the U.S. This is what he wrote: It is our task to conduct an extensive mapping of all the Islamic day schools, mosques, and other identifiable organizations in the US and to determine which ones teach or preach Islamic law, Sharib.

For the record, here are the rules of the Ogori cafe: 1. Let's treat the next person. What to treat them with? It's your choice. 2. Even if it's a group of friends or a family, please form a single-file line. Also, you can't buy twice in a row. 3. Please enjoy what you get, even if you hate it. (If you really, really hate it, let's quietly give it to another while saying, "It's my treat…") 4. Let's say "Thank You! (Gochihosama)" if you find the person with your Ogori cafe card. 5. We can't issue a receipt.

POPSObama's Gay Outreach: All Talk, No Action Well, just as I predicted, last night when he the addressed the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, the all but de facto gay auxiliary of the Democratic National Committee, the President got his “standing ovation“.* The “cheering crowd” gave the Democrat a warm welcome even as he acknowledged “some policy changes he promised on the campaign trail are not coming as quickly as they expected.“ Promises, promises, but not a plan. That’s not enough for many gay activists, but it will win over the Washington-based leadership of HRC and other gay groups, ever eager to sing the praises of a politician with a (D) after his name who says the right things to their audiences. Of course, to those activists, with highfalutin language and that (D), it really doesn’t matter what he does. Once again, it was typical Obama, lofty words with little to show for them. Sickening. Wake up gay lefties....wake up.

POPSHouse Votes To Expand Hate Crime Laws The proposed expansion would include crimes based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. It eases restrictions on federally protected activities. The FBI says there are some 8,000 hate crimes reported around the country in a year. More than half of those are motivated by racial bias. Next most frequent are crimes based on religious bias at around 18 percent and sexual orientation at 16 percent. Hate crimes occur when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her membership in a certain social group, usually defined by race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, or political affiliation. "Hate crime" generally refers to criminal acts which are seen to have been motivated by hatred of one or more of the listed conditions. Incidents may involve physical assault, damage to property, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse or insults, or offensive graffiti or letters.

POPSRacism in America? I think this quote is about as on target as any I've seen since Obama became President and the country went ballistic. It took a while for the hate to bubble up but it's come to a boil lately.

POPSTwisted Spirit of Hate and Fear Will Not Fade Away Everyone wants to be on the 11 o'clock news it seems. If police had not mis-characterized the bullying attack on a school bus, would these wannabe American Nazi bullies have had a rally that was successful for them? If local news had gotten the story correct earlier would the march had taken place. We have no shortage of looonies filled with hate and fear; we do have a shortage of newspeople who have respect for anything other than getting on first by pandering to the worst.

POPSEpic migration seen "through eyes of" antelope Photographer and biologist Joe Riis hopes to raise awareness of the animals' epic, ancient migration and to encourage action to protect it. "It's pretty incredible, because it's happening right in the middle of the United States," Riis said. "It seems like this type of stuff is long gone, and maybe most of the long migrations are. But this one is , and I think it's worth protecting."

POPSThe Blackening of the president
Obama's white support trended slowly downward throughout the summer in the weekly Gallup poll, but took another relatively large (4 point) drop between July 19 and July 26, a fiery week that saw the arrest of Skip Gates, Obama's comment that Cambridge police acted "stupidly" in that incident, followed by Obama's "recalibration" of those words. I said at the time that Obama's commenting on the Gates mess was a mistake, even if it was a completely understandable one. Replying reflexively, as a victim of racial profiling, Obama was sincere -- but in that moment, there's no denying, he got blacker to a segment of the white population. That same crazy week also featured the rise of Birtherism as represented by a screaming woman interrupting moderate GOP Rep. Mike Castle's town hall claiming Obama wasn't born in the U.S. It was a harbinger: August brought a wave of frenzied anti-Obama organizing at raucous meetings -- what a Republican fundraising group proudly labeled "town hells" -- whe

POPSThis isn't about Labor Day It's About Cute and Nasty Starlings
I love birds. Especially since moving to a rural area where you can witness firsthand, these wild creatures going about their daily tasks of survival. And they are fastidious as well as genius at endurance (we should be so canny). So when I see an article about birds I can't help but open it up to a read. As much as I enjoy these darlings who share Earth with us, there are people who have quite opposite feelings. Actually, they hate the little buggers. How can this be? Well it all boils down to money again... So much of this world's tribulations can be traced back to the almighty buck. It seems these sweet little birds can do damage to industry. Yikes, these tiny beasts are in for it now. So little starling you've been targeted. But this is one enemy of Private Enterprise that won't go down easy. I know there'll be those who will retort my adoration for these animals by telling me I'm nuts because they’re vermin and cause disease. I have a comeback on THEY CAUSE DISEASE, SO DO WE BUB!

POPSAppalling silence follows brutal crime This was a black on white crime. If it had been a white on black crime, not only would we condemn the attack, we would condemn the silence. With no evidence of any hoax, we can demand no less of African-Americans. Anything less, and blacks forfeit the moral high ground that is any minority group’s most potent weapon. We’d question the morals, character and upbringing not only of the thugs, but of the residents in the community that sheltered them. We’d demand that the good people in the neighborhood step up to stamp out bigotry. Almost as disturbing as the attack itself is the reason Milligan’s family thinks spurred the beating: He was dating a young lady who is black Original story: http://www.buffalonews.com/cityregion/story/769298.html

POPSObama Administration Sued Over Healthcare Enemies List
Nevertheless, say the two groups filing suit, the information collection effort continues under another name and is part of an "unlawful pattern and practice to collect and maintain information" on the exercise of free speech, which "continues in violation of the Privacy Act and First Amendment even if the Defendants terminate a particular information-collection component due to negative publicity." "My hate mail started shortly after the White House issued the 'fishy' request," said Kathryn Serkes, AAPS' Director of Policy and Public Affairs. "We were quite visible and vocal before then, so it doesn't seem like a coincidence. Who did they share their data with? With whom might they share it?" In the suit, the groups are demanding the White House remove all information already collected, and further, be prohibited from collecting any personal data in the future. POPSKennedy’s Death: “One Less Socialist,” “Good Riddens”
First of all, I have to admit Sarah Palin did show some class in her thoughts on the passing of Ted Kennedy. But her followers, well, that’s a different story. It is no surprise that there are people who hated everything Ted Kennedy stood for. But to express this kind of hate upon learning he died is crass and graceless. One commenter said: "Now if we could just talk God into taking Arlin Spector, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi America would be Eutopia!" Unbelievable. A person died people. Take a break, go to your corners, show some class, and then come out swinging. Is it asking for too much to expect some civility towards the family? After all he was a fellow American doing what he thought was right for this county. I hate what Bush and company did to this country but I would not wish them dead. Maybe I’m being crass for bringing it up, but I’m preparing for the hate for standing up for him, I was no big fan of this guy after what he did to Mary Jo Kopekne and got

POPSFake hate crime alert: Leftists vandalize Denver Democrat HQ; Dems smeared Obamacare foes By Michelle Malkin • August 25, 2009 Meet the hoaxer: A 24-year-old arrested this morning on suspicion of smashing 11 windows at Colorado Democratic Party headquarters tried to conceal his identity while allegedly committing the crime, according to police descriptions. Maurice Schwenkler wore a shirt over his face, a hooded sweat shirt and latex gloves before he and another man fled the scene on bicycles, police said. Schwenkler was apprehended after a short chase. The other suspect remains at large. While Schwenkler does not appear in the state’s voter registration database, a person by that name in November 2008 received $500 from a political 527 committee called Colorado Citizens Coalition for “communications,” according to campaign finance disclosures. The accountant for the 527 appears to be the same woman who handles the books for many other Democratic-leaning political committees.

POPSAfghan elections: fraud, violence, intimidation
This article, from the BBC, is a nice "objective summary." I don't know about you --- and I'm a voter -- but if there was bombs at some polling places, people were threatening to cut my finger off if I voted, and voter fraud by ruthless warlords and their cohorts was pretty much guaranteed, plus a Major Foreign Power was pulling all the strings....it would make it more difficult. Not to mention having to talk about it on forums where cynics say voting is a waste of time anyway. gosh...that's a lot to go through. But, of course, citizenbfk would get to the polls - do or die - that's a fact, jack; that's the way it is. 'Cause, voting is not a waste of time. Even the 'evildoers," and war lords gotta go through the shame of elections. Because it comes down to pushing people around with violence and guns or pushing people around with fear mongering and hate. and fearmongering and hate can be opposed with righteousness and caring...but guns can only be opposed with guns.

POPSRacism quotes “I hate racial discrimination most intensely and all its manifestations. I have fought all my life; I fight now, and will do so until the end of my days. Even although I now happen to be tried by one, whose opinion I hold in high esteem, I detest most violently the set-up that surrounds me here. It makes me feel that I am a Black man in a White man's court. This should not be I should feel perfectly at ease and at home with the assurance that I am being tried by a fellow South African, who does not regard me as an inferior, entitled to a special type of justice.” Nelson Mandela quotes (South African Statesman First democratically elected State President of South Africa (1994), “A group of white South Africans recently killed a black lawyer because he was black. POPSBritain today Iconic Britain cannot see Right and Wrong. When the moronic masses cannot see affray or assault, even when it is perpetrated on them, then there is little to add. Steve Gerrard will not be donating to Victims of Crime as the mindless masses laud his excellent use of his fists against a man already being attacked by his friends. We get only what we seek... Rhodesia was beautiful. Zimbabwe is a ruin near Fort Victoria.

POPSMore Race-based policies from the Obama administration
His entrance into the dust-up between a Massachusetts police officer and Dr. Henry Gates proves that as far as our President is concerned, if you're white, you're not right. He played the race-card in a grand Presidential trump, accusing a white cop of violating a black man's rights. He refused to even consider that his friend, the esteemed doctor, behaved like a titty baby. The Administration's own numbers show that rural America is a diverse community. There is no need for Government intervention. Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center acknowledges that the rise in "hate" groups is astounding, in the last five years, we’ve seen a 30% increase in the number of hate groups. There you have it. All those years of Government mandated affirmative action programs have failed. If the goal was to improve racial relations, they missed it by a country mile. Further proof that the last thing the rural community needs is a bunch of liberal urbanites dictating how we live.

POPSJust Be Honest About Your Bigotry, OK? But neither story has proffered that up. So how do these commenters know the couples in question are illegal immigrants? Well, by their last names, of course. Santiago, Rocha and Barron must be indicative of the 100% ne'er-do-wells that crawl under or over a fence in the dark, dark night to invade the soil of the U.S., fostering hate in their hearts and evil in their veins, ready to do horribly heinous crimes at a moment's notice. According to 2007 data from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, 21.7 percent of maltreated children nationwide are from African-American families; 20.8 percent are from hispanic families; and 46.1 percent are from white families. So really, in the U.S., being from a white family nearly doubles your chances of being maltreated or abused.

POPSTrial of Anti-Catholic Cult Leader In addition to his alleged sexual proclivities, Alamo frequently denigrated Catholics. He has blamed them for “every filthy thing,” including communism, Nazism, the two world wars, the Jonestown massacre, drugs, prostitution and pornography. He also spewed hatred toward gays, referring in a defense of polygamy to “these bastards, these homosexual Vaticanites, they condone homosexuals and they condemn marriage.” The SPLC lists his Tony Alamo Christian Ministries as a hate group. Alamo’s headquarters in Fouke, Ark., was raided last fall by dozens of federal and state law enforcement agents searching for evidence of child abuse. He was arrested on Sept. 25 at an Arizona motel. It’s not the first time he’s faced significant jail time: Alamo was convicted on tax evasion charges in 1994 and served four years of a six-year prison sentence.

POPS"ISNA Rejects All Expressions of Racism and Bigotry" Safi is coy about specifics, but here they are: the Investigative Project on Terrorism published a report yesterday, "'Mainstream' Islamist Convention Features Hate Speech and Hezbollah Defense" in which it broke the news that the conference "featured speakers spewing raw anti-Semitism, homophobic rhetoric and defense of the terrorist group Hezbollah." It then provides details on several speakers but zeroes in on Warith Deen Umar, the former head of the New York state prison chaplain program who lost his job after the Wall Street Journal exposed his pro-bin Ladin views in front-page story in February 2003. Umar appeared at ISNA on July 5 to promote a new book, Jews for Salaam: The Straight Path to Global Peace, in the context of a "Meet The Author" program. In the course of it, he attacked "unholy Jews" such as Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, two of President Obama's top aides, by name as part of a conspiracy "to control the world."
