POPSLiz Cheney emerges, the left's feeding frenzy (and "tolerance"), verging on abject panic So Liz Cheney, just like Palin, unnerves and upsets the Left, not simply because she might run for something and win, and not only because she is one of the most effective conservative spokeswomen on national security. She threatens their claim to the moral high ground and their assertion that women voters belong to the Left. That’s reason enough to send them into fits of rage. And you can bet they’re only getting warmed up. So predictable. Saw this coming a mile away. It's almost boring watching the left piss their pants again over a woman who happens to be a conservative. Maybe we can expect David Letterman to crack a rape joke about Liz and her family, on behalf of the "tolerant" left. Sad. POPSPalin's Revenge: Who's Laughing Now?
Palin did not seem to worry a bit about how her decision would look to the pundit class as she strode to the microphones and confidently gave a shocking announcement that she knew would bring down a hell storm of self-important derision. She did not flinch. She made her decision, announced it, and went about making it work for all involved. And it has. It has worked for the state of Alaska, where their small government is no longer burdened by over the top media scrutiny and an endless string of nuisance legal actions. Alaska can get back to being Alaska, and the state is governed by a man who shares Palin's vision for the state without having one of the biggest media targets in the history of the country painted on his back. What? You don't know his name? Good. Alaskans probably like it that way. And the resignation has certainly worked for Palin's family and the former governor herself no doubt. They no longer have the targets painted on their backs either.

POPSHansbrough: Best Never to Make NBA? Pretty impressive win for the NC last night, and another gutsy performance by Hansbrough - statistically one of the greatest NCAA players of all time. Many experts have given Hansbrough the "great college player" tag. What they mean of course, is that he'll never make it in the pros. Unfortunately, the NBA hardwood is littered with the dashed hopes of big time collegiate heroes who never sniffed the success they had at the college level. Its a long list: Mateen Cleaves, Miles Simon, Gerry McNamara, Ed O'Bannon etc. I'm wondering if he can make it, and hope he does. What do you think? If you are curious about some other college greats who never quite made it passed their "one shining moment" check out this "where are they now" list: http://tinyurl.com/cjfoft

POPSBravo Sea Shepherd for a gutsy effort All this at a time when Governments (and Greenpeace!) are sitting on their asses enjoying Christmas festivities, no doubt! It is time for more to support Sea Shepherd in their valiant efforts.

POPSOriana Fallaci Square! I am so chuffed, I just adored Oriana. She was such a gutsy woman, brilliant and gorgeous to boot. I just love hearing about how she would catch some of the world's most famous men right off guard while she interviewed them, hehe. Her life inspires me in many ways, and I am very happy she is being remembered by her country in this way :) Bravo Italy!

POPSUbuntu Ultimate 1.7 This video shows a few more examples of why Linux, Ubuntu, and Ubuntu Ultimate are becoming more popular. Linux is becoming more user friendly all of the time, with free Open Source programs designed and improved by the users. built by everyday users who know what they're looking for. Ubuntu Ultimate 1.7 was designed by Thee Mahn, but I have also included some links to The Ubuntu community home site where some of the many problems that are encountered by 'newbies ' such as myself, are solved with detailed explanations. Many questions have already been answered with new users striking the same glitches, but there is never any harm asking a new question. There will no doubt be someone else with the same problem. A 2.3 GB ultimate 1.7 DVD can be downloaded for free from a number of mirrors, or FTP, and HTTP sources, but there are also low priced DVD's available which can save time. One example was at OSdisc.com for about $6 but shop around

POPSLinux Mint - The Elegant Ubuntu
Open Source, Linux Mint is an offshoot of the Ubuntu Base Distribution. The operating system can be customised with a package repository that holds over 23000 programs, inluding source codes. It can be installed alongside windows, There is the need to learn some operating commands, but its handy to find out whats going on behind the screen. I didn't have a clue about Linux a few months ago, but the hardest thing was starting. I installed Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, and started to play with some other variants including Ultimate, Ultimate Gamer, and Mint. I was having wso much fun, I burned out my RAM just after Christmas, (It was a Hot Day.) I've found answers to problems through the support communities, and I don't need to look for Programs or applications. The next base Upgrade will be named 8.04 Hardy Heron, and there is an upgrade faculity in the update manager. I thought I'd use Mint as an example . If I'm going to bring a Gutsty Gibbon to clipmarks I want it to be wearing a suit
