Tea Party Movement's New Target :The GOP

They feel they were had by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), who urged them to stomach earmarks for the good of the party; by George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, who urged them to stomach a massive expansion of education and Medicare for the good of the party; and by the rest of the Washington gang that collaborated in the largest expansion of government in their lifetime for the good of the party. Erick Erickson, founder and editor of the conservative RedState blog, said grass-roots activists are done listening. “Republicans are going to have to come our way,” he said, before going on to trash NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele for backing Scozzafava. Their “level of disingenuousness ... is disgusting,” Erickson said. His influential blog is now calling for Sessions to get the boot from the NRCC as a penalty for mishandling the race. Erickson’s bombast may seem overboard, but it captures the dep

Spin Doctors for Obamacare
merrie
by merrie  10-7-2009    1
The White House event was organized in conjunction with DFA and Organizing for America, Obama’s campaign outfit. OFA and DFA are behind a massive new Obamacare ad campaign, letter-writing campaign, and doctor recruitment campaign. The supposedly “grass-roots,” non-profit DFA is a spin-off of Doctors for Obama, a 2008 campaign arm that aggressively pushed the Democrats’ government health care takeover. DFA claims to have thousands of members with a “variety of backgrounds.” But there’s little diversity in their views on socialized medicine (98 percent want a taxpayer-funded public insurance option) " or in their political contributions. DFA president and co-founder Dr. Vivek Murthy, an internal medicine physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, served as a member of the Obama Health Policy Advisory Committee and the Obama New England Steering Committee during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Open Letter From Alex Jones to Glenn Beck
davboz
by davboz   9-17-2009    2
My own reactions to the Beck Boycott were to battle back. Digging a little deeper, much of this letter coincides with questions I had. As in: ~ "Some of the health reform resistance seems so extreme (death panels) it may have been sprouted by the radical left to drown out serious resistance and questions." That said, I have appreciated Beck pointing in certain directions (history of "progressive movement", etc.) in which I can head off on my own to educate myself on wider ideas. And for calling out the most radical in the current administration, as well. But then, neither am I so sure about all that Alex Jones purports to be the "truth". I sure do know the truth lies in that general direction as opposed to the socialized state or dominant governments.

Some Blacks Now Have Doubts About Obama
billpar
by billpar  9-14-2009    1
Almost a third of blacks consider themselves conservative according to a Pew Research Center report.. Even a star like Bill Cosby incurred the wrath of the black establishment when he started talking about black families and personal responsibility. As result, he backed off and toned down his message. Recall during the campaign, candidate Obama ruffled Jesse Jackson's feathers when he spoke about personal responsibility among black males. An inadvertently "on" microphone picked up Jackson saying that he wanted to castrate Obama (not exactly in that language). these folks have always been inclined to be quiet because of the social pressures and intimidation. But this is changing. Despite slurs, intimidation, and widely reported physical attacks from union thugs, a few brave black souls have showed up at tea party protest rallies.

and it has nothing to do with the color of the president’s skin. Claiming to bring a “new kind of politics” to Washington, the only thing “new” was just how far off the ethical scale Team Obama has conducted itself. While asserting the administration would be “transparent” and frustrate the status quo of special interests and lobbyists, Obama and his cohorts have systematically cut backroom deals with every imaginable special interest; drug companies, auto unions, and doctors all enjoyed “favors” worth billions of dollars. Then, when faced with a real grass-roots movement, Obama, his supporters, the mainstream media, and the leaders of his party went to extremes in painting the country’s citizens as “Nazis,” “Brown Shirts,” “un-American,” and “astroturfers.” Claiming average citizens were a “mob” that was doing the bidding of his political opponents, Obama, et. al., labeled upset Americans as unhinged racists and more than implied they were implied they were . . .

Axelrod’s Profits: Uh, Who’s on the Take From the Drug Lobby Again?!?!

by merrie  8-20-2009    2
Two firms that received $343.3 million to handle advertising for Barack Obama’s White House run last year have profited from his top priority as president by taking on his push for health-care overhaul. One is AKPD Message and Media, the Chicago-based firm headed by David Axelrod until he left last Dec. 31 to serve as a senior adviser to the president. Axelrod was Obama’s top campaign strategist and is now helping sell the health-care plan. The other firm is Washington-based GMMB Campaign Group, where partner Jim Margolis was also an Obama strategist. This year, AKPD and GMMB received $12 million in advertising business from Healthy Economy Now, a coalition that includes the Washington-based Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America, known as PhRMA, that is seeking to build support for a health-care overhaul, said the coalition’s spokesman, Jeremy Van Ess. You won’t be surprised to learn that the HEN coalition also includes left-wing Families USA, the sellouts . . .

Obama Caught By Surprise

"We've gotten to this point where health care on the left is determined by the breadth of the public option. I don't understand how that has become the measure of whether what we achieve is health-care reform." "It's a mystifying thing," he added. "We're forgetting why we are in this." Another top aide expressed chagrin that a single element in the president's sprawling health-care initiative has become a litmus test for whether the administration is serious about the issue. "It took on a life of its own," he said. In search of new momentum, Obama plans to discuss the matter Thursday with thousands of his most loyal supporters in a nationwide "strategy call" hosted by Organizing for America, a grass-roots arm of the Democratic National Committee. He is likely to repeat what he and his top surrogates have said for months: that he will not "draw a line in the sand" about the inclusion of a public plan and that no one provision is a "deal breaker" . . .

Sorry Snobs: Townhall Rage IS Real Democracy
merrie
by merrie  8-14-2009    1
Then, public opinion intervened. Obama is now on the wrong side of a genuine grass-roots revolt by people who feel ignored by everyone who is supposed to be representing them. Consider the AARP. It has all but endorsed a plan to slash several hundred billion dollars over 10 years from Medicare. It is providing cover for the creation of a new system that, if it ever succeeds in "bending the cost curve," will have to scrimp on expensive end-of-life care. The AARP is overwhelmingly favorable to a plan opposed by the elderly more than any other age group. Who is the more authentic voice of seniors -- the AARP playing along with its Democratic allies, or the elderly at town-hall meetings wondering what the Medicare cuts will mean for them? The inside-Washington players are easily co-opted and cowed. The American Medical Association came out in opposition to a public option in June, and then -- after a stern talking-to by Washington's political barons -- immediately backtracked.

NBC holds back nothing in their support for Obama's position. In an article under the header "News/Politics" they ran this column, which calls the folks speaking at town hall meetings "fake" "angry" and "comical." That was just the first paragraph. The column later calls them "infamous" "yokels" and "astro-turfing wing-nuts." Again, this is under the heading "news." MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell has in interesting way of supporting Obama. While not directly questioning the sincerity of protesting Americans as does the President, Mitchell claims they "just don't know what's good for them." Not that Andrea's an elitist or anything.
