Glenn Beck Compares Derailing Health Care To Preparing For 9/11

HERE IS A TRANSCRIPT OF BECK: Ten years ago, I could have shouted every single day about Osama bin Laden and his wacky crazy threats to kill Americans in New York and nobody would have been willing to stand in line two hours while some security officer made grandma take her shoes off. No one would have done it. But don't you see. While the government is still not willing to do these things, today America is different. America has changed. Washington, we're not going to let you get away with it anymore. Look, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Conservatives are awake. 9/12ers are willing to do the hard things. We know what this means! We're taking time out of our busy lives, taking time away from their families, they're attending town hall meetings. Do you think they want to do that? They are calling their representatives. How many times do we have to be yelled at by your people in Washington? They are reading 2,000-page healthcare bills on the weekend. The 9

GOP member shoots target with Democratic opponent's initials

More: Many of the targets were basic silhouettes, though others were figures wearing traditional Arab head scarves, called kaffiyeh, and holding rocket-propelled grenades. Napolitano said the faces of those figures appeared to be white, though he understood why they would be assumed to be Arabs. He said critics of the event are simply angry that a Republican minority continues to exist in such an overwhelmingly Democratic area. "I absolutely have no regrets. I don't care what the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee or any of them say — I know that they're offended by the simple fact that we're here and we won't go away and we won't be quiet," he said. "For the Democrats, who are supposed to be the party of minority rights, they're not being very sensitive to our rights." These people live in bizarro backwards-world, I swear.

More: This particular frittata got wrapped up and taken to Seward Park for a dinner picnic, which is almost as good an idea as Clean Out the Fridge Frittata. Imagine a dinner party where you invite all the interesting people you don’t see nearly enough, but with the added benefit of not having to clean your house. It’s genius, I tell you. Throw in some blankets, some grapes, salad, bread, cheese, a bottle of wine, and cookies or cupcakes (or in our case, both!) and you have the makings of a very fine evening indeed. IMG_1674 As an extra bonus, when at last it gets dark and you have to pull yourself away from the park and your friends, you’ll have a much cleaner fridge to come home to. I'm my world, that's never a bad thing.

On Wednesday, church spokeswoman Shirley Phelps-Roper said the rallies were not anti-Jewish or anti-gay. 'How about we call it an ‘Obey your God’ rally?' she said. 'You Jews and gays have got to put away your false gods, your idols and your filthy way of life.' She added that 'God hates the disobedient.' ... 'We picked these weekends because these are the high holidays,' she said. 'You Jews broke the covenant with God. The beast is going to bring the nations to march upon Jerusalem. How to recognize an economic bubble
Lexica
by Lexica  8-26-2009
More: See, here's the thing. Once people start making "guaranteed" returns on investment…the last thing they want to hear is that what they're doing is participating in a form of the long Con. They believe that earning return on investment above the inflation rate at no risk is their God-given constitutional right as American investors…and they will always scream bloody murder when anyone "infringes" on that "right," even after the nay-sayers were proven right the last time. And, well, this is a democracy. People who are deeply invested in a fraudulent investment bubble get to vote, too. If one isn't stopped before it reaches half or more of the voters, half or more of the voters will always and consistently demand that they get given their punchbowl back, demand that the party go on… Unless, of course, we start demanding that our Fed Chairmen be people who know to stop that kind of thing… But where on Earth would we find one of those, let alone an uninterrupted string of them?

But as Phillip Klein indicates: The liberal effort to discredit American citizens who are expressing their views on an issue of vital importance is completely without merit, but it is instructive. It tells us that liberals know that despite their tremendous advantages in terms of resources and power in Washington, they are losing the health care messaging war. It’s becoming clear that Americans are not ready for a government takeover of the health care system, and they aren’t going to sit by idly while Democrats ram it down their throats. Congressman Doggett Urges Return to Fiscal Responsibility Official Government website On the House floor, I urged my colleagues to support the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act. This bill is an important step to restore the kind of fiscal discipline abandoned in 2002. About Compassionate Conservatism
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  6-19-2009    2
I know Bush was crazy with the spending, but that’s not really an excuse for Obama to airdrop gasoline on a wildfire. The conservative blogosphere really should start a fundraiser to buy everyone at Daily Kos helmets to keep them from hurting themselves. That’s compassionate conservatism right there. In Africa, newborn sons are named after George W. Bush. Yet his legacy to this country is the election of a black man — whose father was a true son of Africa. Bush saved over a million lives in Africa from HIV related illnesses. If that kind of compassion is "a contradiction in terms," or troubling, perhaps the bar is set too high.

Comics, Magicians, and Mimes, oh my!
Jorjor
by Jorjor  4-24-2009    2
From the Patriot-News Editorial: Gov. Ed Rendell is trying to do his part to aid the citizens of the commonwealth. His latest plan is to use about $15 million from the federal stimulus funds pouring into the state to try and change the mood of Pennsylvanians. The Patriot-News has learned that the money will be spent to hire clowns, mimes, magicians, street performers and comedians (nothing blue) who will be dispatched to malls, fairs and festivals across the state to boost morale. The merriment will be conducted through a new Headquarters of Economic and Emotive Efforts, or HEEE. So the next time you go to the Colonial Park Mall, look for the guy juggling bowling pins outside the Sears store, but if you don't catch him, we at least hope reading this will make you chuckle. After all, it is April Fool's Day. See more in Editorials

Top Republican: Stem Cells a 'Distraction'
Wisco
by Wisco  3-8-2009    3
A couple of points here. First, the ban on federal funding embryonic stem cell research was an executive order -- it'll take no time to reverse. The time it'll take away from focusing on the economy is roughly equal to the time Cantor will take for lunch Monday. Second, how powerless has the evangelical right become that a top Republican can basically say, "Stem cell research? Pffft! Who cares about that?" It wasn't that long ago that Republicans were saying that the research was pretty much equal to a second Holocaust. Apparently, the Republican party no longer feels the need to kiss up to the religious right.

She's not going away. The republican party has to be pretty desperate to hang on to her as their best hope for a future run at the presidency. Despite all of her short-comings as a viable candidate they tout her 'attractiveness' and 'ability to give a great speech' as selling points. These are very shallow foundations to hedge your bet on. Personally, I don't see it.

Allies Of Palestinians See A Friend In Barack Obama
merrie
by merrie  10-29-2008    2
And yet the warm embrace Obama gave to Khalidi, and words like those at the professor's going-away party, have left some Palestinian American leaders believing that Obama is more receptive to their viewpoint than he is willing to say. Among other community events, Obama in 1998 attended a speech by Edward Said, the late Columbia University professor and a leading intellectual in the Palestinian movement. According to a news account of the speech, Said called that day for a nonviolent campaign "against settlements, against Israeli apartheid." The use of such language to describe Israel's policies has drawn vehement objection from Israel's defenders in the United States. A photo on the pro-Palestinian website the Electronic Intifada shows Obama and his wife, Michelle, engaged in conversation at the dinner table with Said, and later listening to Said's keynote address.

P.S. Don't be too surprised if McCain and Palin "win" next week. No matter how unlikely the outcome, the US news media stands ready to pump out a plausible "cover story" to explain the results. - Brasscheck I'll bet they do! Be forewarned. We all know it happened the last two elections and it could very well happen again. In fact, I think it's highly likely, they'll try. They've had eight years to rig the setup even more and I do not see the republicans having any intentions of playing fair, as their campaigning methods and the last eight years have shown. If it should happen, don't let them get away with it. Fool you once, shame on them, fool you twice...okay, there's shame enough to go around.... but three times?? You're either a democratic republic. Or you're not. It's that simple.

Palin's Gone Wild: "Rogue Diva" vs McCain Advisers

I knew this would happen. She has been handled, and that is something her history shows she does not like. Sarah is impossible to tame. McCain has a problem, and Sarah appears to be out for (no surprise here), Sarah. McCain's first crisis is his own pick for VP. This blog covers it well, along with CNN. Now read how this one adviser hauls off and knocks Palin right in the chops: "She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. "Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom." WOW...THIS ADVISER IS RIGHT! If anyone can read her history and character, this McCain adviser just hit the proverbial nail on the head. THIS IS THE REAL SARAH PALIN, WHO HAS JUST BEEN VETTED.

Sarah Palin, a Friend of Mine

Her rapid rise in politics is a direct result of her unwavering moral compass. Sarah makes her decisions based on one criterion: what’s the right thing to do? In 2003, Gov. Frank Murkowski offered her an appointment to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. (I advised her not to take the position. She ignored my advice, and took the job anyway.) Shortly after taking her seat on the commission, she noticed that one of her fellow commissioners, Randy Reudrich, was doing political business on state time. Reudrich was (and still is) chairman of the state Republican party. Randy controls the flow of money to Republican candidates. Once a year all political appointees in Alaska are required to sign a conflict of interest statement. Part of the statement requires commissioners to report any violation by their colleagues. Sarah felt she had no choice but to tell the truth about Reudrich’s abuses, even though she would be turning in a fellow Republican. In the days following her all

When Barack's Berserkers Lost The Plot
merrie
by merrie  9-7-2008
'I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion,' she said as she deftly detached journalists from their readers and viewers. 'I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country.' In Britain, the most snobbish attacks on Margaret Thatcher did not come from aristocrats but from the communist historian Eric Hobsbawm, who opined that Thatcherism was the 'anarchism of the lower middle classes'. George Osborne, of the supposedly compassionate Conservative party, revealed himself to be a playground bully when he derided Gordon Brown for being 'faintly autistic'. In an age when politics is choreographed, voters watch out for the moments when the public-relations facade breaks down and venom pours through the cracks. Their judgment is rarely favourable when it does. Obama knows it. He was warning American liberals to stay away from the Palin family. He understands better than his supporters that it is not a politician's enemies who lose elections, but his friends.

But there may be more than busy schedules involved in some Democrats' reluctance to be associated with Sen. Obama. eing an Obama cheerleader may not be an asset," Mr. Gonzales said. In Georgia, Democrat Jim Marshall represents a solidly Republican rural district and typically neither endorses his party's candidate nor attends its conventions. Sen. Obama's coattails could be helpful to challenger Jim Himes in the Democratic-leaning Greenwich, Conn., district represented by Christopher Shays, a Republican. Political oddsmakers call the race a toss-up. Among the most vulnerable are 26 freshman Democrats and one freshman Republican. A few of those Democrats facing tough races already have signaled their ambivalence toward Sen. Obama, the Democratic candidate.
