Biden and COPS (IACP program) Communitarian
AxXiom
by AxXiom  10-10-2009
Wonder why the "COPS" have gone hog-wild? Our police force is beyond federalized. Pictyure them with blue helmets and it begins to make a lot more sense. "During debates, in interviews and in his campaign literature, Biden contends he was crucial to the crime decline because he sponsored legislation in 1994 creating the Community Oriented Policing Services, or COPS, program that was designed to put 100,000 more sworn officers on the streets through 2001." http://www.sptimes.com/2007/11/05/Worldandnation/Biden_stretches_COPS_.shtml A review of the COPS-funded evaluation by the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO, later renamed the Government Accountability Office) severely criticized the authors’ methodology and concluded: We cannot agree…that their 2001 study shows that some COPS grants (hiring and innovative) significantly reduced crime because, among other things, important variables were omitted from their analyses, the analytic models were misspecified, and the sample

Obama will cut border patrol on US-Mexican border
pkronfield
by pkronfield  9-25-2009    1
Do I see a pattern here? Obama continues to fail to protect our border... moreso, he decreases that protection. Illegal Jordanian tries to blow up building in Dallas. Obama is trying to destroy our economy. Obama is trying to disarm our country of our nuclear force. An al Qaeda operative couldn't do a better job of bringing us to our knees. Obama is a trojan horse.

U.S. Government Nervous About Stimulus Fraud, Scams

Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He described the individuals as con artists and hucksters. "The commission is committed to using its law enforcement authority aggressively to bring these schemes to a halt, and to continue deploying public alerts and educational materials," Leibowitz said. The FTC cannot criminally prosecute scam artists, such as a telemarketing outfit that he said told Americans they were eligible for $25,000 grants and offered to sell them a $59 book on writing grants, the chairman said, but the agency does refer the cases to state attorneys general, he said. But some legislators questioned if enough was being done. "These funds must be disbursed quickly," said Maine Senator Susan Collins The Government Accountability Office, a federal watchdog, told the panel it is worried the auditing process the federal government requires states to use for stimulus-related programs may not catch misspending.

Over $2 billion on 5,547 bike paths and pedestrian walkways, including $878,000 for a pedestrian and bicycle bridge for a Minnesota town of 847. An additional $2 million in federal stimulus funds for a bike lane along a deteriorating road in Pennsylvania, where exasperated local officials say the road is so bad they may be forced to drive on the bike path instead. $121 million for 63 ferry projects and ferry terminal facilities, including $1.6 million for a ferry boat program in Oklahoma that features Saturday morning cartoon cruises with Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote on the ferry’s flat screen T.V.; $84 million for 398 pedestrian and bicyclist safety projects, including a brochure that encourages bicyclists to “Make eye contact, smile, or wave to communicate with motorists. Courtesy and predictability are a key to safe cycling”; $3.1 million in federal stimulus funds to make a historic canal boat a permanent floating museum in New York, in addition to

Six Indictments Against Bottled Water

For years, advocacy groups have been raising concerns about bottled water: Not only do bottles end up littering the landscape, and not only are those plastic bottles derived from fossil fuels, but they also may leach chemicals into water and the quality of the water is not stringently monitored.

Bomb parts smuggled into 10 federal buildings during test In a videotape obtained by CNN, a covert GAO inspector places a bag containing bomb components on an X-ray machine conveyor belt and then walks through a magnetometer at an unidentified federal building. Unlike some covert tests that use simulated explosives, the GAO used actual bomb components in the test and publicly available information "to identify a type of device that a terrorist could use" to damage a building. Watch undercover agent smuggle bomb "The (improvised explosive device) was made up of two parts -- a liquid explosive and a low-yield detonator -- and included a variety of materials not typically brought into a federal facility by an employee or the public," the report says. Investigators obtained the components at local stores and over the Internet for less than $150, the report says. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/07/federal.buildings.security/index.html#cnnSTCVideo

Great, thanks for raising our stress levels and informing the terrorist. Oh, and great work to all you ‘guardians’ of our ‘safety’ and ‘security’! Great work! The GAO also released a photograph of a guard asleep at his post and detailed an instance in which a woman placed an infant in a carrier on an X-ray machine while retrieving identification. Because the guard was not paying attention and the machine's safety features had been disabled, the infant was sent through the X-ray machine, according to the report. The FPS dismissed the guard, who, as a result, sued the agency for failing to provide X-ray training. FPS lost the suit because it could not prove that the guard had been trained, the report says. Un- freaking-believable! Are we Americans destined to be the laughing stock of the world?
