POPSThe Rip-Off Cellphone Industry Apple with its iPhone have shown us that that wireless industry is not about phones anymore but web communication and even web existence. When you can navigate with your phone, watch news and podcasts, read any newspaper or book right away, check current weather condition and even your own weight and overall health, stocks, bank accounts and e-mails from any domain, make pretty decent pictures and even movies, listen your favorite songs and movies on the go along with countless other unimaginable possibilities - our relations with our carriers must be honest and transparent. What's the point to cheat in digital era? To become mockery again and again? Besides off respondents in class-action suits?

POPSWriter's Digest 101 Best Sites Awards for 2008 There was NO way I was going to try and clip all of these sites but they are ALL worthwhile to any beginning writer or even a journeyman writer who has been out of the game for a while. I did not even go through the entire list but chose bits and pieces from the first half or so. Many say that there is no way that a writer can be discovered or get free advice. Here is some free advice. Enter Contests. Enter EVERY Contest you are eligible for. Wjen you look on the list and see the Horror Writer's Association link (Horror.org) I want you to know that this last Halloween, I found out just a half-hour before the deadline that a contest was running. I found an old story, dusted it off and entered it with 15 minutes to spare. I won. 1st Prize. My story was eventually printed in Rue Morgue magazine and now I am writing for a publisher under contract! Who'd a thunk it?

POPSer, uh, I mean, well...it is like this Soaring rhetoric, indeed. Finally, channeling Bill Clinton’s “is-is” parsing, Obama attempted to argue that his dubious veep selection committee members don’t really “work” for him: “They’re performing that job well. It’s a volunteer, unpaid position. And they’re giving me information, and I will then exercise judgment in terms of who I want to select as a vice presidential candidate. So these aren’t folks who are working for me, they’re not people I have assigned to a particular job in a future administration.” There are only so many gaffes, missteps, mistakes, flubs, and self-delusional statements one can make before serial naivete becomes endemic stupidity. Obama has reached the point of no return.

POPSProof Gas Prices are Manipulated; Gas Prices do not Follow Oil I was researching this since I observed that the price of oil (per barrel crude) has gone way beyond previous records, yet gas prices have not followed. My hypothesis was that for some motive (probably political) Big Oil companies were HOLDING DOWN their prices, even reducing their own margins. I was right. Look at this. Now they will only play this game for so long, until they get what they want, or if political pressures from the "powers that be" (war drives up crude prices; public forgets about war if gas prices are good) permit them to. We could be paying $4 per gallon within a year if the crude prices breaks $100/barrel. But the 2008 Primaries will keep them down for awhile, until "their candidates" become (s)elected.
