POPSYour Babies Are Killing Our Planet!
Monday, October 26, 2009 Moonbattery in the U.K: "The worst thing that you or I can do for the planet is to have children" From the U.K. Guardian: Fewer British babies would mean a fairer planet. The worst thing that you or I can do for the planet is to have children. If they behave as the average person in the rich world does now, they will emit some 11 tonnes of CO every year of their lives. In their turn, they are likely to have more carbon-emitting children who will make an even bigger mess. If Britain is to meet the government's target of an 80% reduction in our emissions by 2050, we need to start reversing our rising rate of population growth immediately. And if that makes sense, why not start cutting population everywhere? Are condoms not the greenest technology of all? Actually, if you ask a true ghoul, it would be abortion, not condoms. In fact, scratch abortion, just cull all humans without discriminating based on anything other than productivity

POPS Why They Loved Him, With An Asterisk and reinstate the gubernatorial appointment power they took away at his behest when a Republican would have been wielding it. Nothing on whether she’ll run in the special election, though. Her husband had also indicated that whoever holds the temporary appointment shouldn’t be allowed to run in January. Not that he has any say in it. Riehl notices some others who were left out of Greenwald’s peerage. Previously, in dynastic news: Legacy … Why they loved him, with an asterisk. Dems in Mourning … The depths of Harry Reid’s grief, plus some hurtful yet tastefully restrained meanspiritedness. * Someone please remind me why some guy’s death means we have to get saddled with something he never managed to sell in life. via Herald. Meanwhile, Surber notes that something else might pass now that the great man is gone. Cape Cod’s wind power initiative.

POPS Dems win approval of health bill in committee Friday night Government involvement doesn’t accommodate certain things. Like errors. Or common sense. And that’s the real irony of liberals and their desire for government to “help.” Liberals say that they truly care about people. Or snail darters. Or baby seals. Or Gaia. And they want to use the government to make it all better. Like the government is your mommy taking care of your skint knee. That’s why the idea to let government run things — car companies, banks, health care — is a bad idea. Your mommy cares. Government regulations don’t care.

POPSLovelock---The Dark Side of Climate Change: It's Already Too Late Please read the article--it might inform you as to the real seriousness of human civilization being destroyed. My instincts and well- informed brain tell meDr. Lovelock is right....he's been watching this from the beginning,,, After reading his book, "Revenge of Gaia", I wondered how people would react--so far, we have foot-draggin-weak-assed legislation, some watered down non-binding crap from the G-8 countries----it's already too late for PEOPLE to save our selves from a huge die off as Gaia shrugs off the human virus. By the end of this century we may lose several billion of the human species and unfortunately many other flora and fauna due to human greed and ignorance. SERIOUSLY-- we are fuckin' doomed, folks. Read all about it.

POPSClimate Change: It's Already Too Late “There is no tipping point, just a slope that gets ever steeper,” writes Lovelock. “Because of the rapidity of the Earth’s change, we will need to respond more like the inhabitants of a city threatened by a flood. When they see the unstoppable rise of water, their only option is to escape to higher ground. We have to make our lifeboats seaworthy now stop pretending there is any way back to that lush, comfortable, and beautiful Earth we left behind sometime in the 20th century.” Dr. James Lovelock Warns the World: Enjoy it While You Can

POPSGaia's evil twin: Is life its own worst enemy? Here is a wrenching change of perspective! Life keeps upsetting its own apple cart, the Medean trap. We humans are just part of this self-destructive life force, yet we are aware of it. Like everything else, planets live and die.

POPSGaia's evil twin: Is life its own worst enemy? Recent interesting research shows that life on earth may have distinct suicidal inclinations. Human destruction of the environment is but the most recent episode. If true it has interesting implication on forming of exobiological theories, and the evolution of civilizations outside our precious planet.

POPSAl Gore, Climate Change Coward? You'd think if Gore and the other Gaia worshipers were right and the anti-AGW crowd are nothing but flat earthers, they'd welcome the opportunity to make them look like idiots on such a big stage.

POPSPoverty Is The Answer - Environmentalism But you can bet that he and his co-believers would strive mightily to stifle development in now destitute areas of the world--dooming perhaps billions of people to lives of continued squalor, disease, and lower life expectancies. More to the point of what we discuss here at SHS, human beings are a logical species: We take our ideas where they lead! (Thus, once Americans accepted the verity of Jefferson's "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal..."it doomed slavery, because servitude and equality are incompatible.) For the same reason, once we accept the fundamental premise of the piece--that we must sacrifice human prosperity to "save the planet"--the misanthropic ideology of Deep Ecology--humans as a viral infection afflicting Gaia--with radical depopulation as the cure--consider the genocidal implications--become a logical next step

POPSTaking A Stand On "Global Warming" Protest ~ Bring Snow Shovels
of the British Antarctic Survey report the identification of a layer of volcanic ash and glass shards frozen within an ice sheet in western Antarctica. For Antarctica, “This is the first time we have seen a volcano beneath the ice sheet punch a hole through the ice sheet,” Dr. Vaughan said. Heat from a volcano could still be melting ice and contributing to the thinning and speeding up of the Pine Island Glacier, which passes nearby, but Dr. Vaughan doubted that it could be affecting other glaciers in West Antarctica, which have also thinned in recent years. Most glaciologists, including Dr. Vaughan, say that warmer ocean water is the primary cause. Volcanically, Antarctica is a fairly quiet place. But sometime around 325 B.C., the researchers said, a hidden and still active volcano erupted, puncturing several hundred yards of ice above it. Ash and shards from the volcano carried through the air and settled onto the surrounding landscape.
